Operating system crashed. You have reinstalled the system, but there is a Task: to migrate accounts and mail from one system to another. The fact that to move “Personal folders” is enough to find and copy the Outlook file.pst instead of the newly created (or connect it second), many people know. On seven, by the way, it’s right here: C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst, where %USERNAME% is the name of the user (or more precisely, the name of the folder where the user profile is located). The disk might not be C:\ either if the crashed operating system was on a different disk. And here’s how to move the “account” settings? It’s good if you had a couple or three of them. you can re-create them easily. And if you had at least ten of them?! It turns out that in order to do that, we have to pull the following branches from the registry of the user profile of the crashed system and import them into the current profile: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\OMI Account Manager HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\Outlook HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office% office version%\Outlook\Options where % office version% is 11.0, 12.0, 14.0 and so on, depending on which version you used.

Open Regedt32 and through menu “File”. “Load Hive. “Connect NTUSER.DAT from the profile of the crashed system. You have to go to “HKEY_USERS” section and choose “File. “Load Hive. ” and point it to NTUSER.DAT from the old profile (find it in the user folder inside the folder Users or Documents and Settings from the crashed system). Regedt32 will ask us what name to give to the branch we want to connect. let’s give it e.g. “1234”.

In the just connected “1234” branch, search and export to reg files the three branches mentioned above. Only here, of course, they will start not with “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\”, but with “HKEY_USERS\1234\”. To export the desired branch to a reg file: go to the desired branch and use the “File” menu to. “Export” export the file (you will have to give the name and location of the file you want to export). Do the same with all three paths in the registry and we get three reg files.

Open one by one each of the three reg files in Notepad (e.g. right-click on them in Explorer and select “Edit” in the popup menu) and replace “HKEY_USERS\1234” with “HKEY_CURRENT_USER”. This is so that the information will get into the current profile during import and it will overwrite the current information.

I highly recommend that you export the current state as well so that you can restore everything back to the way it was if something goes wrong. So do not be lazy and do all steps of point 2 just for the current path (you have to work with “HKEY_CURRENT_USER”). Now, in case of any problems, you can import the files obtained at this step and restore the current state of the settings.

Now you actually have to close Outlook (if it was open) and import the files you got at step 3. Just open them in explorer and say yes to the warning.

That’s all! After opening Outlook, you will get a complete list of ready-made “accounts”. Except their mailbox passwords are not migrated that way (but they don’t seem to be migrated from the old profiles in any way whatsoever)!), so be prepared to remember them (or change them via “I forgot the password” 🙂 ).

First launch. Creating a data file
