Huawei P Smart Z Update

As you know, Huawei has been releasing three topical smartphones from the same series for the last few years. In this case, we are talking about the P30 Pro, P30 and P30 lite. The first two are flagship devices, and the last is a simplified, affordable version of the phone from the new line.

The Huawei P30 lite smartphone has all the modern features: here you have three main cameras, an NFC chip, two-band Wi-Fi, VoLTE / VoWi-Fi, and a high-quality IPS matrix with almost no frames. And not so long ago a system update to EMUI 9.1 based on Google Android 9 “flew”.

The price, as usual for Huawei devices, is more than adequate. 19,990 rubles. Plus you get a case and a gift of your choice. It can be Huawei FreeLace headphones (now on our test), Huawei Band 3 Pro fitness tracker or Powerbank Huawei AP20Q.

If you’ve read the Huawei P30 Pro and P30 reviews, then easily imagine the P30 lite design. The device has absorbed the smooth contours of the Pro version and the sophisticated notes of the compact P30. In view of this, the appearance turned out to be very successful: flat upper and lower faces, a smooth transition of the back panel to the sides, a slight decline on the edges of the front side (2.5D), rounded corners.

The thickness is only 7.43 mm, and the width is 72.7 mm comfortable for grip with one hand. Weight Huawei P30 as balanced as possible. 159 grams.

The case is made of glass and metal: the screen and the reverse side of the device are durable tempered glass, and the frame is metal. For a month of active use, I did not have time to “plant” a single scratch on the phone. It feels strong and reliable in the hand, the assembly does not raise questions: even the back panel (typical for almost all smartphones up to 30,000 rubles) does not bend to the battery.

An oleophobic coating is present on both sides. And the quality is excellent: black marks on the P30 lite are invisible.

The perfect smartphone emerges from the point of view of appearance. Well, that is, that is. Of the minuses. perhaps a slightly slippery backside.

In the upper part of the frontal area there is a selfie camera, an indicator of missed events, various sensors, and a speaker. He is loud, the interlocutor is audible clearly and legibly, there are no extraneous sounds, and there is no echo either.

At the bottom there is a standard 3.5 mm audio output for headphones, USB Type-C, the main microphone and speakerphone.

On the top there is a combined slot for two SIM cards and a memory card, as well as a second microphone for noise reduction. On the right is the power button and volume control. It seems to me that they are located somewhat high, but it is convenient to use them.

On the reverse side. a large module with three lenses (protrudes by about a couple of millimeters), a single-section flash and a round fingerprint scanner (fast, there were no problems).

Total: classic design for the P series with good ergonomics and excellent build.

The diagonal of the display of the Huawei P30 lite is 6.15 inches. The P30 Pro has 6.47 inches, and the P30 has 6.1 inches. The screen resolution of the Light version is FullHD, that is, 2312×1080 pixels, the density is 415 pixels per inch, an excellent value, especially since the matrix is made using LTPS technology. This means that there is definitely no PWM and Pentile structure.

At the top of the screen there is a small cutout that is easily hidden (if necessary) in the display settings. There you can adjust the color mode and temperature, vision protection, screen resolution and other parameters.

The backlight brightness of the P30 lite screen matrix is slightly above average: in the light, the display fades slightly, but the information is read easily, viewing angles are maximum, without distortion.

Total: a nice screen with natural colors and high pixel density.

Working hours

I always said that system optimization solves all issues. Despite the standard capacity of 3340 mAh, the operating time of the Huawei P30 satisfied me:

  • 9 hours of playback at maximum screen brightness
  • Nearly 6 hours of gaming at maximum screen brightness
  • About 5 hours of glow on automatic screen brightness
  • Approximately 14 hours of active work with the device

Charges quickly thanks to the network adapter 5V / 2A, 9V / 2A. Up to 100% of the battery is filled in 1 hour 25 minutes.

Communication features

Traditionally, the smartphone works with two nano-format SIM cards. Both nano-SIMs work in 4G CAT 4 networks (1/3/7/8/20 bands). From the point of view of communication, the Huawei P30 lite well done: the reception quality is at a high level. At least, I did not notice a difference in this aspect between the P30 and P30 lite.

Wireless Wi-Fi operates at 2.4 / 5 GHz and supports the ac standard, Bluetooth has version 4.2 (BLE). And the device also sees VoLTE and VoWi-Fi.

Memory, Chipset and Performance

This model uses 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory (111 GB available).

The speed of RAM is 6420 MB / s. a normal result for the device for 19,990 rubles. Flash memory speed is very good. 216/225 MB / s. Of course, there is a slot for a microSD memory card, but it is combined with a SIM card. Therefore, either a “SIM card” or memory.

As the processor, Huawei chose SoC HiSilicon Kirin 710 (12 nm, ARM 4xCortex-A73 2.2 GHz 4xCortex-A53 1.7 GHz) with a Mali-G51 MP4 graphics accelerator.

The performance of Huawei phones has not raised questions for a long time: not everyone likes the shell, but it works very quickly, no micrologs or brakes. Games go all, but not at maximum parameters, which is explained by not the most powerful processor released a year ago.

For those who prefer tests, I give an example of Antutu: a smartphone scores 130,000 points. a good result in general, but not for powerful toys.

In simple words: almost all applications will work without a hitch, but games like PUBG will go at medium settings and without effects.

The device Huawei P30 lite runs on Google Android version 9, and on top of the system installed proprietary shell EMUI 9.1.

While I was preparing the review, two huge updates “flew” to the phone.

Of course, the main feature of this model is the triple camera module: the main camera is 24 MP (f / 1.8), wide-angle 8 MP (17 mm, f / 2.4) and an additional 2 MP for blurring the background or digital bokeh.

The main module is usually removed for a device for 20,000 rubles. Therefore, I will not list all the advantages and disadvantages. But I liked the “shirik”. Often, he “exported” more than the main module: a wide dynamic range, a wide viewing angle, nice colors, and so on.

The device shoots in FullHD resolution at 30/60 fps. The front camera records well, creating vlogs is possible. The sound is clear, stereo.

And there is also augmented reality, “Night” mode, Pro mode, slow motion.

The camera interface is the same as on any other Huawei smartphone on EMUI 9. Below is an overview of the interface.

Sample Photos

The Huawei P30 lite is equipped with a single speaker for music output. Its volume is high, the sound is clear, saturated, with a predominance of medium frequencies, without overload.

The music player is standard for Huawei, it contains Dolby Atmos, Huawei Histen settings and an equalizer. The sound, as usual, was tested on the Bose QC35 headphones. “Swing” quite well (both via wire and via Bluetooth), Huawei FreeBuds Lite TWS-headphones sound great, they don’t lose connection.

Among the applications you can find FM radio. It is located in the “Tools” section on the second desktop.

I would consider the Huawei P30 lite smartphone as a stylish novelty: the manufacturer focused on the image component. Tempered glass on both sides, high-quality oleophobic coating, good ergonomics, recognizable design, close to the flagship devices of Huawei.

Of course, not without desire: the main camera would be better abruptly. The rest of the device made an extremely positive impression:

  • Quick
  • Great screen
  • A lot of memory
  • All available communication features
  • 3.5 mm and USB-C
  • Price and gifts upon purchase
