How to charge Mi Band 2?
Before charging, the tracker must be removed from the strap. It should be taken out by lightly pushing into the inside of the bracelet.
After that, on the one hand, we connect the tracker itself to the cable that comes with the kit, and insert the other side into a charger with a current of up to 1A or into any USB port of your computer, laptop, power bank, etc.
You will have to charge the gadget no more than once every two weeks.
The complete set of the Mi Band 2 fitness tracker is as simple as possible. In the box with the device you can find only a special cord for connecting the charger, instructions in Chinese and a soft black bracelet.
The tracker is installed in the strap from the inside of the bracelet in such a way that it fully fits into the grooves and holds securely.
How to use Mi Band 2?
Thanks to the display, the tracker has become more informative than its predecessor Mi Band 1S Pulse.
Switching between screens is carried out by pressing the touch key located under the display.
The information on the screen alternates in the following order:
- current time;
- the number of steps taken;
- distance traveled;
- the number of calories burned;
- remaining battery charge.
In order for the information to start showing on the display, you must do the following:
Install the Mi Fit app
The Mi Fit application allows you to fully interact with the Mi Band 2 smart bracelet. To connect it, you can use not only Android devices, but also Apple products with some restrictions:
- operating system Android 4.3 or higher with the presence of a Bluetooth 4.0 module;
- operating system from version iOS 7.0 and smartphone no older than iPhone 4S.
For Android smartphones, the application can be downloaded from Google Play, download Mi Fit in Russian or install a modified version, and for iOS you will need to find it in the AppStore app store.
When you launch the program for the first time, you will be required to log in using the previously registered Mi account and enter information about yourself:
This is necessary for more accurate calculations, as the system calculates the distance traveled and calories burned, taking into account the approximate step width.
After entering personal data from the list of selected devices, select the Bracelet.
Some problems may occur during the connection. In the event that Mi Fit does not see Mi Band 2, try to find a solution in these articles:
If everything went well, using a Bluetooth connection, the smartphone updates the Mi Band 2 firmware and the set system time appears on the tracker display, as well as the countdown of steps and other parameters.
If desired, the list of displayed information can be changed by going to the fitness bracelet settings.
Xiaomi Mi Fit
Since the Mi Fit application in Russian is installed by default, it will not be difficult to deal with it, but we will still consider the main features of the program.
The application consists of the main windows: status, notifications and profile.
In the upper left corner of the Status window there is a button that switches devices to running mode.
Thanks to it, you can keep a constant record of your heartbeat while jogging, fix the route, distance, calories burned, step frequency, average pace and other parameters.
The main indicators are displayed, including: sleep information, weight (set automatically or measured using Xiaomi Mi Smart Scale), heart rate, as well as the results of achieving a daily goal. You can go into each of the indicators and study the statistics in more detail.
Sleep statistics allows you to find out how long it lasted and in what periods it was deep or light. The moments of awakening are also recorded. The application allows you to view daily data, as well as weekly and monthly data.
The weight tracking section will be of interest to those who want to lose weight or gain weight. If you do not have a smart scale that can sync with Mi Fit, you will have to periodically enter data manually.
As for the heart rate measurement, the Mi Band 2 heart rate monitor is able to work both in automatic mode (by pressing the touch button, calling the corresponding menu item) and through the Mi Fit application. The difference is that when called through the application, the measurements will go to the database, and by pressing the tracker button they will simply be displayed on the bracelet display.
In the notification section, you can set up events at which the bracelet will vibrate or display informational messages.
In this item, you can configure informing about incoming calls and displaying the name of the caller on the bracelet screen.

Synchronization with Google Fit
Synchronization of data with a service from Google, which is designed to collect and store data on the user’s physical activity.
In this section, you can mark the periods of performing various physical exercises.
It is assumed that in this case the device learns itself and adapts to the rhythm of its owner’s life.
This section is intended for setting goals, finding and adding friends, turning on activity and sleep notifications, as well as finding friends, setting up and functioning of the bracelet.
Here you can also untie the bracelet from your account or find it if you lost it among the things in the room.
Registering a Xiaomi fitness bracelet
Before using the Xiaomi fitness bracelet, you need to register your own account, which is done through a browser or through a mobile application. The first option involves filling out a questionnaire on the official website, indicating the country, email address and date of birth. When filling out, it is better to uncheck the item “Stay up to date with news and offers from the Mi store”, because this is an offer to send news written in Chinese.
Also, the branded Xiaomi Mi Band Black fitness bracelet, the instruction suggests the possibility of using a phone number instead of email, for which there is a special item at the bottom of the page. After completing all the specified actions, the user will be prompted to enter a password, its confirmation and a verification code. Then you can log in using your login (mail or phone) and the created password.
Additionally, it is possible to register through the application directly from its interface. Everything goes here in a similar way, only when filling out the questionnaire it is better to initially use an email address, because for users of Russia (CIS countries) the possibility of registering by phone number has not yet been debugged.
Xiaomi Mi Band: instruction in Russian for a fitness bracelet. registration of a fitness bracelet. How to enable, configure and connect Mi Band?
Over the past few years, almost all major players in the electronics market have introduced their own wearable gadgets. Among them, there are many smart watches or high-quality sports devices, which is the modern model from Xiaomi. The advantage of the solution from the Chinese brand is not only practicality, excellent functionality, attractive appearance, but also a very affordable price, which no other manufacturer can compete with today.
Traditional for Xiaomi is a responsible approach to the package. The buyer receives a neat box of ordinary gray cardboard. After opening it, the user immediately sees the core of the gadget. Below is a high-quality rubber strap, a USB cable for charging (the charger itself is not included), as well as instructions for the Xiaomi fitness bracelet.
How to turn on Mi Band
Before you turn on the Xiaomi fitness bracelet, you must first recharge it. To do this, one of the sidewalls of the gadget contains two metal contacts placed in the charging slot (when the gadget is fully assembled, you must first remove the cover). Then you need to connect the USB plug to any power source (laptop or smartphone charger).
While charging is in progress, you need to open the application store on your smartphone by installing the proprietary Mi Fit application from it. The program is available for devices running iOS or Android operating systems. It’s better to throw away the standard user manual right away, because it will help you set up the Xiaomi Mi Band fitness bracelet.
The next question is about how to connect the Xiaomi Mi Band fitness bracelet. There is nothing complicated here. the connection is carried out using Bluetooth 4.0 wireless technology, and the user just needs to follow the recommendations of the application. First you need to select the type of device, and when you are asked to click on the gadget, you need to lightly tap it with your finger. A successful operation will be displayed with the inscription “Binding completed”. In addition, as the Xiaomi Mi Band 1S user manual says, after a trouble-free binding, its firmware update will begin. In this case, you need to keep the gadget next to the phone, and upon completion of the operation, you will automatically see the application interface.
Inside the Mi Fit app, there are three separate tabs: Activity, Profile, and Notifications. Statistics provides the ability to view the following information:
Data on the steps taken with a detailed display of activity for the current day. 2. Statistics for previous periods. 3. Ability to group information by days, weeks, months and the general course of classes.
There is also data on the user’s sleep. Statistics are also detailed, including information for the current and previous days, as well as sleep phases, awakening moments, the duration of all phases, and so on.
In addition, Xiaomi Mi Band 1S Pulse, as indicated by the company’s manual, allows you to watch the dynamics of changes in your weight. It also displays BMI, the difference in weight compared to the previous mark. Their introduction allows you to calculate the physique index. All data can be switched between multiple users.
The achievement bar includes indicators for collecting the required number of steps per day. The information is displayed by day, including date stamps when the specified goal was reached by the user. If desired, data can be shared with friends on social networks (messengers) using the appropriate buttons.
The running function can only be used after activating the GPS. You just need to wait until the number of satellites icon turns green, after which you can press the “Start” button. While running, the Mi Fit app will display basic information. Additionally, the program has a “Map” view that displays the trajectory of the run. If you need to stop the function, then just long press the “Pause” button.
- no glow. a third of the planned number of steps has not been reached;
- one flashes. more than 30% passed;
- two flicker. more than 2/3 of the daily plan is completed.
Having reached the goal, the user will feel a vibration, accompanied by a wink of the gadget. When checking the device with a gesture, the completed goal will be displayed by the glow of the extreme indicators, and the flashing three lights, as the official instruction for the Xiaomi Mi Band 1S Pulse fitness bracelet says, demonstrate the excess of the set task.
Additional functions of the device are represented by various notifications: notification of an incoming call, duplication of a telephone alarm clock that works even with a discharged smartphone, as well as message notifications on the phone or in certain applications.
The gadget from Xiaomi is protected according to the IP67 standard, so the device is completely protected from dust and allows you to briefly dive with it to a depth of up to 1 meter. The first version of the gadget had a problem with the quality of the strap, but for new batches a stronger alloy is used, which increased the overall wear resistance of the product.
Xiaomi Mi Band
Fitness bracelets are springing up like mushrooms today, and most of them are similar in functionality. Technically, these are fairly simple gadgets, so all the differences are in design and software. How to stand out, attract the attention of buyers? The Chinese company Xiaomi has chosen the right path by releasing a fitness bracelet with a record low price: only 13 dollars! For comparison, the official price of the Jawbone Up24 in the US is 129.99, which is ten times more (and that’s without state tax).
It is not surprising that the announcement of the Xiaomi Mi Band aroused great interest among gadget lovers around the world. However, as it turned out, for the official price it can only be purchased within China, and even then it was required to make a pre-order, and the available quota for pre-order ended in a few seconds. Of course, this was done by resellers, who then put up the bracelets at a higher price. And yet, the cost of Mi Band, even with all sorts of extra charges, remained more than attractive. So, for example, we managed to purchase a Mi Band for 32, including shipping to Moscow. Try to find a fitness bracelet of similar functionality at least twice as expensive!
At the same time, it is worth considering that Xiaomi is by no means a no-name brand. The products of this company have been attracting the closest attention of the IT press and the public around the world for at least a year. Not only does Xiaomi manage to release technically very advanced products for minimal money, this company also pays much more attention to design than most Chinese brands. On top of that, Xiaomi’s field of interest extends to the widest range of devices: from miniature MiKeys and familiar smartphones to 4K TVs (again at an incredibly low price) and a smart home kit.
But back to the Mi Band bracelet. How did Xiaomi manage to make this product so cheap and how much worse is it than its competitors with a price tag several times higher? Or maybe not worse? Let’s figure it out.
Let’s take a look at the specs first.

In hardware terms, the bracelet is almost identical to such devices as Jawbone Up24 and Sony Smartband SWR10. There are no surprises (neither positive nor negative) here. Therefore, let’s go directly to the study of the gadget.
The bracelet comes in a small unpainted cardboard box.
The bundle is elementary: the bracelet itself (it consists of two elements: the main unit and a silicone strap), a short charging cable and a leaflet with a manual in Chinese.
Special mention should be made about charging. Unlike Sony, Xiaomi opted for a proprietary solution. This, of course, is a minus, because, firstly, you will have to carry this cable with you on trips (whereas SmartBand SWR10 could be charged from any Micro-USB cable), and secondly, in case of loss or breakage of the cable, you will have to buy new bracelet.
On the other hand, there is nothing special to break here (unless the wire itself frays). On one side of the cable there is a cradle, where we put the main unit of the bracelet with the contacts forward, on the other side there is a USB 2.0 plug.
The appearance of fitness bracelets is the main stumbling block: not everyone wants to wear something of dubious beauty on their wrist, especially since the bracelet is supposed to be used not only during classes, but throughout the day. It was the inexpressive design that was the main complaint against the Sony SmartBand SWR10. We expected even worse from Xiaomi: cheap, and even Chinese! But the miracle of the bracelet not only does not cause rejection by its appearance, but, on the contrary, makes you admire the hand in the bracelet for the first time.
All thanks to the oval aluminum surface of the main unit. It is she who attracts attention in the first place when the bracelet is worn.
The back of the main unit in contact with the hand is made of plastic, as are the rounded edges (they are completely covered by the strap when the bracelet is on).
Silicone strap. It provides a snug fit and hold of the main unit, so even with active exercises, the likelihood of the unit popping out of the strap is minimal.
Outwardly, the complete strap is nothing special, although you can’t make any claims to it. Fastening is carried out using a metal pin. Due to the presence of a large number of holes for fastening, the bracelet can be worn by owners of hands of any size and thickness.
The only remark about the appearance of the strap is an oval loop at one end. It is clear that it was made for a more secure fastening on the arm, it is supposed that the other end of the strap should be threaded into it and after that the pin should be inserted into one of the holes. But this loop spoils the aesthetics a little. However, this is already nit-picking, hardly anyone will look at such details on your hand. All attention is drawn to a really beautiful metal oval coating.
We also note one more detail: on the main unit (and even more so on the strap) there are no buttons, connectors or touch zones. The fact that inside the electronics, only two contacts remind. However, when the bracelet informs you of the goals reached, three blue indicators flash on the aluminum surface (their color may be different on devices with a different color scheme).
In general, Xiaomi designers managed to create a device that you can take with you for a run or even to the pool (the bracelet is protected from moisture and dust according to the IP67 standard), but it’s not a shame to put it on under a suit or complement it with a stylish casual look. I never thought that I would use a 13-dollar Chinese bracelet as an example for a similar product from Sony (with a price tag several times higher), but I have to admit: Xiaomi Mi Band is much more attractive than Sony SmartBand SWR10. By the way, among the promo photos of Mi Band there is such.
It is not entirely clear where and when it will be possible to buy such straps, and also what their price will be, but it is obvious that complete with such a strap it will be the most stylish fitness bracelet we have ever seen.
Pairing with a mobile device
To work with the bracelet, you need to install an Android application. Unfortunately, there is no iOS app, and this is one of the main disadvantages of the Mi Band compared to the Jawbone Up24. The second point: the name of the Android app is in Chinese, so finding it in the Play Store is not so easy. The best way to scan the QR code in the manual.
The second problem is that not only the name, but also the application itself is in Chinese, and it is not clear how to switch the language on the very first screens. However, there are already many options on the web with the translation of the application into other languages. For example, on XDA Developers there is a good English version, and on w3bsit3-dns.com. Russian speaking. We just download such an application in the form of an APK file, load it into the memory of the mobile device, allow installation from unknown sources in the Settings and install it. We tested the bracelet with the English version.
The app can be installed on both smartphones and tablets. But you still need a smartphone to create an account. When registering, you need to enter the phone number to which the activation code will be sent. Why such difficulties and why it was impossible to confine ourselves to just mail and a password is not entirely clear. But how is.
Next, you will need to enter information about yourself gender, height, weight, age. The application reports that this is necessary for more accurate processing of data from the bracelet.
Finally, when everything is done, you will see a screen like this. The application interface is very minimalistic and not very convenient, because small translucent letters and icons on a colored background are hard to read. And the icons are not always clear.
Strictly speaking, the functionality and informativeness of the software is very limited. All basic information will be displayed on this screen. The circle in the upper (colored) part shows the ratio of the distance traveled and the remaining distance (relative to the set goal). Below the circle is the distance traveled and the number of calories burned.
At the bottom (on a white background), statistics and the time interval when you were active are displayed in text.
If you click on the line with statistics, you will see extended information and an activity diagram. Please note that the bracelet distinguishes between walking (walk) and running (run).
If we click on the circle in the upper right corner, we will get the same information as in the previous screenshot, but collected in such a way that it is convenient to publish it on the social network. The problem is that only Chinese social networks are supported, there are none here either. So for Russian users, this feature is practically meaningless. By the way, it is curious that when the goal is reached and it is overfulfilled, the background color changes.
Let’s go back to the main screen and swipe across the colored area from left to right. Here we will see information about our sleep last night. Tracking sleep phases is the second key feature of the bracelet (after measuring the number of steps).
The diagram shows how long the user slept in deep sleep (dark areas), how much light sleep (light areas), when he woke up (orange bars), what time he went to bed and what time he woke up. Of course, there is also a smart alarm function. On the main screen, click on the circle in the upper right corner, select Alarm from the drop-down menu.
Here we set the time at which we need to get up (that is, by this time the alarm clock is guaranteed to wake you up) and move the lever opposite Smart Alarm. After that, click Confirm at the top and that’s it, you don’t need to do anything else. You do not need to press any buttons on the bracelet (they are not there), put it into some mode before going to bed. The bracelet will automatically recognize that you have gone to bed and will wake you up by vibration at the earliest half an hour before the time you specified in the program by selecting the phase of light sleep.
What else is the bracelet capable of? It can notify you of a missed call, and you can also use the application to find the bracelet if you forgot where you put it (it will vibrate).
It is reported that smartphones with support for the sixth version of the MIUI firmware (for example, the new Xiaomi flagships) support unlocking with a bracelet. But we tested the bracelet with a device where this feature was not provided. That, in fact, is all.
In the course of use, we compared the accuracy of the Xiaomi Mi Band step measurement with the iPhone 5s, on which the Runtastic Me application is installed. Recall that the iPhone 5s has an Apple M7 motion coprocessor that collects and processes data from sensors (gyroscope, accelerometer, COMPASS), so its competent use allows you to count steps with high accuracy. So, the results of the bracelet and the iPhone 5s were slightly different, but the difference was not so great that it could somehow affect the conclusions during normal (household) use of the bracelet. That is, its results can be trusted.
Similarly with sleep: we tried to cheat the bracelet and just put it on the table, and did not take it to bed with you, but the application later said that you did not wear the bracelet last night. In turn, when the bracelet is really worn on the hand at night, it wakes up quite correctly and, thanks to the convenient compact strap, does not really interfere. As a minus, we note that if the bracelet is discharged at night, then it will signal a couple of times right in the middle of the night, after which it will turn off completely and will not wake you up in time. You have to be very careful to ensure that the bracelet is not discharged.
If you don’t follow up, you risk oversleeping. It is strange that the developers did not provide for some kind of fallback, for example, so that the mobile device with which the bracelet is connected signaled at the right time.
True, without recharging, it works for a long time promised about a month, and although we did not use it for a month, judging by how the charge decreases, we tend to consider this close to the truth. Note that the information about the remaining charge is not very intuitive: in Mi Band Settings. To get to it from the main screen of the application, you need to make two clicks.
There is no indication of the remaining charge on the bracelet itself. As for the three LED indicators, when charging, they glow green, when signals are blue, and if you raise your hand in such a gesture as if we are watching the time on a wristwatch, then as many LED indicators will blink, how many percent of the goal have been reached or how much charge is left. For example, if we have passed a third of the required number of steps, then one indicator lights up, if two thirds, then two. But this is in theory, but in practice it works with varying degrees of success. And the ability to glow in different colors is practically not used for any informative purpose (I already know that I am charging the bracelet, there is no need to report this in a separate color). In general, while the indicators are nothing more than a decorative element, which, however, in the future (when finalizing the software) can become a useful information element.
Another disadvantage: the bracelet does not have a reminder mode for a long period of inactivity, as in Jawbone Up24. There is also no daytime sleep mode (again, it is in Jawbone Up24, and many people love it very much: for example, if you want to take a nap during the day and there is such an opportunity, then this mode allows you to sleep for about forty minutes and wake up before the body goes into deep sleep phase, and therefore, after waking up, you will feel rested and refreshed).
And the last. The bracelet sometimes synchronizes with the application for quite a long time, and if the mobile device turns off the screen, the process stops and you have to start it again. By synchronization, in this case, we mean the transfer of information from the bracelet to the mobile device. The fact is that it is not at all necessary to constantly wear a bracelet with a mobile device. At the end of the day, you can simply connect the bracelet to your smartphone / tablet and press Sync. Then the activity data for the past day and sleep for the past night will be transferred to the application. And this process takes from ten to fifteen seconds (if the bracelet and the mobile device did not part at all, and the previous synchronization was carried out quite recently) to a minute or two. For comparison, in Runtastic Me on iPhone 5s, a similar operation is carried out in any case in a few seconds, although the essence is the same: transferring data from sensors to the application (I don’t think that the amount of data is much more than the width of the Bluetooth 4.0 channel, so it’s unlikely the problem of the slow synchronization of the bracelet in this).
Before us is a very simple and nice device that copes well with all the tasks assigned to it and has no critical flaws. Of course, the Xiaomi Mi Band software is inferior to some analogues in terms of functionality and convenience (note that unimplemented functions such as daytime sleep or activity reminders are software flaws that are not so difficult to fix yet). However, we cannot say that the same Sony SmartBand SWR10 or Huawei TalkBand B1 are many times better. Yes, they have their own features, advantages, interesting additional features (headset mode for TalkBand B1, smartphone control for SWR10), but does this justify such a price difference??
Imagine that Xiaomi entered the Russian market with this bracelet, translated the application into Russian, implemented integration with our popular social networks, made official support and delivery. Under such conditions, and it would be a hit and a very powerful competition to the above devices. Today you can buy it even cheaper, albeit without the Russian language, social networks and official support. Story? Undoubtedly.
Of course, Mi Band is difficult to compare with Jawbone Up24, because both in terms of software functionality and in terms of reputation in the world of fitness enthusiasts, Jawbone Up24 is many steps further. And most importantly, Jawbone has much wider support for different smartphone models, including the iPhone. True, the price of Jawbone Up24 is many times higher than that of Mi Band. Therefore, we can say that these devices are just for different audiences, like, say, a mid-budget Android smartphone and Vertu. But for any lesser-known brands that are trying to ride the wave of popularity of fitness bracelets today, the competition with Xiaomi is simply deadly, especially if the Chinese company does something to bring this device to the market outside the Middle Kingdom.
In the meantime, Xiaomi Mi Band is an ideal option for those enthusiasts who have no problem placing an order in a foreign online store and want to try what kind of animal this fitness bracelet is, but paying a few thousand rubles for this is a toad strangling, because you are driven by pure curiosity. and not serious intentions to plunge headlong into the sport (there are more functional devices for this). In addition, this is a great gift for a relative or friend (of any gender), especially if you help with installing the application and don’t say how much this gadget costs 🙂
For a great look at a minimal cost, we present our Original Design award.

Instructions for setting up a Xiaomi Mi Band 2 fitness bracelet
Among all the Spectra of useful electronics, smart watches and sports trackers occupy the first place in terms of sales. Xiaomi has carved a niche in this market thanks to the compact devices of the Mi Band series. The second generation received an OLED display, which significantly expanded the capabilities of the device. features means more scope for customization. Read on to learn how to set up and use the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 fitness bracelet.
Setting the functions of the Mi Band 2 bracelet
Now that the tracker is completely ready for use, it needs to be configured. This is done using the Mi Fit application. On Android, it can be downloaded from Google Play, while iPhone users should search the App Store. A brief overview of the customizable features of the bracelet:
- screen unlock. allows you to remove the lock from a smartphone tied to Mi Band 2;
- calls. displaying information about an incoming call on the watch display, vibration notification, call control;
- alarm clock. silent effective alarm clock with calculation of sleep phases;
- apps — brings app notifications to the Mi Band screen;
- inactivity. if the user has been sitting motionless for an hour, the watch will remind you to warm up;
- messages. shows information about the messages that came to the phone;
- device alarm clock. vibrates, duplicating the sound alarm clock of a smartphone;
- programming goals. if you set a goal for the day in terms of the number of steps and reached it, you will receive a notification about it;
- do not disturb. select a period of time when the gadget does not vibrate and does not receive notifications so as not to disturb the owner.
In addition, there are a number of functions that are configured separately, they set the general behavior of the tracker.
- Finding a bracelet. turns on a triple vibration to find a gadget if it is lost somewhere. Drains battery quickly with frequent use.
- Visibility — switches the visibility mode of the Bluetooth module. If disabled, then no phones in the area will be able to connect to the bracelet, but the already established connection and binding will work. Turning on visibility may be needed to pair the tracker with applications other than the standard Mi Fit. This is required to download custom firmware.
- Location. depending on which hand you wear the watch on, select the appropriate option.
- Wristband screen settings. select the items shown on the display.
- Time Format. There are two options. Just clock and clock with date.
- The backlight on the clock. this item has nothing to do with the backlight. In fact, the function allows you to turn on the display not only by pressing a button, but also by moving your wrist. You need to wave your hand the way you do when you look at the clock. False positives are a common problem, so the option is not for everyone.
- Rotate your wrist to switch between items. in addition to the previous setting, turning your hand not only turns on the display, but also switches menu items, similar to pressing a button.
- Pulse detection. there are three options for the operation of the pulse sensor. Manually. the calculation is carried out only at the user’s choice. Automatic. measurement is carried out around the clock at intervals of 1, 10 or 30 minutes. Sleep assistant. the pulse is counted by a clever algorithm from time to time to determine when the user has fallen asleep. At the same time, a conclusion is made about the quality and depth of sleep according to the pulse.
Smart alarm clock
Initially, Mi Fit does not have such a function. The built-in vibration alarm works well, but it does not adjust to sleep phases in any way, it just turns on at a predetermined time.
It is possible to link data from the heart rate monitor to an alarm clock so that the device wakes you up in the most appropriate phase of sleep. In this case, the user specifies an extreme wake-up time, for example, 7 o’clock in the morning. Falls asleep, the watch begins to count the pulse and process information. In the morning, the program analyzes the information and wakes the person up in the half-hour interval between 6:30 and 7:00, adjusting to the data on the sleep phase.
Thus, the awakening is easy, and the morning is good. To enable this feature, you will have to use third-party applications. They are paid, but there is always the opportunity to download for free if you search the Internet.
To set up an alarm, download and install two apps: Sleep As Android and Tools Mi Band. The first is a smart alarm clock with rich settings. The second is an analogue of the “native” Mi Fit with advanced features. Both are in the Play Store.
- Enable motion tracking with the accelerometer in Sleep As Android. To do this, go to Settings. Wearables. Use wearable.
- Set up heart rate monitoring while you sleep. This is done in Tools Mi Band. Menu items: Navigation drawer. Heart rate. Settings. Set the interval at which the bracelet will take measurements. Then go to Sleep As Android, Settings. Wearables. Heart rate monitoring and enable heart rate monitoring and there.
Overnight, the battery of the device sits down by about 5%. In Sleep As Android after a night, you can see detailed graphs with information about sleep.
You do not need to set the time to a specific value. The watch itself picks up information after synchronization with the phone. The accuracy of the time display on the bracelet depends on the readings of the smartphone. The correct readings are provided by the telecom operator, usually the device receives the time value from the cellular network.
Entering wear location settings
The operation of the algorithm that counts steps and calories burned depends on which hand you wear the gadget on. Specify the correct place to wear. You can set this in Mi Fit on the “Profile” tab. Mi Band 2. Device location.
Display information on the bracelet
The following items are available to display on the screen of the fitness bracelet:
Switches items one by one, sequentially, by pressing the touch key or by turning the wrist if the corresponding option is selected.
In addition, the display of the name of the caller is available, which is configured in the “Calls” column on the “Profile” tab.
It is possible to connect an alarm about application notifications of your choice in the corresponding menu item. The “Messages” item works in a similar way, the screen displays the name of the contact who sent the SMS, and the first few words. Select the programs whose notifications you want to duplicate on the bracelet display.
You can turn on the “Receive only when the screen is off” option so that the watch does not vibrate when the smartphone display is active. Some applications have special notification icons, while most use one standard picture with the inscription App.
Before starting work
You received a box with a long-awaited gadget and unpacked it. What to do next?
Xiaomi Mi Band 3 Hands-On and Set Up
If you ordered a separate wrist strap from another manufacturer, then insert the plastic capsule of the device into the slot of the silicone strap. In addition to rubber, there is a wide range of leather, metal and polymer straps for every taste.
The assembly principle is unchanged. insert the capsule only from the back side. Otherwise, over time, the silicone retaining ring will stretch, and the watch will begin to fall out of the mount. When you put the bracelet on your hand, the loop should look down, and the end of the strap with the button up.
During the postal delivery or being in the warehouse, the battery of the device was discharged. It is possible that the gadget will be completely disabled. Insert the capsule into the socket of the charging cable that comes with the kit. The oval protruding window of the photoplethysmograph must fit into the semicircular groove of the connector. You can’t insert it the other way around, otherwise the polarity is violated and the battery may become unusable.
Find a free power supply that provides a charge current of no more than 1 A and is equipped with a USB connector. In order to reduce the cost, the manufacturer does not put his charger in the box. Do not use powerful blocks from tablets and modern smartphones with a current of more than 1 ampere. The battery doesn’t like it.
Insert the cord with the connected capsule into the power supply, plug the latter into a power outlet. The charging process takes an hour and a half, if everything is done correctly, then the battery indication will immediately appear on the display.
You cannot turn the device on or off, it always works as long as there is enough energy in the battery. The display is activated by pressing the touch button. Additionally, you can set the inclusion by turning the hand.

Reset to factory settings
You cannot reset data directly. When the watch is unlinked from the phone, statistics are deleted from Mi Fit. The bracelet has its own memory module where information is stored. It is erased only when the tracker is turned off, which happens after the battery is completely discharged.
Some users advise putting the capsule in the freezer to speed up the discharge process. Indeed, at low temperatures, lithium-polymer batteries lose capacity. But this method cannot be recommended, because there is a risk of damaging the device and the battery.

We go to the “Profile” tab in Mi Fit and scroll down the page. Click the “Unbind” button. How to set up comfort features
This section of settings is also numerous. For example, you can set the screen to activate when you raise your wrist, or turn on a more eye-friendly night mode with a reduced screen brightness. Separately, let’s talk about the choice of the hand on which the bracelet is located. It is recommended to wear it on a less active hand, since it is more often relaxed and makes fewer movements. Thanks to this, the fitness bracelet is less mistaken when measuring heart rate, training, and in other cases. You can choose the right or left wrist in the section “Bracelet location”.

Taking the new version of the bracelet out of the box for the first time, many owners of the previous generation noted the slightly changed material of the strap. The bracelet is still made of rubber, but it has become a little more rough, but only a little. It became noticeably stiffer, which had a positive effect on the fixation of the capsule in the bracelet. During use, we also noticed that the rubber from which the bracelet is made stretches much more slowly.
The size of the bracelet has remained the same, the adjustment range will be sufficient for both owners of graceful and wide wrists. During the day, it is practically not felt on the hand. The texture of the rubber does not allow the bracelet to slide strongly on the hand and, at the same time, due to the low coefficient of friction, it does not cling to clothes and does not collect dust on itself.
The design of the bracelet has not changed at all. The first generation of the fitness tracker was often criticized for its uncomplicated appearance, but it was the most neutral exterior that became one of the elements of Mi Band’s success. The main part of the bracelet. a capsule in which all the electronics are hidden. is made mostly of plastic, the upper part is covered with an aluminum panel with polished edges.
The capsule turned out to be a little thicker due to the appearance of an optical heart rate monitor in it, but the difference with the previous generation is minimal. It is worth noting that the straps from the first version of the bracelet fit the new one without any problems.
Working with notifications
It’s no secret that one of the most requested features of the Xiaomi Mi Band is the ability to silently notify you of calls, messages, and other events. To do this, the novelty uses three LEDs and a vibration motor. Unfortunately, as in the second revision of the first generation Mi Band, the 1S is equipped with only white LEDs, which somewhat reduces the usefulness of the light indication.
The official application provides the ability to display notifications from three additional applications, you can set a delay before vibration on an incoming call. To get more options for customizing notifications, we recommend installing third-party versions from enthusiasts.
There are no complaints about the work of the vibration motor, its strength is at the same level, it is perfectly felt in any situation.
heart rate monitor
Now let’s move on to the main feature of the bracelet. In our experience with optical heart rate devices, we had serious doubts about the accuracy of heart rate measurements, especially in training mode. However, the bracelet was a pleasant surprise.
So, Mi Band provides several ways to use the built-in heart rate monitor. The first is the ability to check the pulse. To do this, go to the appropriate section of the application and activate the pulse measurement. The measurement lasts for about 5 seconds. Unfortunately, Mi Band does not measure the pulse constantly throughout the day, on the other hand, this would most likely reduce autonomy many times over. There are no complaints about the accuracy of measurements in everyday life, it did not show any anomalous values. For a correct pulse count, the capsule must fit snugly against the skin, but you should not tighten the bracelet too much for this.
The second function using the heart rate monitor is running tracking. In the corresponding section in the application, you can enable heart rate measurement, as well as enable notification of exceeding the upper limit of the heart rate zone. During the run, the current heart rate is displayed on the smartphone screen, in addition to the pace, stopwatch and distance.
We tested the bracelet on runs with a Polar WearLink Nike chest heart rate monitor connected to a Nike SportWatch GPS watch. The results of the heart rate monitor in the bracelet pleasantly surprised us. During the run, the heart rate was monitored both on the watch display and on the smartphone display. Regardless of the pace or level of sweating, they almost always coincided. The only difference is a longer polling interval, which is why the Mi Band did not always have time to display the current heart rate on time. We do not have official data on the sensor polling interval, but “by eye” it is no more than 30 seconds, which in practice turns out to be an acceptable result.
If you turn on the running mode to constantly display the pulse during weight training, then the situation changes dramatically. In this mode, the bracelet has never shown accurate or even close to accurate values. The scores were generally on the lower side. Most likely, the reason lies in certain software optimizations of the heart rate monitor during running and their absence for other types of physical activity.
On the other hand, if you start the measurement of the pulse forcibly, then we did not notice much difference with the chest heart rate monitor. Of course, in this case, you will not be able to immediately control your pulse at the end of the approach.
The first Mi Band rightly received criticism for the not entirely correct operation of the pedometer. No, the steps as such were counted accurately by the bracelet, but it also successfully counted other actions as steps.
For the purity of the experiment, we compared the new product and the previous generation. For several days, both bracelets were on the right hand, but were connected to different accounts with the same data.
Unfortunately, the situation in the new generation has not changed. Both bracelets show different data, but in both cases, ordinary household activities, such as washing dishes or brushing teeth, were counted as steps. Probably, the reason is the excessive sensitivity of the sensors, but the fact remains. If you are primarily interested in counting steps, then be prepared to see a rather large error in the statistics. Although, in fairness, the bracelet calculates the distance covered in running mode quite well, its accuracy is quite comparable to GPS trackers.
To synchronize the data collected by the bracelet, a proprietary application for the Mi Fit smartphone is used. For more than a year of existence, the application has acquired additional functionality and support for the Russian language. The basic principle of the application has not changed. But for new users, we remind you that before starting work, you will need to create an account in the Xiaomi database, where your settings and data collected by the bracelet will be stored.
In the new generation, the company has not changed the basic concept laid down in the first model. As before, the main functions of the bracelet are: counting steps, tracking sleep phases and notification of incoming events. Added to this list is the measurement of heart rate. Considering Xiaomi’s focus on health, this is not surprising. Next, we will look at each of the main functions in detail.
Xiaomi Mi Band 1S fitness bracelet review
The first model of the Xiaomi Mi Band fitness bracelet gained well-deserved popularity and allowed the company to take a strong position in the wearable electronics market. A year later, it’s time to get acquainted with the second generation, which received an optical heart rate monitor and retained an attractive price tag. In the review, we will compare the new product with the previous generation of the bracelet, and also tell you how well it copes with the function of measuring heart rate.
If you are not the owner of the first generation Mi Band, then it is strongly with our review, since further in the text we will repeatedly compare these two devices.
I also decided to keep up with the fashion for a healthy lifestyle, a beautiful body and sound sleep. I bought myself a pedometer, about which I will describe in more detail below. I think if you set a goal to burn a certain number of calories per day, the Xiaomi Mi Band fitness bracelet is the best controller in achieving it.
Hundreds of thousands of articles have been written about this bracelet on the Internet, so I will try not to rewrite what has already been written, but to add personal impressions from the operation of the fitness bracelet from Xiaomi.
The parcel with the track number arrived pretty quickly, less than a month.
I ordered with an extra strap. Here is the content of the package:
Packed Mi Band in a traditional Xiaomi box made of “environmentally friendly” cardboard.
Completeness is as follows: the bracelet itself, a strap for it, a charging cord and instructions in Chinese.
In this way, this bracelet charges its built-in Li-Po battery with a capacity of 41 mAh.
Charging takes a couple of hours, and the full charge is indicated by three green indicators.
The Mi Band capsule itself is very small, and weighs only 5 grams.
As you can see, the Xiaomi Mi Band smart bracelet is protected from water and dust according to the IP67 standard. Theoretically, you can go to the bath or shower, but I still take it off. Although it is possible to dive and swim, according to reviews there were cases of damage. Therefore, it is better not to take it for rest / beach / sunbathing, or washing / swimming / steaming in the bath. Yes, and it is not needed in these cases.
The total length of the strap is 230 mm, the allowable girth ranges from 157 to 205 mm. Suitable for both women’s and children’s hands.
It barely fits on my wrist. The clasp is supposed to be secure, and it probably is on a small wrist. On my hand, there are often cases when the clasp was unfastened, so there is a great desire to buy another strap, leather (for example, here).
XIAOMI REDMI BAND. ОБЗОР И ПЕРВАЯ НАСТРОЙКА
Talk about losing the capsule itself is also probably for a small wrist. I had no problems with this.
How to connect Xiaomi Mi Band to a smartphone.
No matter how I tried to bypass the registration, anyway, to start the bracelet, you need to register a Mi Fit account, which will store all the statistics on the bracelet.
Xiaomi Mi band application in Russian (Mi Fit) was taken from w3bsit3-dns.com. There, people ate more than one dog on this. The program runs smoothly, without glitches. Everything is in Russian, there is no Chinese.
Be careful, the bracelet requires Android 4.4 or later and Bluetooth 4.0 or later.
I had to go through a hell of a circle while I installed Xiaomi Mi2S Android 5.0 on my smartphone.
When you connect for the first time, the application will update the firmware of the tracker.
My battery lasted 80 days! Some recommend not discharging below 50%. I agree with them.
How to use the Mi Fit app.
The Mi Fit app is easy to understand.
Graph of daily steps taken and calories burned.
Quality and duration of sleep in the past days:
Quality and duration of sleep last night:
deep sleep, when a person does not see dreams, and it is difficult to wake him up. And if you try, it will be a very difficult climb
we see light sleep and experience lucid dreams. It is in this phase that you need to get up so that the awakening is easy and there is a charge of vivacity.
About smart alarm clock with sleep phases:
For myself, I set up a Xiaomi smart alarm clock. Within half an hour before the set time, the bracelet determines in which phase of sleep you are. If in a light one, then the Mi Band will vibrate several times and wake you up. If you have not woken up or are in a deep sleep phase, then it will vibrate exactly at the specified time. For me personally, the bracelet helps to avoid situations when the alarm clock wakes you up, you get up, and you wake up only after half an hour.
A very useful feature if you have a small child who does not want to be woken up by loud noises.
I also use a vibrating alert: when there is an incoming call, the bracelet vibrates.
PS: to complete the picture, in the Mi Fit application for Mi Band, there is a page for Mi Scale scales. True, the price tag bites, but you can buy these scales on aliexpress without any problems.
Advantages: Autonomy of work. Light weight. Democratic price. Excellent workmanship.
Disadvantages: does not support older smartphones. It would be nice to have a watch on a bracelet, IMHO.
Conclusion: I recommend to buy.
How to disconnect Xiaomi Mi Band from phone.
After using the bracelet, I thought about how to turn off the fitness bracelet? I took it off my hand and put it for a week: nifiga, worked, fixed the state of rest.
I didn’t want to wait for the battery to be completely discharged and leave it empty, you know why.
And then they told me why he didn’t pass out: I had an alarm clock set, which regularly buzzed all the time.
So to turn off the Mi Band, you need to turn off all alarms / reminders via your smartphone, and with the bluetooth turned on, delete the Mi Fit application, and you will be happy.
The bracelet successfully worked with the Xiaomi Mi2S 32 GB smartphone, purchased earlier on Aliexpress.

Mi Band 3 is not charging what to do?
If the device was purchased from a trusted manufacturer, there should be no problems with charging. Included with the sale is a standard charger. If you have problems with receiving a charge, you can judge a factory marriage.
If the failure occurs after a short period of use, it is recommended to check whether the device and the application were used correctly. If you experience problems with charging, you need to check the implementation of the following recommendations:
- use of charging, what comes with the kit, does it work;
- if the device is charging from a laptop, then you need to use the appropriate USB port;
- when using a power adapter, make sure that the output is no more than 700 mA. If the indicator is higher, the battery will fail much faster;
- when charging, the capsule is carefully removed from the strap and installed in the charger so that the contacts match exactly and tightly.
If everything is in order with the equipment, a full charge can be achieved in about two hours. After that, the device will work for several days.
The functionality of the described device is wide, it is described in detail on the official website. Fewer and fewer people use the bracelet as a simple decoration. The purpose is to notify the owner of incoming calls and messages and receive information. Among them, users note:
For the implementation of such options, the gyroscope and accelerometer built into the Xiaomi fitness bracelet are responsible. Information about the general state of sleep and rest is obtained. Users purchase the device in order to track heart rate and as a nice addition in the form of music switching.
A special optical sensor is responsible for the accuracy of the indicator, which works due to the light transmission of the body. The tracker measures changes, and the application reflects information on how the frequency changed throughout the day and how much it changed compared to previous periods. To access them, unpack the device, remove the film and turn on.
There are several actual secrets for using the chiaomi gadget. One of them deals with the problem when the user’s attention is occasionally presented with the message Open application.
