How To Set Up Mail On Ipad

How to add Yandex mail to iPhone or iPad

Unfortunately, neither iOS nor macOS has a template for adding Yandex mail to the standard Mail application, as, for example, in the case of Gmail. However, setting up Yandex mail is not particularly difficult.

To set up mail from Yandex in the standard Mail application, you need to manually enter account settings. An alternative option is to use the official mail client for iOS (links to applications at the end of the article).

If you decide to add mail from Yandex to the standard Mail application, follow these steps:

1. On iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app, go to the Passwords Accounts section and select the New Account option.

2. Follow the path Other → New account.

3. Enter your name, e-mail and password for the Yandex account and click Next.

4. If, after clicking the Next button, a checkmark appears next to each item, then the data entry was successful.

If an error message appears instead of the checkboxes, double-check the entered data. If you are sure that you are entering the correct username and password, and the program re-displays a notification with an error, go to the instructions below, where the process of setting up Yandex.Mail on iOS is described in detail.

5. The next step is to choose which information from the Yandex service should be displayed on the device. Turn on the Mail option, and if necessary, for example, Notes.

6. Click the Save button.

By default, on iOS and macOS, Yandex mail is automatically configured via the IMAP protocol.

7. Get started with email on iPhone or iPad in the Mail app.

How to set up (add) Gmail on iPhone or iPad

Mail on iOS has two options for setting up your email account: automatic or manual. One of them will probably suit you

What to do if Yandex mail is not added to the iPhone and iPad or does not work correctly

1. Go to the Yandex account management page using this link.

2. Important! Check which account protection tools are included. Yandex offers three protection methods:

  • Password for entering the permanent password specified by the user is used;
  • Two-factor authentication for login, a one-time password generated by the Yandex.Key application is used. If two-factor authentication is enabled, you cannot use a permanent password (details);
  • Application passwords for login, a password is used that must be created specifically for each third-party application, be it an email client (for example, Mail on iOS and macOS), Yandex.Disk, etc. (in detail). You cannot use a permanent password when application passwords are enabled;

If you want to use a regular password to log into your mail on iOS or macOS, turn off the two-factor authentication and app passwords toggles on this page.

If you need to increase account protection using the above tools, keep in mind that when setting up Yandex mail on iPhone, iPad and Mac, you must also use the corresponding passwords.

3. Important! Check if support for IMAP or POP3 protocols is enabled in Yandex mail settings.

Yandex mail settings on iPhone or iPad via IMAP

Check if support for working with the IMAP protocol is enabled in your Yandex.Mail account. For this:

Click on the Settings icon in the upper right corner.

Click the link All settings.

Click the link Mail programs.

Enable the From server imap.Yandex.Ru option via IMAP protocol.

Save changes and start setting up mail on iPhone or iPad using the instructions above.

To set up Yandex mail on an iPhone, iPad or Mac using the IMAP protocol, you must specify the following information:

Mail server address for incoming mail imap.Yandex.Ru or imap.Yandex.com;
The Use SSL switch in the Advanced section is enabled;
Server port 993.

Mail server address for outgoing mail smtp.Yandex.Ru or smtp.Yandex.com;
The Use SSL checkbox in the SMTP section → The primary server is on;
Server port 465 or 587.

To access the mail server, enter your Yandex username and password (or the application password if you have enabled two-factor authentication). If you configure receiving mail from a mailbox of the form login@yandex.Ru, the login is the part of the address before the @ sign. If you use Yandex.Mail for Domain, you must specify the full mailbox address as a login.

    Go from your computer to the Yandex.Mail website.
    Click on the Settings icon in the upper right corner.
    Click the link All settings.
    Click the link Mail programs.

    When using the POP3 protocol, all letters from folders that you specify in your Yandex account settings (link) along the Settings path → All settings → Mail programs will be saved by the mail program to your computer in the Inbox folder. If necessary, you can set up filters in your email program to automatically move letters to the required folders. Emails you send will only be stored on your device.

    Keep in mind that when downloading messages from a server using the POP3 protocol, Yandex.Mail automatically saves copies of messages on the server; you can only delete them manually using the web interface. If you want to delete messages that are on the server directly from the Mail app on your iPhone, iPad or Mac, use the IMAP protocol.

    To set up Yandex mail on an iPhone, iPad or Mac using the POP3 protocol, you must specify the following information:

    Mail server address for incoming mail pop.Yandex.Ru or pop.Yandex.com;

    Setting up Gmail, Yandex and Mail.Ru mail on iPhone and iPad

    Greetings to you, the owner of a wonderful gadget or gadgets based on the iOS operating system (iPhone, iPad), which is different in every sense of the word. Today I will tell you (and show you in) how to set up mail on an iPhone or iPad. In fact, the process of setting up mail on both of these devices is identical, there is no difference.

    Now let’s return directly to the topic of setting up mail on Apple devices iPhone and iPad is quite a simple procedure, of course, provided that you know how to set up.

    What difficulties any iPhone and iPad user will face when setting up mail:

    • The complexity of adding Russian mail servers. It is quite natural that iOS (iPhone, iPad) was primarily created for foreign users, so the settings are set only for popular foreign mail servers;
    • Problems with IMAP. I don’t know what it’s connected with, but no matter how much I tried to set up receiving and sending mail via IMAP (as recommended by Apple), nothing worked for me, so I had to set it up via the POP protocol, it will be used to set up mail on iPhone devices and iPad.

    So, let’s move on to setting up various mail servers on the iPhone and iPad, consider three services: Gmail (a service from Goolge), Yandex (mail) and Mail.Ru (mail).

    Mail.Ru

    Setting up a mail.Ru mailbox is almost the same as setting up Yandex mail:

    • Go to the settings of your iPhone or iPad;
    • Choose an item “Mail, addresses, calendars”;
    • Next, you need (in order to start the process of creating a new account) select the item “Add account”;
    • In the menu that opens, the field, from all possible options, select the item “Other”;
    • Next, you need to select the item “New account”;
    • Enter all the data and press the button “Further”;
    • You should get an error, do not be alarmed, this is normal;
    • Choosing POP;
    • In field “Inbound server”, in line “Hostname” write the text “pop3.Mail.Ru”, in field “Name” we write the address of our mailbox without “@ mail.Ru”, those. Only the first part of the address to, dog, sign “@”;
    • In field “Password” register a password for your mailbox;
    • In field “Outgoing mail server” in line “Username” remove the second part of the address to the sign “@”.

    That’s all for today, I hope that now you know how to set up mail on iPad or iPhone. Share this little material on social networks.

    How to add multiple mailboxes?

    This question will inevitably arise if you have several mailboxes. It’s just that a similar thing can be done in the iPad settings. If you want to add a second, third, etc. Email account on the iPad, then you need to do this along the path: Settings. Mail, addresses, calendars. Add an account.

    Theory and settings of mail systems

    Quite a bit of theory: there are two protocols through which mail is received and sent. Pop3 and IMAP. In order not to tire with terms and explanations, I will briefly say how imap differs from pop3.

    The difference is for example: imap loads letters, you can mark the letter as unread and at the same time a mark will appear on the server that the letter is unread. This cannot be done with Pop3. And so on.

    Below are the settings for the most popular mail systems in Russia. If you use mail from another service, you will find the imap and pop3 settings on the site of this system.

    Set up Gmail on iPad

    We find the mail icon (Mail), which in iPad by default is in the status bar at the bottom.

    An important point!

    Actually, the first part of the instruction is suitable for all mail services that you see in the next screenshot, and not just for Gmail (iCloud, Exchange, Yahoo, Aol, Outlook). Perhaps Apple will add others in future versions of iOS.

    Click on the desired service, for example Gmail. Further from us it is required to enter:

    Name we enter what you would like to be displayed in letters from you.

    The postal address that you have in the Gmail system (for example, ivanov-ivan@gmail.com)

    Password password from your mail on Gmail

    The default description will be the same as in the Address field, but you are free to create your own description of this mailbox (for example, “my spare box for letters from my mistress”) this is useful if you have multiple mailboxes.

    How to fill in all the fields, button “Further” will become active. Here you can click it. A window appears that prompts that Gmail features Contacts, Calendars, Notes. The corresponding toggles indicate whether or not you will sync data with Gmail services. If you are in doubt or do not know what it is, then read at your leisure my article on Google Contacts and their practical application.

    Press the button “Save”.

    This completes the initial setup of Gmail for iPad. You will see an empty program window and letters will be loaded from the server.

    Of course, all emails will not be loaded.

    Yandex

    Pop3:
    Incoming messages (POP3) mail server pop.Yandex.Ru
    Outgoing messages (SMTP) smtp.Yandex.Ru

    Imap:
    Incoming messages (IMAP) mail server imap.Yandex.Ru
    Outgoing messages (SMTP) smtp.Yandex.Ru

    Mail.Ru

    Pop3:
    Incoming messages (POP3): pop.Mail.Ru
    Outgoing messages (SMTP): smtp.Mail.Ru

    Imap: Settings: IMAP server imap.Mail.Ru;

    Imap port 143 (when using STARTTLS encryption) and 993 (when using SSL / TLS encryption)

    Smtp 25, 587 or 2525 (no encryption) and 465 (encrypted)

    Useful settings in settings

    It can be useful to set up automatic mail checking every few minutes or an hour and notify you about it in notifications.

    We do this in Settings-Mail, addresses, calendars-Loading data.

    I personally set the parameter to myself “Manually”. Firstly, in my opinion, there are no urgent emails that need to be answered instantly. Secondly, it saves battery power a little, which is most important to me. But if you want auto-notification about letters please.

    In the same settings, in addition to adding, you can delete a mail record. To do this, click on the desired mail entry and a red inscription will appear below the settings “Delete your account”. You can also edit the settings of the mail connection right there, if you have changed the password or something else is wrong.

    Let’s go over the rest of the mail settings, which are located in the Settings-Mail, addresses, calendars section.

    View here you can specify the number of lines that is displayed when viewing mail in the left column. With the parameter “Not” you will only see headers:

    And with parameter 5 also the beginning of the letter

    Me / copy If you enable this switch, then when you send a letter, you will receive a copy of your letter. I do not recommend turning it on, since all the same copies of all letters go to the Sent Items folder.

    Checkbox style to choose from two display styles for flagged emails.

    To confirm deletion, I recommend setting the switch to ON. Ipad will ask you to delete emails again. Otherwise, you might inadvertently delete an important email. But it is worth noting that most mail systems delete messages in a temporary trash can and they can be restored.

    Loading images if the switch is enabled, Mail will automatically load and display images in letters. If you want to manually load only the images you are interested in, then disable the parameter.

    Organize by topic grouping related messages. If enabled, then Mail automatically links letters of the same subject and displays them in one fell swoop. Since it is convenient, I do not recommend turning it off.

    Always copy yourself the same as the function “me / copy”. If you enable this switch, then when you send a letter, you will also receive a copy of your letter. I do not recommend turning it on, since all the same copies of all letters go to the Sent Items folder.

    Quote level adds a level of indentation when forwarding or replying to a message.

    The signature can be substituted by a default signature, which will automatically be added to your letters when sent. It is useful that the signature can be set for each mailbox.

    Uch. The default Mail entry on iPad has support for multiple mailboxes. Therefore, when sending letters, it is better to set the default mailbox, which is your main one. The interlocutor receiving your letter will see this particular mailbox.
