The Difference Between iPad 2019 And iPad Air 2019

If the iPad Pro seems too expensive.

The presentation on September 10 began with the unexpected announcement of the seventh-generation iPad for 329. The novelty has a larger display, support for Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard. Let’s see if it’s worth overpaying for the iPad Air (2019), which at first glance is not much different from the new tablet.

The “seventh” iPad has a 10.2-inch Retina display without lamination, anti-glare, True Tone technology and P3 color gamut. Air has it all, and the diagonal is slightly larger. 10.5 inches.

The Difference Between iPad 2019 And iPad Air 2019

The current line of iPad

Most users will not notice a strong difference. Compared to the iPad Pro, yes. There are 120 Hz, which make the picture smooth and the tablet feels completely different.

A10 Fusion inherited from the previous generation. It is enough for most everyday tasks, but professional software for editing and photo processing can already be “thought over”.

If you consider the tablet as a multimedia device for the home or an ordinary reader, feel free to buy the seventh generation, which will last for a few more years. Of course, I would like to see the A10X Fusion, which was in the iPad Pro 2017, but the usual “ten” will go.

Minor differences

The front camera on the seventh-generation iPad is just 1.2 megapixels versus 7 megapixels in Air (2019). Very sad, it is enough only for calls. The first generation Touch ID is not very fast. The maximum amount of memory ends at 128 GB, while Air (2019) has 256 GB.

What was left unchanged?

Design. The only difference is in the frame, which is larger due to the display of a smaller diagonal. Support for the first generation Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard, Lightning-connector and the same time. Two speakers and a 3.5 mm jack also remained unchanged.

Here is a comparison plate:

Wi-Fi, 128 GB. 34 990 rubles Wi-Fi, 256 GB. 55,490 rubles

Wi-Fi LTE, 128 GB. 45 990 rubles Wi-Fi LTE, 256 GB. 66,490 rubles

And what to take?

It depends on the tasks: if you need a device to watchs at home, read books and social programs, then there is no point in overpaying for Air (2019). In fact, Air (2019) is the same device, but with a better display and processor, which lasts a couple of years.

If earlier Air (2019) differed from the “regular” iPad with keyboard support, now there is no difference. All iPadOS chips will be available, which means that the seventh generation will become a “popular” device with excellent sales. The price, of course, decides, and the iPad (2019) is just wonderful.

Updating on the seventh generation iPad makes sense only with very old models. Last year’s iPad is practically no different, and the very first iPad Pro will last another year or two.
