Huawei P10 Camera Problem

In 2017, many worthy devices came out, but some of them were deprived of attention, and in vain. The Huawei P10 smartphone and version P. The Plus and Lite rulers got pretty good specifications: an excellent dual camera, high performance, nice design and a powerful battery. However, not without a fly in the ointment, but more on that later.

P-line positioning

Huawei is steadily moving towards its cherished goal: to become one of A. brands. They pay a lot of attention to materials, design, device chips and their positioning. If the Chinese manufacturer maintains these trends, the moment is not far off when it will become a competitor to Samsung. In the meantime, the Chinese manufacturer is creating very high-quality and decent devices, but still does not reach the level of the South Korean corporation.

In 2017, the company introduced three smartphones P. the rulers: Huawei P10, P10 Plus and P10 Lite. They are positioned as devices with balanced characteristics and are aimed at consumers with high demands on camera quality. The optics of the devices were developed in collaboration with Leica. And it paid off: the cameras of smartphones P. the rulers shoot at the level of the latest flagships.

Today we decided to compare the Huawei P10 and other smartphones of the P. series. We will figure out how the devices differ, find out their strengths and weaknesses, and determine which smartphone to pay attention to when it comes to acquiring a new device.

The flagships use the 8-core Kirin 960 processor, the younger model received the HiSilicon Kirin 658 chipset. According to the manufacturer, the processor was developed specifically for the P10 Lite.

Huawei P10 received 4 GB of RAM, the Plus version has two modifications: with 4 GB and 6 GB of RAM. Smartphones based on benchmark tests may well compete with flagship devices. In any case, the P10 Plus (version with 6 GB of RAM) overtook AnTuTu in the benchmark according to the test results of the LG G6, gaining 138, 311 points against 135.032 points of the opponent.

There are no performance problems with the devices: demanding games perform well, the system does not freeze, and there are no lags. There is a slightly noticeable heating of the case, barely noticeable, as if the phone was warmed by the heat of the palm.

The younger version also behaves quite dignified: the device is smart, practically does not heat up under load.

What is common in all three devices is battery life. Even more or less capacious battery P10 Plus gives a standard result. 12-14 hours of active use. Fast charging works flawlessly. the battery is fully charged in about 1.5 hours.

Appearance. stylish, but ordinary

Huawei can be called a conservative company. it does not go for bold experiments and adheres to a recognizable style. P. The design line is similar to previous models. Many blame the company for the fact that the P10 and its counterparts are similar to Apple products. In fact, almost all the latest smartphones with rounded edges can be suspected of imitating iPhones.

P10 is one of the most successful image devices of the company. This is an elegant device with a thin all-metal body, surprisingly organic in a combination of sizes, materials and colors. The sides are polished to smoothness, and the rear panel has a different structure: there are models with a rough finish, sandblasting and glossy. The device lies comfortably in your hand and practically does not slip.

A definite plus of the smartphone is the amazing variety of color solutions of the case. Eyes literally run up, one option is better than another, and they will all find their users. The controversial option is the green color of the case. He is handsome, but, as they say, an amateur. They praise mainly the blue color, which has become trendy.

A larger device, in comparison with other models of the line, in a thin all-metal case. The edges are noticeably rounded, the body does not have sharp transitions. The smartphone seems wide, but it is comfortable in the hand. Despite the apparent massiveness, it is not so heavy. The matte metal surface is pleasant to the touch, but slippery. Protection for the device will definitely not hurt. Build quality is excellent, there is nothing to complain about. the body is solid and reliable.

Huawei P10 Camera Problem

In general, the older version looks strict and expensive. There are also many color solutions for the case. you can choose from six options.

The front panel is protected by impact-resistant glass with sloping edges. In the upper part, according to tradition, there are sensors, an event indicator and a front camera.

A fingerprint scanner is located under the display. By the way, this is not a familiar button, but a recess in the glass. The scanner works fine, recognition is fast.

On the rear panel you can see the dual camera modules.

Of the features of the mechanical buttons, it is worth noting the corrugated and additionally colored power key.

The older models of the P-series received a stylish and attractive design, but without the “zest”. And here is the promised fly in the ointment. neither P10 nor the Plus version received an oleophobic coating. How this is possible in the case of flagship devices cannot be explained. One small nuance spoils the perfect picture of Huawei’s nearly flawless devices. Another unpleasant fact: in order to hide the lack of a grease-repellent layer, protective films were glued to smartphones, and of very mediocre quality. This awkward attempt to hide its flaw for the company looks somehow solid.

The design of the Huawei P10 Lite, the review of which we are presenting today, is similar to Honor 8: the form factor of the devices, the diagonal of the screen and the case materials coincide. The arrangement of elements is also largely identical. This is a thin device with an elegant glass case with a metal rim around the perimeter. It lies comfortably in the hand, does not slip out. Minus. a modest oleophobic coating. Glass panels are almost instantly covered by fingerprints.

The dissonance in the design of the device also causes a large headset jack, located off-center. With it, the smartphone looks, quite frankly, messy and ugly.

The back panel of the smartphone is interestingly decorated. The fingerprint sensor has a square shape, and this is quite unexpected. The item looks pretty.

There are no complaints about the assembly: the case is monolithic, it feels reliable.

The device entered the market in four color variants of the case: black, white, golden and blue. All variations look attractive because of the matte substrate under the glass surface.

Screen: size and quality

P10 received a 5.1-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 and a pixel density of 432 ppi. The frames around the screen are quite thin, but the frameless device can not be called. The brightness is adjusted automatically or manually, there is a blue filter. The latter can be configured to turn on at a specific time. With the display you can work with gloves. The matrix is high-quality, with good detail and excellent viewing angles. In the sun, the screen reads normally. With the color rendition, too, everything is in order, although the balance is slightly shifted to the cold spectrum. In the menu, all this is solved in a few touches.

The P10 Plus is equipped with a 5.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and a pixel density of 540 per inch. There is a fairly effective anti-reflective coating. Otherwise, the screen is the same as the P10.

The younger version of the P. series received a 5.2-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 and a pixel density of 423 ppi. Brightness and color reproduction are good, in the sun at maximum brightness the screen is read well. There is a vision protection mode that serves to prevent eye fatigue by reducing the level of UV radiation on the display.

The main features of the P10 and P10 Plus are cameras, which were developed by Leica engineers. Without exaggeration, the older models of the P. series received one of the best cameras for today among the latest smartphones. For Huawei, this is a huge success and a big step forward.

The P10 features a rear dual camera with a 20-megapixel monochrome lens and 12-megapixel color. Aperture f / 2.2, there is a two-tone flash, 2x zoom, optical stabilization and fast autofocus. During the day and in good light in the evening, the camera shoots beautifully. At night, the quality of the pictures is slightly worse, the photosensitivity of the matrix is clearly not enough. But even taking into account small flaws, Huawei did a great job with optics.

The Huawei P10 Plus has two main camera modules with the same characteristics as the P10: black and white resolution of 20 megapixels, and color. 12 megapixels, but the aperture is already f / 1.8.

Older models P. rulers received the same 8-megapixel front module with autofocus.

The P10 Lite is equipped with a 12-megapixel main camera with an f / 2.2 aperture and an 8MP front-facing module. Surprisingly, the rear camera shoots well in the afternoon in the sun, and in low light conditions, almost at the level of Huawei P10.

The front camera, although it did not receive autofocus, is capable of good pictures.

Proprietary shell and software version

At the time of the announcement, all three models were running Android 7.0 with the EMUI 5.1 shell. The user has many functions: gesture support, Knuckle Sense technology, virtual buttons, dual-window mode and much more.

Of the pre-installed applications in smartphones, there is a file manager, a health tracking program, a device manager, a proprietary music player (instead of a traditional FM radio), Yandex services (for the Russian market), and Opera browser.

Cost and competitors

The smartphone will be interesting to users who value devices with a good camera, balanced characteristics and a pleasant appearance.

Huawei P10 Plus now costs 40,990 rubles. Unfortunately, only two body colors are available: blue and black. The price is quite high, given that the smartphone also has weaknesses in terms of not the best performance and poor autonomy. Competitors are Google Pixel and Pixel XL, LG G6, Samsung Galaxy S8 and last year’s flagship Huawei Mate 9.

The smartphone is suitable for photography enthusiasts and those who like large-screen devices.

The cost of P10 Lite at the time of writing the review was 15,990 rubles. For this price, the user gets a stylish device that looks much more expensive than its cost, with balanced technical specifications and a good camera for its level. It may well give odds to more expensive devices on the Snapdragon 435, MediaTek Helio and Snapdragon 625. At the same time, the only drawback of the P10 Lite is its average autonomy.

Competitors P10 Lite. Samsung Galaxy A3 2017, Huawei Nova and Honor 6X.

As for the shortcomings of smartphones, unanimity reigns here: users are unhappy with the lack of oleophobic coating and the small capacity of the batteries.

User reviews about the Huawei P10 Lite are mostly supportive. The owners of the smartphone attributed its good characteristics to a smartphone, noting a high-quality display and a good camera. The cost of the device is another undoubted plus of the model. The complaints are about the average autonomy of the P10 Lite.

P-Series smartphones are a great alternative to the very expensive flagship iPhone and Samsung. For almost the same specifications, the user in the case of the Huawei P10 will pay significantly less. The Chinese manufacturer, of course, still does not reach the level of A. brands and makes annoying mistakes, such as the lack of oleophobic coating in Huawei P10 and P10 Plus. But if you are looking for a real alternative to the very expensive iPhones and flagship devices of the South Korean manufacturer, we recommend that you pay attention primarily to Huawei products.

  • great cameras;
  • nice design with a wide color variety of cases;

  • average autonomy;
  • lack of oleophobic coating (for P10 and P10 Plus);
  • lack of protection against dust and moisture.
