How Samsung S10 Is Different From S10

Galaxy S10 and S10 use a system of three main cameras with optical stabilization, which at the same time differ in characteristics and purpose. The main module received a wide-angle 12-megapixel sensor with an f / 1.5 aperture, the additional one has the same resolution, but an f / 2.4 aperture and a telephoto lens. Together they can be used to create portrait shots with a blurred background. But the third camera in the Galaxy S10 and S10 is a 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle (123 degrees) with a fixed focus and aperture of f / 2.2.
The Galaxy S10e is slightly inferior to the older models in terms of photo shooting capabilities, since the smartphone lacks a telephoto camera. However, the device received exactly the same main and ultra-wide-angle module, so the quality of the images is in no way inferior to more expensive models. Although, of course, a telephoto camera sometimes comes in handy, but not for everyone, its absence will be a minus.
All three models also use an intelligent shooting mode that works on the basis of machine learning and is able to recognize objects in 30 shooting conditions. It turns out such a more advanced automatic mode.
As you can see from the characteristics of the wide-angle and telephoto cameras, they are the same as in the S9 and Note9, and Samsung does not specify whether the matrix size has changed (in previous models it was 1 / 2.55 “in the wide-angle and 1 / 3.4” in the telephoto camera). Apparently, as in the transition from Galaxy S7 to S8, in the “tenth” series, the company only revised the main camera modules. All new to the Galaxy S lineup is the 16MP 123-degree ultra-wide-angle camera that the S10 and S10 have.
I was able to take some pictures after the presentation on the Galaxy S10 prototype. This allows you to get a preliminary idea of the quality of shooting in all three new Samsung smartphones, since they use the same camera modules, with the exception of telephoto, which is not in the S10e.
Galaxy S10, S10 and S10e, despite slightly different positioning, are built on the same platform, which is based on the Exynos 9820 processor (in the US. Snapdragon 855). Samsung’s new chip is built on an 8 nanometer process technology and uses a three-cluster architecture. The chip employs two high-performance M4 cores to perform resource-intensive tasks, which are 20% faster than last year’s M3 cores. But if the task does not require maximum performance, then two ARM Cortex A75 cores with balanced power consumption are included. And for basic tasks, there are four energy-efficient computing cores ARM Cortex A55.
In terms of graphics, for its processing, the new GPU Mali-G76 MP12, which includes 12 cores and provides a performance increase of 40% compared with last year’s Mali-G72 graphics solution. At the same time, despite the fact that the new chip has fewer cores (12 versus 18), they include 2 times more computing units, which provides an increase in performance.

The S10 and S10e have 128GB of internal storage, while the Galaxy S10 has a 512GB option and a 1TB version in select countries.
Wireless modules in all three models include the new Wi-Fi 6 standard, as well as Bluetooth 5.0, NFC and ANT. Positioning is carried out by supporting the global satellite systems GPS, Galileo, Beidou and GLONASS.
All models work on the basis of the Android 9.0 operating system with the proprietary Samsung One UI, which we recently talked about in a separate article.
New Samsung smartphones receive support for faster wireless charging, the company claims that it is 36% faster than the previous one.
In addition, the devices now have the ability to wirelessly recharge other devices. To do this, you need to activate the appropriate mode in the settings (you can directly from the notification curtain) and attach the device to the back of the case.
Galaxy S10 is the largest smartphone in the lineup, with a display diagonal of 6.4 inches. The flagship uses a new Dynamic AMOLED matrix with a resolution of 3040 × 1440 pixels (438 ppi) and HDR10 support.
The picture on the screen is very colorful, and the viewing angles are maximum. The cutout for the front camera does not subjectively affect the image quality, even the backlight seems to be quite uniform.
At the same time, apparently, getting used to the small “island” of the front camera on the display will be easier than to the notch, since the latter is more striking.
The Galaxy S10 uses the exact same screen with the same resolution, but the diagonal is smaller. 6.1 inches. And thanks to thinner bezels, the model is smaller than last year’s Galaxy S9, while maintaining the same screen sizes.
The Galaxy S10e has the smallest of the three models, at 5.8 inches. The maximum resolution is also lower. 2280 × 1080 pixels, but the quality of the Dynamic AMOLED matrix is at the level of older versions. And given that the latter also use a resolution of 2280 × 1080 pixels by default, the main difference in displays between devices lies precisely in the diagonal.
Features and specifications
While the A80 has the Snapdragon 730 chipset, which is a remarkable mid-range processor, the S10 boasts either the Snapdragon 855 or Exynos 9820 (depending on the region), both of which are cutting edge solutions. Both phones have 8GB of RAM and both run Android 9, both use the Samsung One UI.
In fact, the conclusions are not so obvious. On the one hand, we have a much better camera in the A80, and even a larger screen without “holes” and “bangs”. On the other hand, the S10 hardware is much more productive. In addition, the A80 is much “thicker” than its brother, which not everyone will like. So is the floating camera. It looks interesting, but not everyone will like it.

Over, the more modules that form the camera, the more attractive the device looks, and it does not matter whether customers will use these modules in reality. The main thing is that they exist, and it is the tenth thing to apply them in practice or not. In the light of such reasoning, the idea of the need to increase the resolution of cameras no longer looks so hopeless. Korean engineers seized on this.
Samsung Galaxy A80 vs Galaxy S10: what’s the difference between the latest flagships?
Recently, Samsung launched the Galaxy S10 line of flagship smartphones. Somewhere in the future, there is also a new device under the Note brand. However, the South Korean company is already promoting another flagship, the Galaxy A80. How is this smartphone different from the recent S10? How unique is it? Should I take a closer look at it and think about buying it or is it just another unremarkable smartphone? Let’s figure it out.
It hasn’t been long since Samsung launched the Galaxy S10, but the Galaxy A80 also has a ton of cutting edge features.
While the Samsung Galaxy S10 comes with a 3400mAh battery, you get a 3700mAh battery in the Galaxy A80. This is quite a bit more, but it’s still nice to get a couple of tens of minutes of battery life. At the same time, the Galaxy S10 supports wireless charging (with the function of charging other devices), while the A80 only supports fast charging over the wire.
The Samsung Galaxy A80’s camera is probably the most interesting feature on this device. The phone has a triple-lens camera on the back that can be pulled out of the body and rotated when you want to take a selfie. This should allow the smartphone to take selfies of unprecedented high quality.
The triple camera has 48 megapixel lenses, an 8 megapixel ultrawide and a telephoto lens to add depth to your photos. The autofocus and zoom functions are also quite good. The Galaxy S10 camera is less advanced: the first lens has a resolution of 12 megapixels, 12 megapixels for the telephoto lens and an ultra-wide lens of 16 megapixels.
Case and display
The 6.7-inch screen on the Samsung Galaxy A80 is significantly larger than the 6.1-inch display on the Galaxy S10, and this size “accommodates” even more usable work space thanks to the absence of a “hole” for the front camera. Both phones use Super AMOLED technology for color reproduction, but despite the smaller screen size, the Samsung Galaxy S10 has a better screen resolution. 1440 x 3040 versus 1080 x 2400 for the Galaxy A80.
As for the case, the Galaxy A80 is noticeably thicker. The Galaxy A80 measures 165.2 x 76.5 x 9.3mm, while the Galaxy S10 measures 149.9 x 70.4 x 7.8mm. The case materials for each of the flagships are, as they say, “premium”. So there is a difference in tactile sensations, which everyone will have their own. It is worth mentioning only that the moment that the A80 is more “square”, that is, without rounded corners, which makes it more “grippy”.

Samsung has finally held the long-awaited event, during which it presented its flagship smartphones Galaxy S10 2019. However, the range of flagships this year turned out to be wider than usual. There is the basis of the line. The S10 model, a more advanced model. S10 and, on the contrary, a SIMplified version of the flagship. S10e.

Thus, when choosing the S10e, you will get a slightly smaller display with larger bezels, a lower resolution and, as a result, a lower pixel density (in practice, you will not notice the difference between 550 and 438 PPI). But what you should definitely pay attention to is the usual flat display in the S10e instead of the branded rounding on the side edges in the S10.
Perhaps the two most important differences are the cameras and the fingerprint scanner. In particular, the S10e and S10 have the same main and wide-angle camera modules. However, the third module with a telephoto lens is present only in the S10. It is he who is responsible for the high-quality blurring of the background and double optical magnification. Based on the slight difference in the version index, the same number of cores and the minimal difference in clock speeds, one would assume that the two processors are very SIMilar. However, in fact, the difference between them is quite serious (see the rating of processors for smartphones).

All models are equipped with a new generation screen. Dynamic AMOLED, which replaced the legendary Super AMOLED matrices from Samsung. All 3 models use an identical 10MP camera module with Dual Pixel autofocus (instant focus). And the older model, the S10 Plus, is equipped with an additional 8 megapixel depth sensor for portraits. Cameras. As if new, but as if not
Let’s move on to the tastiest. Here, on the one hand, a 64 megapixel camera appeared, which is responsible for zoom. The latter, however, is threefold and at the same time hybrid, since the approximation works by cropping a 64-megapixel frame to 12 megapixels.
Galaxy S20 Ultra
The main camera is represented by the same 12 megapixels. Well, how the same? The Matrix is finally updated (for the first time in four years!). Now its size has grown to 1 / 1.76 inch. Previously, it was with a nail. 1 / 2.55 inches, and this is no longer in any gate. We still live in 2020! However, there is also a downgrade. For example, the Galaxy S10 had a variable aperture: the petals opened up to f / 1.5, then narrowed down to f / 2.4. The automation adjusted the lens to the ambient lighting and other nuances. The Galaxy S20 has a constant aperture lens that is far from the lightest on the market. Just f / 1.8.
Is all this worth our worries? I don’t think so. I’m sure Samsung has improved the quality of the shooting. Another question is how strong. The Galaxy S20 Ultra, for example, is very serious. There is a huge 108 megapixel module, plus aLGorithms, plus 10x hybrid zoom, and that’s all. Against this background, the usual S20 looks faded. Well. But it’s cheaper. And more compact.

Iron is definitely the most powerful
The engine compartment is occupied by an Exynos 990 or Snapdragon 865 processor in the US and several other countries. As always, all other things being equal, you need to choose a “dragon”. It’s like taking a “German” on diesel or gasoline. The answer is obvious.
There is not much to tell about the new chipset (both Exynos and Snapdragon). These are SIMply the most powerful “stones” for Android smartphones to date. Perhaps they are even faster than the Apple A13 Bionic in the iPhone 11. However, here it is worth waiting for the first tests, although this is essentially stupid. All these flagships are fierce.
Be that as it may, the new subsystem on a chip includes two interesting nodes. The first is the world’s fastest LPDDR5 RAM. The second smartphone (we take the entire Galaxy S20 line for one) in the world with the same type of memory is Xiaomi Mi 10. Together with a brutal processor and a permanent UFS 3.0 flash drive, it is like something. I’m already looking forward to how the new “galaxy” breaks the benchmarks. However, new processors are not suitable for anything else. There is nowhere to use so much foolishness.
The second is a 5123 (X55 in Snapdragon 865) modem with 5G support. As far as it became known, exactly the same models are supplied to Russia as, for example, to South Korea. The only difference is that 5G is blocked in our devices, because none of the operators has yet massively hurried up. There is a chance Samsung will unlock support at the launch of the fifth generation networks. Or maybe not. After all, marketing and sales of the then already updated models have not been canceled.
Design. Solid waste
In the new S20 and S20, the cameras are not lined up in the middle, as it was before, but in the form of a rectangular burner in the upper left corner. Perhaps this would be an original decision if Huawei, which is about to announce its flagships P40 and P40 Pro in exactly the same “unique” design.
And now it will become much more difficult to understand to others that you have a flagship in your hands, and not some A51 for 20 thousand. We’ll have to stand out in color. Of course, red. It is the most top-end. Even for straight boys. On the other hand, has there ever been a situation where the average character on the street knows what another Korean flagship looks like?
