Huawei P10 Lite Does Not Charge

This year, Huawei for the first time began selling two flagship smartphones in Ukraine at once: Huawei P10 and P10 Plus. Both models have the same design, but differ in size and resolution of the display, the amount of RAM, camera specifications, as well as battery capacity. You could already meet Huawei P10 in our review, and since the P10 Plus has a lot in common with it, I decided to make an experience of using it. The initial plan was to use the smartphone as the main one for two weeks and then share your opinion about it. But in the end, with Huawei P10 Plus, I was more than a month old and even managed to travel a bit with it. What are the impressions left by the flagship of Huawei, how comfortable is it to use and whether it really shoots well. read about it below.

Design, construction, durability

Externally, the P10 Plus is a larger version of the P10, but this did not make the smartphone look any worse. The case is simply proportionally enlarged to accommodate a 5.5-inch display. At the same time, thanks to the relatively small frames, the Huawei P10 Plus was not very large, for comparison, here it is next to the iPhone 6s Plus of the same diagonal:

On the front panel of the P10 Plus there is no company logo and there are no signs at all. For me, this is a great solution. Well, speaking in general, then Huawei turned out to have a classic touchscreen smartphone design. At the same time, it is pleasant that symmetry prevails on the front panel. The display is located exactly in its center with the same frames above and below, the camera unit, the light sensor and the speaker grill are on the same level. Even the fingerprint scanner is inscribed exactly in the center of the panel under the display.

By the way, the entire front panel of the Huawei P10 Plus is covered with a protective glass Gorilla Glass 5, and under it, including a fingerprint scanner, is hidden. The glass is slightly rounded at the edges and fits snugly against the metal of the case, leaving no gaps. The display comes out of the box with a protective film. During the month of use, she managed to get several noticeable scratches, but in general I expected that she would have to be removed almost immediately.

The back side and the edges of the smartphone are made of a single piece of aluminum, in which a glass block with cameras, as well as plastic antenna strips, are elegantly inscribed. I got the black version of the design of the Huawei P10 Plus with a matte finish, and in my opinion, it is one of the most successful. After all, even if you wear a smartphone without a case, then fingerprints are practically not visible on the matte surface. In addition, the black case fits almost any style.

As for wear resistance, the first week I wore a smartphone with a complete case, but dust quickly clogged under it and in general the smartphone sits in it not very tightly.

As a result, most of the time, the Huawei P10 Plus was used without a case and, with not very careful use, received only a few small scratches on the edges.

Already at the end of the test, I managed to find two branded cases, and I settled on the version under the skin with the Leica logo.

Although the second cover-book with a rough fabric coating also liked.

The convenience of use

In the hand, the P10 Plus lies very well. This is facilitated by the rounded edges of the back, as well as the small thickness of the case, which is only 6.98 mm. On the right side of the smartphone is the volume key and the power button. They are made of metal and protrude from the body, so they are easy to find by touch. In addition, the power button has a corrugated coating and a stylish red border.

This is just a small detail in the design of the smartphone, but I really liked it. At the same time, I cannot but note that the keys fit tightly in the case, they have no backlash, and they are pressed with a clearly distinguishable click.

The main control of the smartphone is implemented through a touch screen, it understands 10 simultaneous touches, and generally responds to clicks very well.

In the Huawei P10 Plus, under the display there are no traditional Android control keys, or rather, there is only one touch button, which also contains a fingerprint scanner.

In this case, you can choose from two options: either the navigation keys on the screen, or transfer all their functions to the touch button. It works very simply, one touch of a button takes a step back, a long press returns to the main screen, and a gesture to the right or left opens the cards of active programs.

I immediately decided to drop the option with the navigation keys on the display, I did not want them to occupy usable space. Therefore, I decided to try to work with one key instead of three, and in the end I was satisfied with this decision. Indeed, it’s really worth getting used to it a little, and you’re already starting to look for something similar in other smartphones.

As for the fingerprint scanner, it is quite large in the P10 Plus and works very quickly. The scanner in the flagship of Huawei spends less than a second on finger recognition. In this case, the only obstacle to its operation may be drops of water on the fingers or on the surface of the sensor, in this case, the scanner may not work.

In general, as for a 5.5-inch smartphone, it is convenient to use the Huawei P10 Plus, this is facilitated by the relatively small frames on the sides of the display, a small thickness, as well as the generally successful ergonomics of the device, including a touch key under the display.

Unlike the younger model Huawei P10, the P10 Plus has a 5.5-inch display, and even with a higher resolution. 2560×1440 pixels.

The matrix is also IPS, and it has good viewing angles, and the color rendition can be adjusted to your preference. For this, there is a separate menu in the settings. Initially, the screen really seemed a little “cold” to me, so I chose a “warmer” color temperature.

In addition, in the settings you can enable the “blue filter”, this can be done manually or according to a schedule.

The minimum brightness of the display is 2.5 cd / m2, and the maximum is 498 cd / m2, so on the street, even in direct sunlight, information from the P10 Plus is read normally.

In P10, despite Android 7.0, there was no option to scale the screen, but in the older model they did not forget about it. And this is actually good, because the amount of information that can be displayed on the display is no less important parameter than the diagonal and resolution.

The Huawei P10 Plus has three scales for interface elements, as well as five font sizes. This allows you to maximize the use of screen area, reducing the interface elements. Or vice versa, increase them if you have poor eyesight. I used the average scale of the interface, as well as the large font size, and this was enough so that the useful area of the 5.5-inch display does not disappear.

Work speed

The Huawei P10 Plus has a Huawei-developed HiSilicon Kirin 960 processor. It operates according to scheme 44 with four energy-efficient Cortex-A53 cores with a frequency of 1.8 GHz, as well as four productive Cortex-A73 with a frequency of 2.4 GHz. The integrated core Mali-G71 MP8 complements them. one of the top solutions to date. In addition, in my copy of the smartphone was installed 6 GB of RAM, as well as 128 GB of internal memory.
With this feature set, the Huawei P10 Plus is not just fast, but very fast.

Even with a dozen running applications, the amount of occupied RAM rarely exceeded 3 GB, leaving as much more free. Of course, much depends on the optimization of the applications themselves for Android, not all of them remain in memory even with such an amount of free “RAM”. However, my browser’s open tabs did not restart, remaining in the background for several days.

Smartphone P10 Plus copes with demanding games without any problems, XCOM works without braking, World of Tank Blitz shows 60 FPS with maximum graphics settings.

During the game, the smartphone heats up in the upper part of the body in the camera area, but the temperature at the same time, according to my measurements, reached 36-37 degrees Celsius. This is already tangible, but does not cause discomfort. If you run a test, for example, 3DMark, then it loads the system more and the case temperature rises to 39 degrees Celsius. But in everyday use, including in games, I could not load the processor and graphics as much.
