For the first time, users heard about terms such as “face id” or “face unlock” after the presentation of the iPhone X.

Xiaomi Face ID

Face recognition on Xiaomi has become another problem for developers. At the moment, you can count on your fingers all Xiaomi smartphones that officially support unlocking in the face.

After extensive testing, the developers published a list of Xiaomi smartphones that officially support Face ID. This is a face recognition system that can fully replace the standard fingerprint scanner.

  • Redmi Note 5 / Pro (the global version is already officially on sale).

At the moment, it is indicated that the face unlock function is supported in 5 regions:

  • Russia,

  • Indonesia,
  • Hong Kong,
  • Taiwan.

  • Mi Note 3.

An interesting fact is that Xiaomi Mi Note 3 does not have face recognition. This model, introduced in September 2017, was the first to officially have a workable Face ID.

Face Unlock MIUI 9

List of current firmware, MIUI 9 Stable for May for the three models listed above:

  • Redmi Note 5. V9.5.6.0.OEIMIFA (Android 8.1).
  • Mi Mix 2s. V9.5.4.0.ODGMIFA.
  • Redmi C2. V9.5.6.0.OEFCNFA (so far only Chinese firmware, the global version will be available after the second half of June).
