How to install Windows in a laptop (for example, ASUS GL703GE)
This instruction tells how steps to install Windows if you want to reinstall the operating system, or install it on a laptop for the first time on which there has never been an operating system. Now many manufacturers offer to purchase a laptop without Windows as an option. This is a very reasonable solution if you want to save a lot, if you use Linux as the operating system, or you already have a Windows bought earlier than the previously bought.
I will show with the example of the ASUS GL703GE. This model just has such an option (option without Windows).
How to determine the configuration of the laptop
In the Windows 7 operating system, this is done in two clicks, and by itself:
Basic information as shown in the screenshot, I emphasized with a red line. But I think that specifically for this case, the main type of system will be the main thing, that is, its discharge.
Interested in installing Windows 7 from a laptop flash drive? So, there is no drive in your computer or it has broken.
Что делать в ситуации, когда с компакт диска осуществить загрузку не представляется возможным? There is a solution: you can install an operating system from a flash drive.
Before starting a description of the Windows installation process from a Flash card, we list all the main stages of this process, and then consider them in more detail:
- First: Preparation of the laptop for the installation of the operating system (in this case Windows 7)
- Second: Preparation of flash drives
- Third: UEFI setting up for loading “Operations” from a Flash card.
- Fourth: Installation itself.
Note: UEFI. Replacing the outdated BIOS.
Asus Laptop Install Windows 7 With UEFI Boot
Check the BIOS settings
Without a bootable flash drive and a pre.Installed OS, the entrance to the BIOS will be automatically executed, or press the ESC key with a frequency of about 3 times a second when a laptop is turned on to get into the download menu.
Note: The points on the ranges of the marked X initially do not exist on the menu until Windows has been installed
In the download menu and select Enter Setup item
By default, all factory settings are made correctly and does not need to change anything. It is important that the FAST Boot setting should be installed in Enabled, and the Secure Boot Control setup should be installed in Disabled. The lack of a lamp CSM on the Boot tab does not matter, in my case it was not there either.
In the Boot menu, the Fast Boot option should be installed in Enabled
Install Windows 7, 8, 10 in any Asus laptop with CD or USB |Tech Buy|
In Security menu, the Secure Boot Control option should be installed in Disabled
Check and, if necessary, change and save the BIOS settings. Turn off the laptop.
Starting stage. Entrance to the BIOS system
The first thing we need to do for this is to go to the BIOS settings menu. We click the button with which we always turn on the laptop, and until the asset logo is displayed on the screen or load Windows, quickly press the F2 key, which is located on the upper right part of the keyboard. Depending on the model, it can also be Dell or F4 keys. Which button is most advisable to press, depends on the motherboard of the laptop. However, if you do everything correctly, then the BIOS settings menu will immediately open before you. Here you will see information about the characteristics of your laptop.
After we launched the BIOS menu, a window with certain options will open before us. We should find a item called “Boot” and click on it. The navigation system provides for the use of arrow keys to go between the menu bookmarks.
Then a menu from several points will open before us again. From the proposed list we should choose a item that has the name “Boot Device Priority”. Note that it will be very easy to find it, since it is at the head of the list.
The bottom line is to set the priority of the device from which the operating system will be loaded. It can be a hard drive, a disk launched through a drive or a USB drive.
After that, in the window that opened in front of us, at the 1st Boot Device point, we will need to indicate from which carrier the laptop will be loaded. In this case, we need to set the load from the disk, for this reason we put CD-ROM in the first place.
When you do these actions, you need to press the F10 key so that all the changes introduced are preserved.
Thus, you have prepared your device for downloading from the disk. If you need to change the settings in the priority, then do the same when choosing the point you need.

Loading asus laptops from flash drive
In general terms, the algorithm repeats the method that is identical to everyone, but there are several nuances that we will get acquainted later.
Of course, you will need a boot flash. Methods of creating such a drive are described below.

How to download an asus laptop from UEFI BIOS from a flash drive
Brought me the other day ASUS X541N laptop. We asked to install Windows 10 on it, or Windows 7. I have a multi.Loading flash drive with different versions of operating systems, which I did a couple of years ago. I stuck this flash drive on a laptop, turned it on and began to press the Esc key on the keyboard. I thought I would quickly control Windows, but it wasn’t there.
After pressing the ESC key, a window appeared with a offer to choose a boot device. But there was no flash drive in the list. Only a laptop hard drive was present. I moved in this window to the “Enter Setup” item. In front of me, the modern UEFI BIOS laptop ASUS. BIOS Utility. Ez Mode:
Over, in UEFI, my flash drive was displayed in the “USB Port” section, but she was not in the “Boot Priority” section. This meant that I could not choose it as a boot device, and install Windows from it.
Then I decided to try to change the bios settings. I had already done so before Lenovo (he also had UEFI BIOS). I will say right away: if it helped in the situation with Lenovo, then it was with this ASUS laptop that the change in the settings did not give anything:
I moved to “Advance Mode”. In the Security section I turned off the safety protocol (set the Secure Boot Control parameter in Disabled):
Further in the Boot section, I turned off the FAST BOOT parameter (fast loading): then retained the changes and rebooted. After rebooting, I again entered BIOS in the Boot section.
But there was no and did not appear in this section “Launch CSM” (and no other similar, for example: “CSM”, “CSM Boot”, “CSM OS”, “Legacy BIOS”). In other models of ASUS laptops, after activating this option in the Boot section, there was an opportunity to boot from a flash drive.
And now I’ll tell you how I solved this problem and still installed Windows on the ASUS laptop:
Modern laptops have UEFI BIOS. In order to load from the USB flash drive in UEFI and install Windows on the GPT-Disk-this flash drive should be formatted in the FAT32 file system.
Therefore, if the BIOS of your computer does not define your USB flash drive as a bootable, then first check what file system it has.
I inserted my flash drive into another computer. I went into its “properties” and saw that it was formatted in the NTFS file system:
Then I just cleaned it and re.Created a loading flash drive with Windows in the FAT32 file system.
After that, I again inserted it into the ASUS laptop. Turned it on. Pressed the ESC key several times on the keyboard. There was a window with a proposal to choose a boot device. And this time in it, in addition to the hard disk of the laptop, was my flash drive. I chose it and started installing Windows. I didn’t even have to go to BIOS and change something there.
You can read about how to create a bootable flash drive with Windows.
I want to install Windows 7 on a laptop GPT-disc. BIOS. UEFI. But nothing comes out. During the installation, the laptop hangs on the Windows logo and nothing happens further.
To install Windows 7 in the UEFI mode on the GPT-disk-first turn off the Secure Boot parameter in the BIOS (Safe loading Protocol).
Secure boot turned off. It did not help. What else will you advise?
Then I would advise you to switch to Bios to Legacy (or CSM. Depending on which laptop), and then redvert the hard drive to the MBR format.
Why at all install the seven on the GPT disk? Would then put a dozen
Flash drive with windows 7 in FAT32, but it did not help. Security Boot is disabled, Fast boot too. And the WHO and now there.
Please tell me, does not want to start from the flash drive. Issues 0xc000000D and curses to the Boot file in the EFI catalog
Hello, tell me, I really want to put the seven from me asus fx505gm
It was 2018, and I’m the third day, forgive for expression, fuck with a laptop in the hope that right now this damned flash drive wants to download Windows. Checked on other laptops. Everything works. But on this version, the BIOS is not a fig. I can’t install on top either. Miracle-Linux does not allow to do this, citing the fact that Linux does not recognize formats.EXE. What to do? How to be? Who to complain.
The disk was made as usual orefus. So it turned out that I have 10 Vynda for 4.5 GB, when choosing a FAT32, he reported that the file is too large (up to 4GB) and was automatically put in NTFS. It was on the SD card on 128GB. But it wasn’t there, I decided to try 64GB with a flash drive, and I managed to record it in FAT32, Eureka!
The sections scheme chose MBR for computers with UEFI.
Further, when loading, I pressed it on Escape, entered the Boot Menu and chose to load from the flash drive.
Here is the end of this end, the author of the article is a great fellow! Success!
Very, very, very much thanks to the author. Almost a day killed on this stupid muck, which can only load with FAT32.
ASUS X705MA-BX014 (without SIDYUK) The same “song” with seven. With USB Sidyuk, BAY BIT. But the flash drive with a dozen was in the veil32. Alleyi. No questions. Over, in Bios, everything that the author turned off (secuisa boot and fast boot) is Enabled. DRP 17.7.4 Helped half. On the offset firewood only under wines10/64 I will download
Windows 10 Setting after installation
Here you have finally installed the system of some of the methods described above. But before you start using it, it is recommended to perform a number of settings. The minimum recommendations after installing the system are as follows:
- Check the presence of the system updates and immediately install them if possible;
- Move antivirus software. Although the built.In Windows defender copes well with its work, but is still inferior to paid and some of the free antivirus programs;
- Make sure that all drivers are installed correctly. Windows 10 downloads independently and installs drivers for your equipment. But sometimes it happens that it is impossible to choose high resolution or sound works with interruptions. In this case, it is necessary to install drivers manually.
It is good for a novice user to just be able to install Windows. But experience is never superfluous, so it is useful to know all the methods of installing the operating system. This will allow you to deal with the installation of Windows 10 on any computer and under any circumstances.

Reinstallation of Windows on laptop
When we are talking about reinstalling the Windows on the laptop, we mean the wrong process that occurs on the desktop PC. Each model is a unique device with its own set of components. Hence the difficulties: after installing the system, you will need to find and install drivers designed for a particular laptop.
In fairness, it is worth noting that the laptops have one huge plus. If the factory system was not replaced by “its own, more convenient”, then we have the opportunity to use “native” programs to restore. They allow the OS to roll back to the state in which she was at the time of purchase. At the same time, all drivers are preserved, which saves us from the need to search for them. In addition, in this case, the installation carrier is not required, since the disk already has a special section containing files for recovery.
Next, we will consider two Windows reinstalls.
Installation of drivers and the necessary software
Although the operating system is installed, the laptop cannot fully function. Devices lack drivers, and for ease of use, several programs are also required. Let’s look at everything in order:
Installation of drivers. If the laptop has a disc, then most often there is a disk with official drivers from developers. Just run it and install it. In the absence of DVD, you can download the Driver Pack Solutions or any other convenient program for installing drivers to the DVD drive. Alternative method. Manual installation: you just need to put only a network driver, and everything else can be downloaded from official sites. Choose any way convenient for you.
Now that the Windows 7 operating system and all the necessary important programs are on the laptop, you can safely start comfortable use. After the installation is completed, it’s enough to go back to UEFI and change the boot priority to the hard drive or leave everything as it is, but insert the USB flash drive only after the start of the OS so that the launch will go correctly.
