If the battery is completely discharged, it may take 30 minutes before the device starts charging. At this time, the screen may remain completely dark, and the charging icon will not be displayed. Please note that it may take up to 4 hours to charge a fully discharged battery.
Make sure you are using an original Sony charger to charge your device.
To charge your Xperia ™ device, plug the standard Sony charger into a wall outlet. When you connect your Xperia ™ device to your computer using a USB cable, the charging process is much slower.
Disconnect the USB cable from the Xperia ™ device and reinsert it into the micro USB port of the device. Make sure that the charger cable is correctly connected to the micro USB connector of the device and that no objects, such as a protective cover, are interfering with it. Ensure that the charger is properly connected to an outlet with an active power source.
Make sure the charger connector is free of lint, dust, and moisture. A clogged connector may cause the USB cable to be connected incorrectly and prevent the charging process. Make sure the USB connector is dry and gently remove dust and lint, such as using a wooden or plastic toothpick or toothbrush.
Try charging your Xperia ™ device by connecting it to your computer’s USB port using a different USB cable. If the device starts charging, it may mean that your charger is not working properly. Replace it with an original Sony charger designed for your device.
Turn off the device, and then turn it on again. This will stop all running applications and free up memory. Sometimes this operation automatically fixes the problem.
If the device does not respond or does not restart, you may need to force restart or turn it off. In this case, the settings and personal data will not be deleted.
