Is the screen really damaged??
First of all it is necessary to find out if we are dealing with a software or hardware malfunction. In order to rule out a software problem, try the following steps.
In the Play Store you will find a lot of applications for display diagnostics. With their help, in many cases you can find out what is wrong with the touch screen. We recommend you try the Display Tester app, a fairly simple and effective tool for diagnosing software failures and hardware malfunctions of the display in general and the touch screen in particular.
Download and run the Display Tester app, then click on the Tests tab. Here you can check a number of things, including whether or not there are any broken pixels and burn-in on OLED screens, whether color settings are applied correctly, the condition of the touch panels, and more.
If all the tests are positive, then most likely the problem is with third party software. Check recently installed applications. If that doesn’t help, try resetting the phone to factory settings.
Reboot your phone
It may seem that rebooting will not solve such a complicated problem. However, this method is often more effective than is commonly thought. When rebooting, all background services stop and then restart. If the touch screen of your phone or tablet does not work due to a software failure, the likelihood of full recovery after a reboot is quite high.
Press and hold the power button. From the menu that appears, select “Restart” if you have this option. If the touch doesn’t respond at all and you can’t select the reboot option, hold down the Power key for a few seconds to turn the smartphone off completely, then turn it on by pressing the same Power key.
Boot into Safe Mode
In Safe Mode only applications that were originally installed on the phone by the manufacturer are launched. Your installed services and applications will not work. If the device display functions normally in safe mode, the problem is most likely due to a third-party application.
To enter safe mode, on most newer Android mobile devices, you need to press and hold the Power button until the shutdown menu appears. When you hold your finger on the “Power Off” item, a prompt to enter safe mode will appear.
To exit safe mode, repeat the procedure until the shutdown menu appears, then press “Restart”. If the touch screen is completely non-functional, you may not be able to select the appropriate menu item, or to boot the device in safe mode. In this case, it makes sense to connect an external keyboard and mouse to the phone, at least as a temporary measure until you go to the service center.
There are a number of software ways to fix the problem
If the sensor does not work partially, download the Rebooter app, which will help you to quickly reboot your device. If the sensor does not respond completely and the smartphone has a removable battery, simply remove the battery for a couple of minutes.
With devices that have a non-removable battery, you should do things a little differently.
Owners of Xiaomi, Meizu or Digma devices can hold on the on/off button for 20 seconds or longer and the smartphone will reboot or shut down. If you have a Samsung or Sony, press and hold the on/lock and volume buttons simultaneously for 7-10 seconds. If that didn’t work the first time, try again, but hold down the buttons longer. Owners of other brands of devices with a built-in battery should also try the above options.
If pressing the buttons has no effect, wait until the battery is completely drained and then take the device to repair.
Removing the memory card and SIM card
Sometimes the memory card or SIM card is to blame for touchscreen malfunction. To check this, turn off your smartphone, remove both cards. After rebooting, check if the problem has disappeared.
Through Safe Mode
Completely turn off the device. Then press the power button, and don’t release it until the smartphone logo appears on the screen. After that release and press volume down button. Release it when the device boots up, and “Safe mode” will appear on the bottom left of the screen.
If the safe mode does not show any problems with the sensor, it means that the problem is with one of the applications that you need to uninstall or update to the latest version.
This is a full reset of the device to factory settings.
Before you reset your phone to factory settings, don’t forget to back up all important data stored on your device.
Third-party display calibration
Play Market has applications that can calibrate your touchscreen to improve its performance. It would take too much time to review all the applications, so we will focus on the one that received the highest score from users.
This Android app has two functions:
- conducts tests and reports on what fragments are not being used, why accuracy is low and why the screen sensitivity is lame;
- corrects errors in automatic mode.
The app has the additional feature of allowing you to change the orientation of the screen. You can select an area that responds in a different part of the display when touched.
Remove the protective film
Yes, a protective film can protect the display from scratches and other minor mechanical damage, but the protective plastic or glass can also prevent a signal from being transmitted to the touch panel when touched. As a result, the sensors may either react to touch with a long delay, or, if the signal does not pass, do not react at all.
If, until recently, the touch worked fine, then remove the protective screen. Of course, it is far from certain that the problem will be solved, but it is worth a try. Either way the sensitivity of the screen will certainly improve.
What you need to replace the sensor on your phone
To replace the sensor we need a minimal set of tools and materials:
We remove the back cover of the phone and take out the battery. We can say that we have done half of the job:)
We unscrew all screws and we put them in a place for storage not to be lost.
After that plastic card disconnect halves of the phone case
Release all the latches and remove the back of the case
Unhook all interfering loops. On this phone it is only one. from the display
We check that nothing else is holding and remove the phone board
We see the sensor cable. Here it’s primitive, so it’s not even attached to the board, but just pressed down. This is a resistive sensor. You might have a capacitive one. it’s bigger and connects to the board usually through a connector. How to disconnect them is written in detail in the article Replacing the touch screen on the tablet. I strongly recommend that you read it.
Now we need to unglue the sensor from the phone body. To do this, we pick it up and with our plastic card guide around the perimeter of the sensor
Warning! Be careful when peeling the sensor and take precautions because it is glass! You can cut yourself, splinters can fly into your eyes and so on!
With tweezers we remove the remaining splinters and remove the workplace from the glass.
It is taped on both sides. And without a film it will not be exchanged under warranty, if suddenly it turns out that it does not work! So our task is to connect it to check it, and only after removing the protective film, glue it back in place.
So we put everything back together in the reverse order, but we don’t glue the sensor in. Turn the phone on and, touching the sensor, check its operation over the entire area.
If everything works fine, then remove the film, remove the debris from the display, and press the sensor back into place.
Here you may reasonably have two questions:
Answer to the first question. Don’t rub it with anything, it won’t do anything but scratch it. The best way for me to clean the display is the usual scotch tape! Simply glue and peel it off in sequence over the entire display area and all contamination will remain on the scotch, not on the display.
The answer to the second question. In this phone, the adhesive compound is applied to the device itself and it stays sticky for years. The main thing that after disassembly did not get on it dust and debris. But in most cases the sensor is glued to double sided tape, which is glued around the perimeter of the new sensor. You only need to remove the protective film or paper and glue the sensor in its rightful place.
Here, in principle, and all the easy steps to replace the phone sensor. As you can see, it’s quick and easy.
Replacing the touchscreen on the tablet with their own hands. Instructions
Unscrew the two screws from the end of the tablet
Unscrew the two screws from the end of the tablet
Use a mediatrist or plastic card to go around the perimeter of the tablet, snapping off the latches
Attention: It is not necessary to stick the card deeply, so as not to damage the plume
Carefully remove the back cover, take the speakers out of it and move it aside so that it does not interfere
You don’t have to do this, but for safety reasons it is better to unsolder the positive wire from the battery on the board. It is usually red
Now disconnect the touch screen flat cable from the board
To do that, you need to move the black tab upwards and the flat cable will slide out of the connector easily
Now, without removing the film from the new touch screen, connect it to this connector to test its performance. Soldering the battery wire, turn the tablet on and check how the sensor sensor responds to touch.
Check how the sensor responds to touch
If everything is fine, please unsolder the battery and disconnect the sensor flat cable.
We are not going to take anything else apart but just “pluck” the touchscreen from the front side. To do that, use the same plastic card to pry off the sensor and slip it off.
Note: Everything will go much easier and simpler if the sensor around the perimeter is warmed with a hair dryer.
Warning! Be careful not to cut yourself, it is glass after all!
Removing the touchscreen is not as difficult as it seems at first glance.
After removing the sensor, with a soft brush remove debris from the display and clean the perimeter from adhesive residue, if any is left.
Warning! If the display is very dirty, do not rub it with something, it will not achieve anything, but only scratch. The best way for me to clean the display is the usual scotch tape! We just stick and remove it consistently across the display and all the dirt will stay on the adhesive tape, not on the display. This can be seen in more detail in the article Replacing the sensor on the phone.
Take the new sensor, remove the film and the paper from the tape. Pull the cable through the slot in the tablet body and carefully attach the new sensor to the display. If the corners are aligned and everything is straight, then gently tap the touchscreen to glue it on.
Note: Do not apply too much pressure to the sensor to be cracked. It is so well glued.
Connect the new touch screen flat cable, solder the battery, replace the speakers and put the back cover.
Replacing the touchscreen on your tablet with your own hands
There is nothing complicated about replacing the touch screen with your own hands.
Turn the tablet on and enjoy the work done.
P.S. Time flies fast. Very quickly this year I have changed the touchscreen on this tablet again I have a lot of experience
Also changed the sensor neighbors, friends and just acquaintances.
So, you should not be afraid of this procedure and feeling confident in your hands, feet, head and, in short, everywhere. you can safely take up this work
Some stubs can disconnect like this
Here is a test of the new sensor on a 7 inch tablet. Cable is very short, so it has to be very carefully
Here is another victim of sloppy handling. They haven’t even removed the film from the store yet but they’ve already ruined the touchscreen
Is it worth to change the screen yourself
This option is quite possible. especially if we have certain skills. This will help us save a lot of money, because we can order all the spare parts ourselves, and we will not have to pay for the work done.
Today you can also find complete kits online, which include components and auxiliary tools/adapters for repair. Let us add that instead of several days replacement of the device screen in capable hands will take 1.5-2 hours.
The disadvantage of this method is that an inexperienced technician risks causing even more damage to your smartphone.
So, if we are not a specialist in repairing touch mobile devices (and even more so if we have never done this before), it is best to contact a specialist.
If we’re sure we’re going to make it work, however, it’s recommended that we look up a visual guide to replacing the screen on our model of device beforehand.
Recall: when repairing on our own, we risk not only causing more damage, but also permanently disable the smartphone in case of failure.

How to replace the touchscreen?
If the touchpad works poorly or refuses to accept presses. it should be replaced. Fortunately, smartphones can be disassembled by yourself. It is not necessary to change the device or its screen to fix the touchscreen, it is enough to separate it and change it for a new one. Fully engage in the replacement of the service and repair centers for technology. They can fix your smartphone for an extra charge without any problems. Usually the procedure takes a couple of hours for the wizard and a couple of days for the client. Price varies depending on the type of device and complexity of the job (5 to 350 per service).
Now the principle of screens without a layer, or “sandwich” case has become popular. In this case, the touchscreen, display and glass are glued together, completely glued to each other with a transparent sealant over the entire plane.
The so-called “lamination technology” is done for several reasons.
- First, such a screen does not have a layer and looks much better.
- Secondly, it takes less space and makes the smartphone thinner and more comfortable.
If your smartphone has such a screen, it is impossible to replace only one part. In this case, you will have to change everything at once. This is usually the most expensive part in the device and is installed only in premium smartphones of famous brands. To check this is simple. the glued screen has no air layer inside and looks very thin, and when you press it there is no jelly effect.
Manual on replacing the touchscreen on the Chinese tablet
Hello all. Your attention is not really a review, but rather a manual for those who either walk around with cracks on the screen (in recent years I see more and more such), or immediately run to the service center and overpay there at three times the price. Reference to the store I give purely symbolic, because the percentage of owners of such a tablet Vido N70 3G negligibly small, and who needs a screen to it. even less. For more details, please go under the cat.
In fact, the “careful” treatment of the child with the cell phone, the output was this and the words “it was not me, it did so by itself
Т.к. Having read the reviews that not all models of screens are suitable for certain models of the tablet (and there are cases where even the left screens are sent), I decided to write directly to each seller, with a demand to pick up the correct screen, otherwise there will be a refund. The were around 20 and only one vendor was showing a suspicious 6.99. Some sellers didn’t answer at all and went straight to the woods. One seller to my photos responded “Please confirm disassemble the machine” and then to all my questions answered “Black spot, have inventory, need to be directly to place an order” some fool. I stopped writing him and he sent me the same phrase a couple of times. Chinese fat troll)) The Chinese guy with the lowest price immediately asked to disassemble and take a picture of the board and code. To do this, you have to pry the back cover off and unhook the latches one by one. The screen was an Instock and I could buy it at this suspicious price. Having honestly warned my brother that if something happened he would never get my hard-earned money! The package arrived in two weeks, the screen in a bubble wrap, bubble wrap in a Styrofoam box. In fact, I decided not to put the replacement in a drawer and started to warm the screen. The screen is attached to the usual double-sided adhesive tape, and judging by YouTube. it’s all so. This glue comes off much easier if you heat it up. There are two ways. a hair dryer or something warm on top. The hair dryer takes a long time and is not as uniform. Somewhere in the internet I read that it is convenient to heat water in a pot to 70 degrees and put it on top of the tablet through the gauze. It’s done. After 30 seconds of heating, lift the edge and touch. Then gently lift the glass. It must be done very carefully.к. You can cut yourself, a shard can pop out in the face or scratch the screen (I just in case sat in transparent bicycle glasses) In 5 minutes we get this then clean the screen of glass crumbs and clean the glue residues. When it is ready, we take the new touch screen and firstly test it for functionality by plugging it in and turning it on. Everything seems to work, so we can glue. We remove the film and adhesive tape Connect the flat cable and carefully and evenly glue the touchscreen in its place. This is much easier than attaching a screen protector. As a result, with 20 minutes of work, sent 7 and confidence in tomorrow. at the output we get a working tablet, which has been repeatedly mentally buried in the backyard
I have never worked in a service center and have not changed screens before, so do not kick me if I missed any nuances. Described step by step how I did and shared the result of the work. Thank you for your attention, ask questions and give me your thumbs up. I will be very glad if my experience will be useful to someone. Good luck!
We connect the display module to the phone, make sure it works and glue the module into the phone frame.
Just do not forget to return in place the dust cover front camera and the grid of the speaker.
Around the perimeter of the frame apply glue in my case B7000.
And reassemble the smartphone. For gluing the module with the matrix as a clamp using office elastic bands, when using the clips on the amo-lead displays, of which this display is, there have been cases of failure due to excessive pressure.
З.Ы. т.к. review still on the glass, here’s a photo demonstrating the quality of the oleophobic coating. Glasses used in the review is recommended. I’ve had many different quality glasses pass through my hands, these glasses are by far the best. Let’s see how careful you are, there is a discrepancy in the review:)
