It happens that certain computer devices stop working correctly (for example, if a sound card malfunctions, the sound disappears). Often such problems are solved by reinstalling the driver. It is necessary in the device manager to right-click on the problem device (in our example, a sound card) and select “Delete”. After the device disappears from the list, click on the section in the Manager menu “Act” and select item “Update hardware configuration”;

5. Disconnect device.

Disabling temporarily unused devices is advisable, for example, in laptops. This reduces battery consumption.

In this article, the reader will learn about an effective and simple way to reduce the size of files, allowing you to store much more files on storage devices (flash drives, hard drives, diskettes, etc.) without losing or degrading their contents.

We will focus on file archiving, as well as on programs designed for this purpose.

The Windows operating system is able to automatically determine the type of each file and open it using a suitable program. The user just has to double-click on the file with the left mouse button.

This happens because each file has an extension, and in the settings of the computer’s operating system there is a certain relationship scheme in which each file extension corresponds to a certain program that the computer uses to open such files. This relationship between file extension types and programs is called file associations.

The program by which the computer automatically opens files of a certain type is called the default program.

If the user is not tired of the program used by default for some type of file, file associations can be changed.

Desktop. an important part of the Windows operating system, which occupies almost the entire space of the computer screen and is in our field of vision for a significant part of the time. Therefore, it is very important that its appearance evokes positive emotions. This is achieved largely due to the placement on the desktop of beautiful background images (wallpaper).

The article will discuss how to set up automatic change of desktop background images with a certain frequency.

The information presented in this article is intended for novice computer users with a minimum level of training and is a generalization of several other articles of our site. This is a kind of foundation, without which it will be quite difficult to independently and quickly master a computer.

Each file has certain identifying properties: name, extension, size, etc. But none of these properties is unique and does not allow to uniquely identify each file. For example, there may be several files of the same type of the same size and with the same name, differing in content.

The problem of unique identification is solved by the so-called hash-sum of the file (colloquially. Just a hash).

Icons are a means to visually display files and folders in the computer explorer.

The reader will learn more about what an icon is, how to create its own icon, how to change the icon of a file or folder from this article.
