Filling smartphones

Nevertheless, the main emphasis in the differences between the series is placed on the technical stuffing. The characteristics of the hardware affect the performance of smartphones, and the additional functionality expands the possibilities. The devices of the series are based on the Android 6 platform.

Samsung smartphones of the S, A, J. series what are the differences?

Samsung manufactures the extensive Galaxy family in multiple series. The lineup is associated with top-end smartphones on the Android platform. The Galaxy family unites three price segments (from budget to fashion). The series also stands out for its popularity, however, and the company itself positions gadgets as an alternative to expensive smartphones. The letter designations just determine the belonging to a particular segment. There is a choice in a range of in each of the families.

The J-series are budget versions with inexpensive materials and a simple body, but rich in filling. The A-series is presented in the middle category, here the models have outstanding characteristics, good workmanship in every detail. And, finally, S. top-end gadgets in a stylish case made of expensive materials with excellent performance.

The difference in design

Belonging to each of the three segments is displayed in the stuffing of smartphones. Appearance is also of great importance. It is no less important, as “they meet by their clothes”.

Characteristic features of each

Like any line, Samsung’s letter series have their own characteristics. Despite such a big difference in for each of the models, they all have their own “chips” to conquer users.

Smartphones of the Galaxy family in each of the series have embodied different needs. Each model is good in its segment. It is unlikely that a budget smartphone, albeit with excellent characteristics, is suitable for those who want to emphasize their status. The J series is suitable for those who need a gadget at the best price, with decent functionality. If you need a performance model for work or play, then Series A will be to your liking. Want to stand out from the crowd and emphasize your image? Then the S-series is a good choice.

Manuals for Samsung phones

On this page you can download manuals for Samsung phones. Samsung Electronics has been on the market for over 70 years, constantly improving, updating and improving its products. Thus, the company is trying to improve not only the financial condition of its management, but also to simplify the lives of people in all corners of the world, offering them ever better and more modern products. Samsung’s business lines are diverse. In addition to the usual production of household appliances, computer equipment, telephones, the company’s activities even cover financial services, hotel business, medicines, and many other areas.
Like the company’s products, any Samsung phone manual is made with high quality and with maximum benefit for the consumer. In it you can find important information on the correct use of the device, warnings about safety rules that you need to know and follow during the use of the phone (this is also the instruction manual for the Samsung phone). You will also learn how to properly dispose of your mobile device, what precautions should be taken. These are seemingly ordinary things that we often forget about in the process of using the product, which does not lead to anything good.
You will also learn what steps you need to take before using the device from the instructions for your Samsung phone. As a rule, the process of installing a SIM-card into a phone is described in detail, accompanied by all the necessary images. All icons and designations. Which you can see on the phone screen will also be detailed in the manual. There you can also find a description of the keys of a mobile device (if there are any, of course), find out for what purpose this or that button is placed on the case. You can rest assured that everything on the phone case will be detailed.
Of course, the Samsung phone manual contains descriptions of all the functions that are available in the mobile device. If you do not know how to perform any action, first of all carefully review the manual, and then ask someone or look for the necessary information on the Internet. As practice shows, the answers to 80 percent of the questions that arise during the operation of Samsung phones (or smartphones) can be found in the instructions. It is sad that the majority does not want to look for answers in it, but immediately starts making noise on all kinds of forums asking for help. But since you are on this page, then you are not one of them, are you? 🙂

Instructions are posted in “djvu” format. You can view them using the client, which can be downloaded here:]] download Djvu Viewer]].

Software and multimedia

The Samsung Galaxy A50 software platform uses Android OS version 9 with the ability to update over the air (OTA). The proprietary Samsung One UI shell has replaced the Samsung Experience. The design has been refreshed, support for gestures has expanded, and a trendy dark option has been added to the themes. Icon design has become a little more rounded and more similar to Material Design. The Android navigation bar with three buttons has been replaced by a “gesture” strip. The interface has become lighter and more intuitive, there are few preinstalled programs, and almost all of them are useful, although Samsung’s persistence in installing Microsoft’s suite of applications is striking. You can definitely do without them.

Of the main features: there is an Always On Display function, face unlock, and a fingerprint scanner is located under the glass of the screen. And if there are no complaints about the first function, then both unlocking options work rather slowly. It is especially offensive for the fingerprint scanner: the younger version (Galaxy A30) did not use it too far, it was left on the back wall as standard, and it works unlike the Galaxy A50’s subscreen scanner, which every now and then says: “Hold your finger longer.” In general, while it is. technology for the sake of technology. Subscreen fingerprint scanners are still significantly slower than “classic”.

In terms of multimedia, the smartphone is good. If the main speaker produces just a fairly clear and loud sound, then the sound in the headphones can really be praised. The sound is both clear and bright, and saturated with the entire spectrum of frequencies. there is even a feeling that there is a little overkill with low frequencies. The smartphone has an FM radio (only works with headphones) and a high quality sensitive voice recorder, suitable for recording lectures and seminars.

Telephone part and communications

The Exynos 9610 chipset includes a modem with LTE Cat.12 / 13 support, which provides data transfer rates up to 600/150 Mbps. There are no complaints about working in wireless networks: within the city limits of the Moscow region, the device behaves confidently, keeps the 4G network, quickly restores communication after a forced break.

Samsung Galaxy View Review

Both Wi-Fi bands (2.4 and 5 GHz) and 802.11ac mode are supported, as well as Bluetooth 5.0. It is especially pleasant that there is also an NFC module that fully works with the My Travel Card application and Troika cards.

The navigation module theoretically works with GPS (with A-GPS), Glonass, Galileo and the Chinese Beidou. However, for some reason, satellites were detected for a very long time in the usual test place during a cold start. Strange behavior. Galaxy A30, for example, “clings” to GPS satellites is much more agile, like most modern smartphones. The device has a magnetic compass, which is necessary for the operation of navigation programs.

The phone application supports Smart Dial, that is, when dialing a phone number, a search is immediately carried out by the first letters in contacts. The methods for sorting and displaying contacts are standard for the Android interface. VoLTE is supported. In the conversational dynamics, the voice of a familiar interlocutor is recognizable, the volume reserve is sufficient. Vibrating alert. medium power. SIM-cards work in Dual SIM Dual Standby mode, there is only one radio modem.

Galaxy A50 is the older model of Samsung’s latest budget smartphone series. The release of this series is an attempt by the Korean manufacturer to find a way out of the current deplorable situation into which he has brought himself in recent years. At the budget level, Samsung smartphones of the Galaxy J and Galaxy A series could not compete with competitors from China for a long time, because, being more expensive, they were inferior to them in almost everything.

Now we are witnessing a kind of “reboot”: Samsung has finally revised its policy regarding budget lines. They are combined into one, and several models were born in it at once. from very simple to quite technically advanced: Galaxy A10, A20, A30, A40 and A50. Today we will look at the most interesting of them. the older model Galaxy A50.

Main characteristics of Samsung Galaxy A50 (model SM-A505FM / DS)

Below is a thermal image of the rear surface taken after a 15 minute battery test in GFXBenchmark:

Heating is higher in the upper part of the device, which, apparently, corresponds to the location of the SoC chip. According to the heat chamber, the maximum heating was 42 degrees (at an ambient temperature of 24 degrees). This heating cannot be called insignificant.

The Samsung Galaxy A50 received the Samsung Exynos 9610 SoC as a mobile platform, which has 8 processor cores: 4 Cortex-A73 with a frequency of up to 2.3 GHz and 4 Cortex-A53 with a frequency of up to 1.7 GHz. GPU Mali-G72 MP3 is responsible for graphics processing. The amount of RAM is 4 or 6 GB (initially free 2.7 GB out of 6 GB), and the built-in flash memory is 64 or 128 GB (initially free about 101 GB out of 128 GB).

There is the possibility of expanding memory by installing microSD cards, you can also connect external flash drives in USB OTG mode.

SoC Samsung Exynos 9610 is an excellent mid-level chipset in terms of price-quality ratio. This is not a top-end or upper mid-range, like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 or Huawei Kirin 710, but it’s still a pretty decent solution. The SoC is produced according to the 10 nm process technology, that is, in fact, this is a version of the flagship Exynos 9810 cut down in processor frequencies.

In the AnTuTu test, the smartphone scores more than 140 thousand points, which is very good. You don’t even need to talk about the smoothness of the interface and the speed of the applications, everything is perfect. The platform also handles demanding games with ease. This is a clear bold plus for a device that costs 20 thousand rubles.

Benchmarking AnTuTu and GeekBench:

All the results obtained by us when testing the smartphone in the most recent versions of popular benchmarks, we have summarized in tables for convenience. Several other devices from various segments are usually added to the table, also tested on similar latest versions of benchmarks (this is done only for a visual assessment of the obtained dry numbers). Unfortunately, within the framework of one comparison, it is impossible to present the results from different versions of benchmarks, therefore, many worthy and relevant models remain “behind the scenes”. due to the fact that they once passed the “obstacle course” on previous versions of test programs.

Testing the graphics subsystem in game tests 3DMark, GFXBenchmark and Bonsai Benchmark:

When tested in 3DMark for the most productive smartphones, it is now possible to run the application in Unlimited mode, where the rendering resolution is fixed at 720p and VSync is disabled (which can cause the speed to rise above 60 fps).

Browser cross-platform tests:

As for benchmarks for evaluating the speed of the javascript engine, you should always make allowances for the fact that the results in them significantly depend on the browser in which they are launched, so that the comparison can be truly correct only on the same OS and browsers, and this possibility is available when testing not always. In the case of Android OS, we always try to use Google Chrome.

AndroBench memory speed test results:

The Samsung Galaxy A50 uses a single 25MP sensor module with an f / 2.0 aperture lens as the front camera. True, as it has become fashionable now, the maximum resolution cannot be turned on just like that, by default the smartphone will shoot at 12 megapixels. You will have to guess how to set the maximum resolution on your own, going through all the options and reaching the mysterious inscription “3: 4H”. over, the ability to select this mode disappears if you shoot in Live Focus mode with background blur. By the way, in the younger model Galaxy A30, everything is arranged in exactly the same way, but there is no choice “3: 4H” at all.

We can say about the camera that it shoots very well. but with an important clarification: only in good lighting. During the day on the street, the pictures are obtained with decent detail and sharpness, the color rendition is normal. The center object of the frame from the background in live focus mode is not very neatly cropped out, but it is acceptable. There are almost no lubricants. The camera, of course, cannot boast of the true breadth of the dynamic range, but at least the face is obtained with adequate illumination. Unfortunately, from a series of 10 selfie shots in different indoor conditions, we did not get a single really good shot: the light sensitivity immediately rises to at least ISO 200, and at the same time, there is no need to talk about the details of the pictures. they are suitable for avatars and social networks and for displaying from the phone screen, but they do not pull at a full-fledged portrait, which is not ashamed to be shown on the monitor. In addition, in such conditions, blur becomes a constant companion of selfie shooting. In general, the selfie camera is ambiguous, and we cannot confidently call it a plus of the phone. Another thing is that we have not seen anything fundamentally better with inexpensive solutions, so here the Galaxy A50 looks competitive.

The rear camera of the Samsung Galaxy A50 consists of three modules. The main one has a sensor with a resolution of 25 megapixels and a lens with an aperture of f / 1.7 (pixel size 1.25 microns), but by default it shoots at 12 megapixels. To go to the maximum resolution of 25 megapixels, you must guess to press the same mysterious button “3: 4H” in the viewfinder, and there is no such item in the settings menu. Additional module. wide-angle, with a viewing angle of 123 degrees. The sensor resolution here is 8 megapixels, the lens aperture is f / 2.2. Accordingly, in the central place of the viewfinder there is always a button for switching between a conventional camera and a wide-angle camera. two trees or three trees. You could, of course, come up with something more intuitive, at least just write “wider”, like Huawei, but that is. The third module (5 Mp, f / 2.2) does not allow taking pictures and serves only to measure the depth of field. There is no optical stabilization, the flash is of medium brightness, autofocus is fast and adequate. There is an HDR mode that does not work at a maximum resolution of 25 megapixels, you can enable background blur, and there is also a manual settings mode. There is no standard ability to save pictures in RAW, but for some reason they added a mode for saving HEIF files, which not every photo processing program recognizes.

To be honest, we expected more from the main camera. No, the quality of the pictures is not bad, and if you are switching to the Galaxy A50 from some not very expensive old phone, then nothing will confuse you here. However, now 2019 is in full swing, and we have already seen serious improvements in the quality of pictures, including in very inexpensive smartphones. the same Redmi Note 7, so as not to go far for examples. We bring to your attention a comparison of one fragment (from the central part of the frame) of images from these smartphones, the rest you can easily compare yourself.

Samsung Galaxy A50, snippet 1: 1

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7, fragment 1: 1

Yes, the shots on the Galaxy A50 are good, especially for a low-cost smartphone. However, Samsung seems to be a little behind the current situation and does not quite correctly interpret the word “inexpensive”. The same Redmi Note 7 is sold for 3-4 thousand cheaper, and the comparison of cameras here is a little not in favor of the Samsung smartphone. However, of course, the smartphone is not limited to cameras alone. So, if we talk about the Galaxy A50 itself, then the pictures are clearly lacking in detail and, especially, sharpness. Actually, from the pictures obtained during the entire photo session, we can only call a few acceptably clear, on the rest there is some kind of haze all the time, on the verge of blurring. But as if that weren’t enough, the sharpness also drops sharply towards the edges, and far from the last 10% in width. It seems that these images are not designed to be viewed in full size at all. Again, a couple of years ago it was normal, but now it is no longer. Apparently, the source of the constantly blurred picture is an aggressive fight against noise, and at least we almost succeeded in defeating them: there are traces only in “uncomfortable” shadows in low light. The color rendition in the pictures is generally adequate, but the picture looks dull, here it would seem, and add juiciness. A smartphone is practically unsuitable for night shooting. unless you are satisfied with a picture the size of an avatar.

Yes, there seems to be a reserve in the form of switching to a resolution of 25 megapixels, but in practice there is no point in this: this is not RAW with pixel noise, the picture is still blurry and very weak. There is nothing to say about night shots. To be fair, the comparable in cost Redmi Note 7 (as opposed to the much more expensive Xiaomi Mi 9) has a high-resolution mode (in his case. 48 megapixels) is also completely useless.

The wide-angle camera, unfortunately, is also quite consistent with models from 2-3 years ago. Even with a not too high resolution of images, the drop in the quality of the relative main camera is striking, geometric distortions are very serious, and the picture at the edges of the frame can give only the most general idea of the subject of shooting. To be honest, it’s not even very clear why such a module is needed. It is unlikely that anyone would think to switch to it in order to completely fit into the frame some, say, a beautiful building: the result will be very far from beauty.

The video camera can shoot video in a maximum resolution of 2336 × 1080 at 30 fps, there is no optical stabilization. The camera shoots video well, even at night it does not fail in sharpness and detail, bright light spots do not blur into blots, there are not so many multi-colored noises. Even with shooting on the go, everything is fine, although the stabilization is not optical, but electronic. The sound is recorded sensitively, and the noise reduction system copes with its role quite well.

Thanks to its compact display and leisurely 1850mAh J1 processor, it offers good battery life. This is what the statistics on the consumption of 100% battery charge when using two SIM cards says: playing HD video. 3 hours, listening to audio. 3.5 hours plus 3 hours of surfing the Web.

You can reduce power consumption by using the extreme power saving mode provided here.

Equipment and performance

In terms of hardware, the tested smartphone. a typical entry-level representative. Among the wireless modules on board are Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and Glonass.

In addition, there is support for two SIM cards in standby mode and there is an FM radio.

Responsible for performance is a 2-core Spreadtrum SC8830 processor with a frequency of 1.2 GHz and Mali-400 graphics, paired with 512 MB of RAM.

Accordingly, you should not count on high performance. over, you need to be prepared for the fact that the gadget will not always keep up with your actions.

The model with the J100F index, which is available on the Russian market, was a little more fortunate with the equipment. In addition to more productive hardware: 768 MB of RAM, 4-core Marvell PXA1908, 1.2 GHz, Vivante GC7000UL graphics, it also received support for NFC and LTE networks.

The user gets a little more than half of the 4 GB of internal memory in a smartphone. Fortunately, the J1 has a slot for microSD memory cards with a maximum capacity of 128 GB.

But you won’t be able to connect a microUSB flash drive to it. the USB-OTG specification is not supported.

Galaxy J1 is equipped with a 4.3-inch TFT-display with a resolution of 480×800 pixels. The density of pixels per inch is 217. Pixelization is visible to the naked eye, but in general does not interfere with the normal operation of the gadget.

The color rendition and contrast of the screen are average, and the viewing angles are quite good. only with a strong tilt of the smartphone, the image darkens a little.

Unlike the earlier tested Galaxy E5 (SM-E500H) and Galaxy A3 (A300H), the J1 does not provide the ability to select the display mode, and the backlight brightness is adjusted exclusively manually. By the way, in conditions of bright sun, even at its maximum level, the screen noticeably “fades”, which is explained by the presence of a small air gap between the glass and the matrix.

Display J1, given the budgetary status of the device, did not receive an oleophobic coating. However, even without it, the finger glides on the glass well, and fingerprints, which quickly cover the screen with active use, are easily eliminated. Multi-touch supports two simultaneous touches.

The Korean model has plenty of them, and many can offer similar technical equipment even at a more affordable cost. And here the manufacturer can only win the brand name, which is on everyone’s lips and inspires confidence in quality.

The notification curtain is functionally cut down here. no S Finder, limited number of shortcut buttons for basic functions. By the way, the Settings menu in J1 is available only in expanded mode, that is, without a separate tab of the main functions.
