Can I Connect the Switch Lite to a TV?
The Switch Lite can be connected to the HDMI port on your TV using the adapter cable, but the mini console just won’t display.
Plug one end of the HDMI cable into the bottom connector on the dock labeled HDMI OUT, then plug the other end of the cable into the HDMI connector on your TV or monitor. Close the back cover of the Nintendo Switch dock. Disconnect the right and left Joy-Con controllers from the console.
How to connect your Wii to a modern TV?
Apparently, the Nintendo Switch can be used in dock mode without being connected to the docking station. Nevertheless, the docking station still needs to be somewhere nearby. You’ll need an extra USB Type C cable (male connector) and a tablet stand for this idea.
How the Nintendo Switch normally connects to a TV
The power and data for all of these connections are converted to USB-C, which is then routed to the bottom of the dock. Here, one USB-C port connects to the docked Nintendo Switch. This single port charges the battery and keeps the device powered in the dock. It also sends video data to the TV through HDMI and controls data from the USB drive.
Choose the correct TV input
It’s also worth mentioning to check if the correct TV input on your TV was selected or not. If your TV has multiple HDMI ports, try plugging an HDMI cable into a different port.
Also, if the dock is connected to the HDMI 1 port, make sure you select HDMI 1 in the TV input setting with the remote. Choosing a different input or a different HDMI port number on the TV won’t work.
If you can continue to connect the console through the component cable, but you have lost any element that allows you to turn on the console, you can always buy a replacement for that component in trouble. Some of the more common ones are:
Touchpad: is responsible for controlling the movement of the Wiimote pointer. The original cable is very thin, so if for any reason it is broken or you lose sight of the bar, you can always buy a replacement to avoid trouble. You have two options, buy one that looks like the original, or a more completely wireless one that works pretty well. The latter is ideal for installations where the TV is away from the console (be sure to place it on top or bottom of the TV).
Another spare classic. current transformer. You can’t turn the console on without it, so if it eventually breaks or, again, you’ve overlooked it, you can easily buy an extra one.
How to connect a switch without using the original bracket
If you are concerned about the complexity of the process, you can rest easy. Using any of these alternatives does not entail any difficulty. You just need to understand how the original accessory works.
The dock for the Nintendo Switch is just a support that, using the USB-C connector on the bottom of the console, adds connectivity: HDMI, USB and additional USB-C for charging. So, knowing that, let’s look at the other options you can use.
The first and, in turn, the easiest solution. is to purchase an alternative support. This class of equipment can include better cooling. Have more ports and to avoid the problem that bothers us, they do not have this front it can damage our screen.
There are many models of this type of accessory, but to make your search a little easier, we’ll show you two options that we found most interesting.
Brackets and connectors
Other connection option. Buy two different accessories:
- Support : you need a base that supports the console so that, as we mentioned at the beginning, the ventilation system of this equipment works properly. In addition, this will facilitate the connection of the section to another fundamental element. And for most wunderkinds, there are coasters with a game Theme based on: Mario, Zelda, etc.
- Connectors This is a fundamental element because it is what gives us the ports we need to connect. They are known as HUBs and through the USB-C connector add ports such as HDMI (to display the picture on the TV), a connector for charging or USB ports.
With these accessories at our disposal, we place the hub in the USB-C connector of the switch, add the charger of this console to the adapter and use an HDMI to HDMI cable to connect it to the TV. We support this set on support and voila, we can start playing on the big screen.
These are alternatives to the original Nintendo Switch doc. If you have any questions about these devices or the connection or usage process, feel free to leave us a comment and we will resolve the issue as soon as possible.
Can you play the Nintendo Switch Lite on your TV?
Yes, but without the docking station that comes with the traditional Nintendo Switch. Again, you must purchase third-party solutions designed for the smaller Switch Lite.
The photo above should visually explain why, but here are the dimensions of each (in inches):
|Switch Docking Station||6,75||3,25||0,75||n/a|
The problem here is the width. Measure the distance from the inside of the left Lite mini-joystick to the inside of the right mini-joystick, and the result is 6.125 inches. much less than the width of Nintendo’s dock.
Due to the lack of removable controllers, this model will never fit into the original docking station without major hardware modifications to the latter, namely tearing off 0.3125 inch of plastic on each side of the dock stand. It’s just not practical, not to mention ugly.
The only thing you tin can use is a traditional Switch power adapter.
For third-party docking stations designed specifically for the Switch Lite, HORI’s Dual USB Gaming Cradle is a great solution. Note that this docking station also includes two additional USB-A ports, so you can connect wired controllers like the Nintendo Pro Controller. This wired connection eliminates the lag associated with wireless controllers during gaming.
Even if you don’t need a dedicated docking station, the USB-C port allows the console to connect to a USB hub with multiple ports. Then you can pull out the console stand, connect some wired controllers, plug in some extra Joy-Cons, and play in desktop mode. Talk about the party!
