How To Log In To Itunes From A Computer

By authorizing a Mac or Windows computer, you give this computer access to your music, movies, and other content.

  • You can authorize no more than five computers. Thus, content can be played on five different computers.
  • The computer cannot be authorized from another computer or from an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

Before you sell or donate a computer or send it for service, you must deauthorize it to prevent it from access to protected purchases. Learn how to see which devices are logged in and how to remove them.

How to authorize a Mac or Windows computer

  1. On a Mac: Open Music, Apple TV, or Apple Books. On a Windows computer, open iTunes for Windows.
  2. Sign in with your Apple ID.
  3. From the menu bar on a Mac or Windows computer, select “Account” “Authorization” “Authorize this computer.”
When requesting re-authorization of the computer, the new authorization will not be used. Only one Apple ID authorization is bound to one computer.

In case of exceeding the permissible number of authorizations, it is necessary to deauthorize all computers

If one of the five authorizations was made for a computer that is no longer in use, deauthorize it. If one of the five authorizations was made for a sold or donated computer, select “Deauthorize All” on the “Account Information” page. Then authorize the computers that are currently in use.

Authorization of other Apple devices

You do not need to authorize your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or other Apple device. These devices do not use the authorizations available to you. Learn how to see which devices are listed in the device list of your Apple ID account, which devices are signed in, and how to remove the device.
