How to Identify Hp Pavilion Dv6000 Laptop Series

How to find out a laptop model. quick and proven ways

Hello friends, I am glad to see you on our blog In this article I will tell you and clearly show how to find out the model of the laptop.

How to Identify Hp Pavilion Dv6000 Laptop Series

In the last issue, we learned how to take a screenshot of a screen in a couple of clicks. Today we’ll talk about laptops, how to determine their model and main characteristics.

We recognize the model

Advanced computer users probably know how to do this, but there are people who don’t know this. So, especially for you, I decided to write this article how to determine the model of a laptop.

A small outline of the article:

  • Packaging and documents
  • Front or back panels and stickers,
  • Under the battery (battery),
  • View in BIOS,
  • Computer properties
  • Command line,
  • Msinfo32 System Information
  • DirectX Diagnostic Tool,
  • Programs Aida64 and Everest.

Let’s start in order from the very beginning.

Packaging and documents

Few people leave or store packaging and documents from laptops, but warranty cards are stored more often. If you still have packaging or documents from the computer, you can look in them. If you still have a warranty card, then the laptop model is also written in it.

If you have no packaging, no documents, no warranty card, then I suggest considering the following options.

Front or back panels and stickers

On Asus laptops, a sticker with the model and basic characteristics is usually glued on the front side.

On laptops from Fujitsu-Siemens or just Fujitsu, you can find the name of the line of the personal computer model series.

For example, in the Lifebook line, this designation can be seen in the upper left corner of the laptop. Also on some models of other brands in the corner or side of the case they write a series and a model.

Look carefully at your laptop, if you are reading this material from a laptop computer, you may find letters and numbers of a series or model of your computer.

We look under the battery (battery)

Typically, on the case under the battery and on the battery itself, the model and other data of the laptop from HP, Asus and Acer are written.

Let me give you an example on a Asus laptop.

As you managed to notice, on the battery this inscription is found in two places, on the front one and where there are contacts.

View laptop model in BIOS

To find out your laptop model through BIOS, this is probably one of the fastest and easiest ways. Unless of course you have a bios password that you do not know. If you do not have it, then you can safely use this method.

To do this, when you turn on the computer, you need to press the and buttons several times. If you have a HP computer (Hewlett-Packard), then in order to get into the BIOS, you need to press the key.

We go to the Advanced or Info tab and look at the model of your computer.

Computer properties

You can use the My Computer shortcut on the desktop or through the Start menu A computer. Earlier, I already wrote how to find out the characteristics of a computer.

Go to Computer The properties Counters and Performance Tools Display and print detailed computer and system performance information.

After which you will see the Additional computer information window, in which you can see the information you are interested in and also print this page.

Command line or CMD

You can see the computer model through the command line, for this we press the key combination we enter and press Enter. Want to know more about the keyboard buttons and use them to the maximum, then I recommend reading the article Windows 7 Hot Keys.

In the black window that appears, enter the combination and press Enter.

Then you should see the message Name and the model of your laptop. Here is an example:

C: \ Users \ Userwmic csproduct get name Name

LIFEBOOK AH530. this inscription is the model of your laptop.

Msinfo32 System Information

You can use another convenient tool to view system information. To do this, call the Run window again and enter.

A system information window will open in front of you, listing a large list. Starting on behalf of your operating system, version and ending with the page file.

DirectX Diagnostic Tool

There is another way to see a description of your laptop using the DirectX diagnostic tools. To do this, run the Run window again and enter.

This program will help you get detailed information about the installed components and drivers.

Aida64 and Everest Programs

If you want to get extensive information about the characteristics of your computer, you can use separate third-party programs. I’m used to working with Everest, I use Aida64 less often. Of course, there are other programs, but I will not touch on them in this review.

Everest and Aida64 are similar utilities, they have almost the same functionality and interface, only the names are different.

You can download these two programs using the links below:

Get to Know Your Laptop Model: Ten Available Ways

To prevent compatibility issues when replacing components or connecting new equipment, you need to know the laptop model. Below, we will consider several proven methods, thanks to which the question of how to find out a laptop model will no longer be difficult for you.

Laptop case, stickers, battery

There is little hope for packaging from a laptop or some documents. usually all this is thrown away immediately after buying a laptop. But if you still have a manual, then you can look at the information about the laptop.

A more realistic way is to find stickers on the front or bottom of the laptop. They show complete information about the device, including the manufacturer, series and model. For example, Acer Aspire 5745G.

If the stickers are torn off the case, then try to see the model on the laptop battery. Turn it over and find two latches (maybe one). Turn them to the open position and remove the cover to remove the battery. The battery will be written by the manufacturer (for example, HP or DNS), as well as the series and model.

Use of software

If the information you are interested in is not indicated either on the case or on the battery, then you can resort to software methods for determining the exact model of a laptop. Let’s try to do this through the command line:

  1. Click WinR.
  2. Write the query “cmd”.
  3. Enter “wmic csproduct get name”.

The model of your laptop will appear in the windows interpreter window. you just have to rewrite it or remember it. If you are not friends with the command line or just want to double-check the information, see the model of your laptop in the “System Information” window.

  1. Click WinR.
  2. Enter “msinfo32”.
  3. Look at the lines “Manufacturer” and “Model”.

The manufacturer’s line indicates the specific brand. Sony Vaio, Dell, Lenovo. The model is indicated by numbers and Latin letters. Here you need to be careful: as part of a series of laptop models may differ in one sign.

Since we went for system utilities, we will not pass by the DirectX diagnostic tool. Despite the implicit attitude to the question of determining the model of the laptop, here you can also find all the necessary information:

  1. Click WinR.
  2. Enter “dxdiag”.
  3. Look at the lines “Manufacturer” and “Model”.

These are proven options that work on laptops of all manufacturers, whether it’s common Samsung or more rare MSI. There are other ways: for example, sometimes information about a laptop is fixed in the “System Properties” section. To open it:

  1. Right click on “Computer”.
  2. Select “Properties.”
  3. Find the line “Model”.

Note: this method does not work on all laptops. For example, Asus with windows 10 installed does not contain such information in the system properties.

Another option is to look at laptop information in the BIOS. Reboot the laptop and press Del (maybe another key) until the window of the basic input / output system appears. There should be an Info tab, inside which the basic information about the device is indicated.

Computer Monitoring Utilities

Information about the laptop provides various programs for measuring temperature and other indicators of the device. For example, you can use the HWMonitor utility.

  1. Download and install the program.
  2. Launch HWMonitor.
  3. Take a look at the first line (right after DESKTOP).

The line will indicate the manufacturer of the laptop (HP, Lenovo) and its model. You can double-check the data using the program AIDA64. Although it is a paid utility, it has a trial period (30 days), which is enough to determine the model of the laptop.

  1. Run the utility.
  2. Click the Computer tab.
  3. Open the “DMI” item.
  4. Go to the “System” section.

Programs that provide detailed information about the computer, a lot; You can look at the laptop model in any utility for monitoring the system. By the way, after obtaining the necessary information, do not delete these programs. use them to constantly be aware of the temperature of the processor and card.

How to find out a laptop (workstation) model

The methods described below will help you find out the model of a laptop, workstation, or computer motherboard.

What is the exact model name or part number for?

Part number or the exact name of the model is used to search for drivers or compatible components on the manufacturer’s website.

Model and Modification

Computer manufacturers rarely release one modification of a particular laptop model. As a rule, several modifications of the product are produced in the same housing. The most expensive modification may have a powerful processor, for example, Core i7, 8GB of RAM and a powerful adapter from nVidia. And the budget one can be equipped with a low-power Celeron, two gigabytes of RAM and an integrated adapter from Intel. At the same time, the appearance of the device will look exactly the same.

In this case, many manufacturers on the front of the product indicates only the product line. For example Asus 500 Series. Or the HP Pavilion DV6000. However, it is extremely important for the user to know the exact model in order to download the necessary drivers. And the exact name of the model or its part number is on the bottom of the product: for example, Pavilion DV6125.

In the case of HP, the term Notebook Model means the name of the model. And Product Number (aka part namber, part number, product number, product code) is a unique product identifier that serves to indicate modification.

Where to see the name of the laptop model (workstation)

1. On the bottom of the laptop

Turn off the laptop. Turn over and lay it on a soft cloth so as not to scratch the top cover. In most cases, information about the model and modification is contained on the bottom cover of the product:

2. Under the battery or on the battery

Turn off the laptop. Wait until the noise of the cooling system and the hard disk stops. Then remove the battery. In our case, the model and part number were found on the laptop case under the battery:

3. Using the command line

wmic csproduct get name

If you execute this command on a desktop computer, you will receive either the name (if it is a branded workstation) or the model of the motherboard:

As you can see, in the case of a computer, we got the exact model of the motherboard. But in the case of a laptop, we found out only the general name of the series and this information is not enough for us to search for drivers. Therefore, the command line will not always solve this problem.

4. In BIOS

For different laptops, model information may be contained in different sections. Usually, they are called Main or System information.

This is how the BIOS of the HP G62 laptop looks:

And here is the BIOS of the older HP Compaq nx6310:

5. Using software

The model and modification of the computer (laptop, netbook) can also be found using special utilities. AIDA64 is ideal for such purposes.

Launch the AIDA64 program.

Computer = DMI = System

Example No. 1. We launch the AIDA64 program on the laptop.

In the Product field, only the basic model of the laptop is displayed. the HP G62 Notebook PC, which we already know. But in the SKU # field we see the part number XU610EA # ACB, which is enough to fully identify the device on the manufacturer’s website:

Example No. 2. Desktop

By running the program on a desktop computer, we see the motherboard model in the Product field, because the system unit is not branded.

6. On the package

If you still have the packaging from your laptop, find it and try to find information about the model and its accessories. Very often, such technical information is printed on a white sticker or white rectangle on the end of the package.

The most accurate information about the model and modification of laptops can be obtained from the BIOS and special software AIDA64.

How to find out a laptop model

In some cases, you may need to know the exact model of the laptop, and not just the manufacturer ASUS or ACER for example. Many users are confused by such a question and are not always able to determine exactly what is required.

In this article I want to dwell on the simplest and fastest ways to determine the model of a laptop that will be relevant no matter what manufacturer your laptop (ASUS, Acer, HP, Lenovo, Dell, Samsung, etc. relevant for everyone).

Consider several ways.

1) Documents upon purchase, passport for the device

This is an easy and quick way to find out all the information about your device, but there is one big “BUT”.

In my opinion, there are even simpler and faster ways to determine the laptop model without any papers. About them below.

2) Stickers on the device case (side, back, on the battery)

On the vast majority of laptops there are stickers with various information about the software, device specifications and other information. Not always, but often among this information there is a model of the device (see. Fig. 1).

Fig. 1. A sticker on the device. Acer Aspire 5735-4774.

By the way, the sticker may not always be in a visible place: it often happens on the back of the laptop, on the side, on the battery. This search option is very relevant when the laptop does not turn on (for example), and you need to determine its model.

3) How to see the device model in the BIOS

In BIOS, in general, you can refine or configure many points. The laptop model is no exception. To enter the BIOS. after turning on the device, press the function key, usually: F2 or DEL.

If you have problems with entering the BIOS, I recommend that you read a couple of my articles:

Fig. 2. Laptop model in BIOS.

After you enter the BIOS, just pay attention to the line “Product name” (Main section. i.e. main or main). Most often, after entering the BIOS. you don’t even need to go to any additional tabs.

4) Through the command line

If the laptop has windows installed and it boots. you can find out the model using the usual command line. To do this, enter the following command in it: wmic csproduct get name, then press Enter.

Next, the exact model of the device should appear in the command line (example in Fig. 3).

Fig. 3. The command line. Inspiron 3542 laptop model.

5) Via dxdiag and msinfo32 in windows

Another easy way to find out a laptop model without resorting to any specials. software. it is to use the system utilities dxdiag or msinfo32.

The operation algorithm is as follows:

1. Press the WinR buttons and enter the dxdiag (or msinfo32) command, then the Enter key (example in Fig. 4).

Fig. 4. Launch dxdiag

Then, in the window that opens, you can immediately see information about your device (examples in Figs. 5 and 6).

Fig. 5. Device model in dxdiag

Fig. 6. Device model in msinfo32

6) Through special utilities to inform about the characteristics and condition of the PC

If the above options do not fit or do not suit. then you can use specials. utilities in which you can find out in general, probably, any information about the installed glands in your device.

There are many such utilities, some of them I cited in the following article:

Staying on each, probably, does not make much sense. As an example, I will give a screenshot from the popular program AIDA64 (see. Fig. 7).

Fig. 7. AIDA64. summary information about the computer.

This is the end of the article. I think the proposed methods are more than enough # 128578; Good luck!

How to find out the model of your laptop. name through the command line, where possible, accurate and complete

Each user always has a question about the model of his laptop. The reasons are different: you need new software, you need to correctly ask for advice on computer forums or hand over the device for repair. To find out the exact model of the laptop, there are several simple ways.

The PC system code is contained in:

  • box, documentation;
  • on the front panel;
  • on the bottom;
  • in the BIOS;
  • in internal programs;
  • in additional software.
  • If you do not have access to the PC, or it has broken, and you are afraid to touch it, then the best solution is to look for the name of your device in the instructions or on the box. The product system code is located directly on the front of the box or at the back of the box in the product description. If you could not find it, you should get all the documentation for your device and look there.

    You do not need to look for the PC system code in the operating instructions. they immediately examine the entire product line, and the only thing you can extract from it is the product brand. You need to pay attention to the warranty card and other similar papers, where the full name of the model is indicated several times at once, all the nuances, the installed operating system, and so on are included. This paper is useful to you if you try to return the device under warranty. do not throw it away.

    If the first method did not help you, you do not have a box with instructions, feel free to proceed to the next paragraph.

    Front Panel

    If the laptop is left without documents, Modern laptops have a line on the front panel. the name, brand of the product. If you need an accurate product system code, this method will not work. only the common name of the model is indicated here, without a description of the modifications, assembly versions, year of release.

    The desired line can be above the screen, under it, next to the touchpad, near the hot keys. Inspect all these places, and if you still could not find the name of your device.

    Looking under the battery

    The last “manual” way to determine the model is to remove the battery. If you have never done so, gently turn the unit over and lay it on a stable surface. Inspect the panel: at the top or bottom edge you will find a rectangular part, separated from the rest by a small cutout.

    Pay attention to the nearby buttons and levers. there should be signs next to them explaining the sequence of their pressing. Press and pull on them, and then carefully remove the battery. Under it you will find many different badges and inscriptions, look among them.

    This option will work in almost every case, unless the labels are erased. In this case, there remains one option. to search in the internal software.

    Sometimes the name is included in the factory labels on the bottom of the device. Inspect them; these labels are rarely erased due to the strength of the stickers. Sometimes, though very rarely, the stickers themselves peel off. If this happened, you did not find any designations, you will have to find the device name through the laptop itself, or rather in the information contained in the system files.

    How to find a laptop model through the command line

    The fastest way to find out the name of a laptop model is to write the appropriate inscription on the command line.

    To do this, you need to do the following sequence of clicks:

    1. Click the start icon on the taskbar
    2. a search bar will open at the very bottom. enter the command line symbol “cmd.exe” there;
  • one file with the same name will appear, click on it;
  • a black window has opened before you;
  • write in it the phrase “wmic csproduct get name” without quotes;
  • You will receive the full system code of your PC.
  • In the event that you need to find out not only the name of the device, but also its other characteristics and parameters, you need to use third-party software.

    The Internet contains a huge number of utilities in order to find out a complete summary of the characteristics of your PC. Let’s consider some of them:

    Different computers use different buttons to enter the BIOS on different computers. When you turn on the PC, you will see inscriptions at the bottom. pay attention to the signs F1, F12, delete, F8. Check the inscription following these keys. choose the one next to which there are the words BOOT, BIOS. Press the appropriate key on the keyboard. This must be done when the window with the inscriptions is lit, with the windows logo it is too late to do this.

    There are a variety of BIOS versions on a PC. But in each of them, there is a name for the device. It can be on the very first screen, or on other tabs. click on the upper labels. Be careful! If it seems to you that you are doing something wrong, reboot.

    Remember, this method is the most complex and most dangerous for the device. Use it as a last resort when others have not helped.
