Ways to adjust the brightness

Samsung smartphones / tablets use two methods for adjusting brightness:

Auto. in this mode, the device itself adjusts the brightness depending on the lighting. The lighter around, the brighter the display. Automatic adjustment only works on devices that have a light sensor.

To find out if your device has a light sensor, contact support.

Manual. The screen brightness will have to be adjusted independently. This method works on all devices.

Before setting, check which version of Android is installed on your device.

Auto brightness setting

Unlock the screen and swipe from top to bottom.

How to Adjust Brightness on Samsung TV

Click the arrow next to the brightness slider.

Turn on the “Auto brightness”.

Click Finish. Now the device will independently adjust the brightness depending on the lighting.

If the device is Android 8, 7

Unlock the screen and swipe from top to bottom.

A panel with icons will appear. Swipe down again.

The panel expands fully. Click the arrow next to the brightness slider.

Turn on the “Auto brightness”.

Done, now the device will independently adjust the brightness depending on the lighting.

If the device is Android 6, 5, 4

Unlock the screen and swipe from top to bottom. A panel will appear with icons and brightness settings.

Check “Auto”.

Done, now the device will independently adjust the brightness depending on the lighting.

Manual brightness setting

Unlock the screen and swipe from top to bottom.

The panel expands fully. Set the desired brightness value. If you use automatic tuning, disable it.

If the device is Android 8, 7

Unlock the screen and swipe from top to bottom.

A panel with icons will appear. Swipe down again.

The panel expands fully. Set the desired brightness value. If you use automatic tuning, disable it.

If the device is Android 6, 5, 4

Unlock the screen and swipe from top to bottom. A panel will appear with icons and brightness settings.

If you use automatic tuning, disable it (uncheck).

Set the desired brightness value.

On Android above version 5, if the battery charge is less than 5%, the minimum brightness is set and it cannot be changed. This is to make the device work longer.
