Find Ipad Via Icloud

How to disable Find My iPhone on Windows and Mac OS X computers, tablets or smartphones (including Android)

Find My iPhone isn’t just a security feature and iOS app of the same name, it’s also a web app on iCloud.com.

In addition to the device itself, you can control the function and its individual capabilities (loss mode, sound playback, erasing the device) via the Internet on the official iCloud website.

4 Ways to Disable Find iPhone and Activation Lock on iPhone, iPad and Windows or Mac OS X Computer

Find Ipad Via Icloud

Suppose that your iPhone is out of order: it does not turn on and does not respond to button presses or connection to a computer. The service center employee refuses to take the device for repair, explaining the refusal by the fact that the “Find iPhone” function is enabled in the device, which must first be disabled. How to do it if your iPhone won’t turn on and you can’t access its settings?

Today we’ll talk about why you need to disable the “Find iPhone” function and how you can do this.

Of course, “Find iPhone” is a great feature that allows you to remotely control a lost or stolen iOS device, block it, send a text message and play sound, and erase personal data so that it does not fall into the hands of intruders. Activation Lock is a powerful tool that will prevent you from activating your device after a restore or firmware update until you enter your native Apple ID and password.

On the one hand, both of these mechanisms are designed to protect the owners of iOS devices from theft and unauthorized use of personal data, on the other hand, there are cases when the rightful owners get stumped due to the work of these functions, I described one of these in the announcement.

Indeed, when you contact the service center with a complaint about a broken iPhone, the center employee will ask you to disable the Find iPhone function, so that after recovery, which is required in 99 cases out of 100, the activation lock does not turn the device into a “brick”.

When to turn off Find My iPhone

Without disabling Find iPhone, you will not be able to:

    Restore the device in iTunes (the program will display a warning that this function must be disabled before restoring);

Delete data from the device (Erase content and settings);

Restore data from a backup to iTunes;

  • In case of a breakdown of the device, before contacting the service center.
  • Tip: Never turn off Find My iPhone except as described above.

    There are several ways (more precisely 4) how to disable the “Find iPhone” function, you can do this on iPhone and iPad (3 ways), on a Windows computer and Mac OS X, from any tablet and smartphone (including Android on board).

    In order to disable “Find iPhone” on an iPhone, it is necessary that the device from which the function is disabled be connected to the Internet.

    How to set up Find My iPhone to track with iCloud

    The Find iPhone feature is extremely useful, and when you first activate a new device from Apple, the operating system itself offers to enable it. It can come in handy not only if a phone, tablet, player or other device from Apple has been stolen. If desired, through it, you can track the location of the device, which is useful for parents who want to know where their child is. Also, the Find iPhone feature will help you find a lost device that could have fallen out of your pocket and is still intact. There are many other scenarios when you may need to track the location of an iPhone or iPad.

    If you didn’t activate Find My iPhone when you first set up, you can do it at any time. To enable it:

    Launch the “Settings” application on your device;

  • Next, go to the “iCloud” item and select “Find iPhone” (or iPad, iPod) in the list of settings. Activate this function;
  • Important: You can also enable the “Last location” function, when activated, each time the battery is discharged, the device will send information about its location at the given time to Apple servers.

    After that, in the settings, go to “Privacy” and select “Geolocation Services”. Make sure they are on;

  • Scroll down the list of geolocation functions to the “System Services” option and select it;
  • Here you need to enable the “Find iPhone” setting (or iPad, iPod).
  • After completing the steps above, Find My iPhone will become active on the device and can be tracked via iCloud.

    Please note: If you have multiple Apple devices linked to the same iCloud account, you need to set up Find My iPhone for each of them separately.

    How to find iPhone or iPad from computer via iCloud

    Apple devices are distinguished by their high price, which is justified by their quality, both from a technical and software point of view. This makes them attractive to attackers who can steal an iPhone, iPad, or other iOS or macOS device in order to sell them. Apple is well aware of this, and it is constantly improving the security of its devices, introducing new features to protect them from criminals.

    Modern iPhones and iPads have a built-in fingerprint reader that allows their owners to easily unlock the device, without having to enter a password regularly, but with increased security. Also introduced in iOS 5 in 2010 was Find My iPhone, which allows iCloud users to track where the devices connected to their account are. How to configure the operation of this function and how to find an iPhone from a computer using iCloud will be discussed in this article.

    How to find iPhone or iPad from computer via iCloud

    If you need to find an iPhone or iPad, you can do this through any device with access to the Internet. On another iPhone or iPad, you can download a special application from the AppStore called Find My iPhone. This is not necessary, as you can also find your lost gadget through the iCloud website.

    It is important that the following conditions are met:

    • Find My iPhone must be enabled;
    • The device must be connected to the Internet;
    • The battery of the device must not be discharged. If it is discharged, and the function of sending the last location is enabled in the settings, you can find out the place where the device was at the last moment.

    To find an iPhone or iPad from a computer via iCloud, you need to do the following:

    Go to iCloud.com;

  • Enter your Apple ID and password from it, and then click on the login confirmation;
  • Erase iPhone (iPad). This option allows you to erase all data from the device.
  • Important: If the lost device is turned off or disconnected from the Internet, you can still use any of the above features. The command will be saved on the iCloud servers, and it will be executed when the lost gadget is connected to the network.

    The main tool for finding a device through the Find iPhone function is the map. It displays the exact location of the lost device. The location is determined quite well, but the problem may arise if the device is in the possession of an intruder in a multi-storey building, since it will not be possible to accurately determine the floor where the iPhone or iPad is located.

    What to do if Find My iPhone isn’t set up

    Not all users think about the security of their device and the safety of their personal data as long as their smartphone or tablet is not in the hands of intruders. If the Find My iPhone function was not enabled, but the device is missing, it will not be possible to locate its location or lock the device remotely. In such a situation, it is recommended to do the following:

    Change your iCloud password, which you can do on the Apple website;

  • Change passwords for important accounts that were associated with the lost device. These can be passwords from online banks, social networks, various services and much more.
  • Inform the cellular operator whose SIM card was installed in the device about the fact of loss;
  • Report theft to the police.
  • There are practically no chances to return the device if the Find iPhone function is disabled, and the most important thing in this situation is to maximally secure your personal data from their use by hackers.

    Find your lost device

    Losing an expensive iPhone is always stressful, even more so if it contains some important information. But having a global cloud at hand, constantly using it, even the loss of a device is not perceived as the end of the world.

    Determining the location of the iPhone

    Whether you left it in the library or at home in the kitchen, you can log into your iCloud.com account from your computer and instantly see where your iPhone is on a map. If the device is really lost, you can lock it remotely (after all, you can restore data from the cloud storage) or display a message on the screen asking the finder to urgently contact you.

    The best games for children under 4 years old for iPhone and iPad. Family access to all data

    Icloud allows you to create a family group to access all information on all devices. This group can include up to 6 people, you do not need to create a new even account in the service for this. You can use it with the one that was created in the service earlier.

    Icloud account

    So we got to the most important and at the same time the most simple. How do you create an account, sign in and start using iCloud? In order to access the web interface from a computer, you just need to enter your Apple ID information on the iCloud website and in a few seconds you will be inside.

    The main settings and changes are made directly on the phone, so, according to the attached images, you can choose by points what exactly needs to be synchronized, whether to enable “Keychain” and “” with “Documents”, whether to track the phone through “Find iPhone”. Backing up to iCloud and “Deleting an Account” is also set up right there.

    Overview of iCloud Settings on iPhone

    A separate word about iCloud mail, here, in the settings, you can create a new mailbox and use it in a couple of minutes. You do not need to enter it separately, it is enough that you are authorized in iCloud. All additional settings are performed here.

    Restoring from a backup. How it works?

    After registering with the service, the owner of the gadgets gets 5 GB of free space in the cloud storage for free. The volume of your cloud can always be changed by paying for additional space. Using it, he stores there backups of all important data on his devices.

    Now you no longer need to run iTunes over and over again to restore an iPhone from a backup, as everything becomes much easier. At the moment the iPhone charging is connected and Wi-Fi is on, it creates a backup copy of all data absolutely automatically. The record stores:

    • General device settings (their copy is always stored in the cloud);
    • Individual arrangement of icons on the screen;
    • All messages (iMessage, SMS), you can recover lost messages at any time;
    • Purchased music, books, TV spots;
    • Arrays of photos taken with the device’s camera (with this service, you can go to the cloud at any time and restore everything that is important to the user from the copy);

    Cleaning from iPhone or iPad

    If there is not enough free space and none of the synchronization settings, parameters and other tools you made helped with adding free space, then you will have to follow a different path. Clear iCloud storage. And there are many options:

    Delete backups

    iCloud stores important Apple ID account information, especially even those that appeared in the cloud a few years ago. And therefore, if another, now unused technique was previously tied to an Apple ID account, then some old backup copy necessarily remained in the storage;

    This guess is definitely worth checking by looking in the “iCloud Storage” section, and then going down to the “Backups” item;

  • You need to select the copy that you don’t need for a long time, and then click “Delete”. The main thing here is not to confuse anything.
  • Why and what is filling up iCloud storage

    The main space of the free iCloud cloud storage limit is consumed by operating system backups, which are automatically created and then updated several times a week, bringing the data to the most current form. If there is not enough space due to backups in the cloud, and there is an urgent need to keep only documents or messages there, then the function “save backups can be turned off in” Settings “.

    But it is better to shift the responsibility of saving data to a computer using a similar function in iTunes.
    Photos are in second place in terms of iCloud storage waste. Again, the function of syncing images ands is also turned off in the settings, in a few seconds.

    At the end of the list, as a rule, documents are weaved (completely different. Boarding passes in PDF format, recorded in third-party programs, books from the iBook or notes spiced with photos, Pages pages or Numbers tables) and messages transmitted via iMessage.

    The example described above of how free space is spent depends on which synchronization parameters are set, and therefore, even before dealing with the lack of space, it is worth delving into the options offered:

      Open “Settings”, select the first item in the list (speech, about the latest iOS versions) thematically related to iCloud, iTunes Store and Apple ID account;

    In the section that appears, select iCloud;

    Then it remains to place a checkmark in front of those programs and data that need to be transferred to iCloud;

    The “Manage storage” button is also available right there, where the developers allow you to see exactly which data take up more free space, and start taking active steps to remove the excess.

    Download iCloud to PC

    The second option to look beyond the veil of cloud storage secrets is to download a special tool that exactly repeats all the settings from the iPhone, iPad or iPod menu. The utility is available at the link (suitable for both Windows and MacOS). Installation takes a few minutes, and for authorization again you need a username and password.

    Of the minuses. It is impossible to work with photos, as on the site through a browser (accordingly, and you cannot free up space). On the plus side, you can work with other applications, delete the accumulated cache, free up space by clearing all messengers and messages. In addition, it is here that extra space is bought if nothing happened from a smartphone or tablet.

    Go through all the storage items

    Are your messages taking up too much free space? You can delete linked data! Is your iBook full of unnecessary books? And there are no problems here, the main thing is to get into the settings and choose a way to clear the data.

    Work with data on the official website

    The developers of the service allow you to enter iCloud directly from the browser. Just fill in two text fields for authorization (Apple ID login and password) and all the information added to the cloud storage will appear on the screen. From here they are also allowed to work with the settings (but with some), look into documents and mail, and at the same time wash the bones with all contacts.

    If you want to immediately get down to business. Freeing up free space, then you should immediately look into the “” section. It is here that you can view all the images, remove duplicates, find failed panoramas and other creative works that have not won fame. A few hours of sorting and iCloud will definitely become more free.
