Do Airpods work with Xiaomi

Airpods on Android: how to connect, does everything work like in iOS and how to check the charge

Who said the comfortable and popular Airpods wireless headset can only be used with iPhones? Owners of gadgets with Android will find it useful to learn about the capabilities of their device with Airpods. It’s easy to connect a headset, although it’s even easier on iOS. After turning on and pairing the device, the user will have at his disposal the same famous wireless headphones.

airpods, work, xiaomi

Before you start using it, make sure that the charging case for the Airpods and they themselves are sufficiently charged. The headset should fit inside the box and Bluetooth on the Android device.

How to check the charge of Airpods on Android

After installation, open the charging case cover of the connected Airpods.

Checking the charge on Android with the “AirBattery” application installed works in much the same way as on iOS gadgets. You just need to open the lid of the charging case, and the application will display information about the current charge of the Airpods. The application also has a Pro version that allows you to receive an iOS-style pop-up notification without having to launch the application itself.

Troubleshoot Airpods with Android

If you’re having trouble pairing your Airpods with Android, it’s best to start by resetting your headset by pressing the button on the back of the case. You can also try rebooting your Android device.

As additional troubleshooting steps, you should make sure Bluetooth is turned on on Android, there is sufficient charge on Airpods and the branded charging case.

How to connect Airpods to Android

Place Airpods inside the case if you haven’t already.

On your Android device, open Settings.

Select Bluetooth.

Open the lid of the Airpods case.

Press and hold the button on the back of the box until the indicator blinks white.

Go back to your Android device and wait for the Airpods to appear in the list of Bluetooth devices. After that press the “Pairing” button.

Close “Settings” on Android. Airpods will pair and connect to the new device.

You can check the performance of such a bundle by listening to music, podcasts or any sound from an Android device. Sounds should go into and out of the Airpods as expected. As long as the headset is connected and paired with an Android phone or tablet, Airpods will become a wireless audio device used by the operating system to output audio.

On the Airpods side, working with Android devices is not fundamentally different from working with a Windows computer. Don’t be surprised, but this is also possible. Yes, and Mac Airpods are perfectly connected, which is generally logical. Pairing with a macOS device is easier if the headphones are already connected to an iPhone with the same Apple ID. You just need to open the settings of Bluetooth devices and manually start the pairing process with the headphones. The accessory behaves simply and clearly, like any other Bluetooth-device or wireless speaker.

Note that when using Airpods alternately with iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Android, it is best to disconnect the headset from the current device, but not uninstall it. Only then can you connect Airpods to the new platform. If you accidentally delete some of the Apple device settings in the Bluetooth settings, you can always re-configure both iOS with Android and macOS.

Some Airpods features don’t work with Android

If you plan to use Airpods with Android, then you need to be aware of the unavailability of some proprietary Airpods for Android. For example, Siri functionality will not work in conjunction with a headset device on Android, simply because this operating system does not have a voice assistant from Apple at all. A feature such as auto pause will not work either. This does not mean that the devices do not work well with each other. Even if you don’t get the full benefit of Siri, the experience of using Airpods on Android will still be great.

Cheap Xiaomi Redmi AirDots Wireless (TWS) Headphones. overview

We continue to get acquainted with various interesting headphones. Some time ago I reviewed the true wireless Mpow T5 headphones, which support the aptX codec and cost 3600 rubles. And there, in the comments, I was asked to study the very inexpensive wireless (true wireless) headphones Xiaomi Redmi AirDots, which were released recently and are flying like hot cakes from Aliexpress.

These earbuds don’t have aptX support, but they only cost £ 1,200. well, let’s see what we get for this very modest money.

AptX and AAC codecs are not supported here, but this is quite expected given the price. But, as I already said, the sound of headphones with the SBC codec very much depends on the settings: in certain cases, manufacturers achieve very good sound.

Contents of delivery

Packaging. With Ali, packages often come so shabby, as if a separate team of Chinese zhamkal workers are working there, but this time everything was delivered in almost perfect condition, and I was almost sorry to throw out the packaging immediately after unpacking.

Set: a case with headphones, two additional sets of silicone ear pads (on the headphones themselves, medium size, additionally there are small and large ones), instructions in Chinese.

No wire included. But Xiaomi should not be considered rednecks. Here you just choose which kit to take. The cheapest. without wires, that’s how mine is. If you pay a couple of bucks, then there will be wires, and you can also add a funny colored case for the case. There will be a case in a case, like a matryoshka.

Appearance and features

The case is made of black matte plastic.

Headphones inside sit on magnets, it is impossible to shake them out of there. will not fall out. In one of the reviews I read that the headphones, they say, are very difficult to get out of there, and so. nothing like this. They just need to be taken with the index and thumb (thumb from the side of the groove). and they get it great.

The earbuds are very compact and very lightweight. four grams each.

Please note that the contacts are covered with packing foil. You can clearly see it in the photo, but in reality it is almost invisible, and when I was testing the headphones, at first I could not understand why they were not charging in my case. Then I thought of removing the tape. and it all worked.

Each earbud has an LED on the bottom that glows white when the earbud is in pairing mode and red when it is charging in the case.

Headphone operation

At first, when you take the headphones in your hands, it seems that they will not sit well and fall out. they are too small. However, I have already had similar headphones, and I know that they actually fit very well. They just need to be correctly inserted and placed in the auricle. after that they sit like a glove and do not fall out either while running or while jumping.

Connecting to a smartphone is very simple: when the headphones are taken out of the case, they themselves enter pairing mode. If there is already a device they were connected to, they connect to it. If there is no such device, they are waiting for pairing.

The smartphone is shown as two different devices, while each of the headphones can work completely autonomously.

On the first connection, I was unable to get both earbuds to work at the same time. the sound came only through the right or only through the left earphone, but after I turned them off and on. the sound went through both headphones normally and there were no more such glitches.

When the earbuds are placed in the charging case, they are automatically turned off.

The headphones are controlled by mechanical buttons located at the ends of the device. Left and right headphone button action. completely identical. One click. play / pause or answer a call, double tap. start the voice assistant, press a second. call reset, three-second press. shutdown. There is no volume control, no track switching. Poor functionality with control, let’s face it. Most of the TWS earbuds I had could at least switch tracks.

If nothing is played through the headphones for five minutes, they automatically turn off.

Now about how they sound. And they sound surprisingly decent. I thought they were only good for listening to some kind of audio broadcast. but no, you can listen to music on them too. Of course, one should not expect something really amazing in sound from such headphones, they are still quite inexpensive, but I must say that they have a sound. quite acceptable.

The bass, of course, is present with such half-hints, the mids sag a little, the highs are quite clear, but a little harsh. Quite good detail, well, in general. even better than expected. I came across wireless headphones in which the sound via SBC was really terrible, it was impossible to listen to music. Here. quite possible. It is clear that I mean people who do not warm up cables and do not collect audio collections exclusively from losless tracks, but for the average user, the sound from these headphones will seem quite normal. including for listening to music.

Of course, I put my proprietary Dunu SpinFit ear pads on them (I have a CP100-M model). check how the sound will change, because I have repeatedly come across the fact that, especially on inexpensive models, the difference is very noticeable.

Everything was very interesting here. The bass has sharply improved. appeared, manifested and reproduced at a very good level for gags. The tall ones were slightly smoothed, but it even did them good. the harsh component disappeared. The averages, alas, remained at an insufficient level and remained. But the sound is clearly better. more detailed and richer. So once again I am convinced that a lot really depends on the ear cushions. And once again I realized that it was not in vain that I spent on Dunu SpinFit (I paid as much as € 9 for the set, now I am paying with the loan). By the way, CP100-M. this is an average size, but they fit on absolutely all in-ear headphones. even for those with a driver greater than 7 mm, like these. With difficulty, but fit and showed themselves perfectly. However, at the same time, I note that with Dunu, these headphones do not fit into the charging case. So these ear pads will either have to be cut or removed before placing the headphones in the case, which, of course, is inconvenient.

Working as a headset

In a quiet environment, the headphones worked great as a headset. and I heard the subscriber perfectly, and they heard me well. In a noisy environment, the noise control worked, and there were oddities with it. he pressed noises, but my voice, as the subscribers said, was subject to certain distortions. But it was possible to talk.

Battery life

The manufacturer claims 4 hours of work from the headphone battery and 3 full charges from the case. that is, 14 hours. I didn’t manage to do 4 hours on a single charge, when listening at 80% volume, the headphones lived for about three thirty hours. three hours and forty minutes. Three charges from the case were more or less obtained, but the third charge was somewhere up to 80%.

Headphones from scratch are charged in about an hour and fifteen minutes, the case is charged for two hours.

Observations at work and conclusions

I did not reveal any special problems during the testing period. Occasionally one of the headphones seemed to freeze for a second, but then it turned on again. On walks, I listened to these headphones connected to a smartphone in my shoulder bag. Contact was good, audio interruptions were extremely rare.

When watching videos from Youtube, sometimes there was a slight desynchronization of the image with the sound (the sound was slightly lagging). this is common with this codec on a wireless connection. There would be aptX LL here. this would not have happened.

Controlling the buttons rather than the sensor seemed to me even more convenient. Similar headphones with a sensor are much more likely to show false positives when you just adjust the earpiece and it thinks that you want to stop playback.

Headphones sit deep enough in the channel and isolate external sounds well, but at the same time loud signals will be heard.

And now let’s answer the question, which headphones I liked more: these or QCY QS1 (T1C), which cost about the same? QS1 live longer, are able to flip through tracks, their sound is similar. Which one is better and which one is worse. hard to say, they are like twin brothers. But Redmi AirDots has a case with a lid that slams shut with a nice knock. it may outweigh all other arguments.

P. S. And that’s why in all the reviews these Redmi AirDots are compared with Apple Airpods, although these are headphones from completely different categories. I don’t know. Airpods are designed specifically for iPhones, so compare them to headphones for Android smartphones. it doesn’t make any sense.

Can Airpods Pro be used with Android

Despite the fact that Android does not provide the standard animation that accompanies the connection of Airpods Pro, pairing headphones with a smartphone is as fast as with an iPhone. You just need to flip open the lid of the charging case and press the pairing button on its case. After one and a half to two seconds, a connection will occur and the headphones can be used for their intended purpose.

Switching between the modes of active noise cancellation and “Transparency” also works, but only by pressing the headphones themselves. Unfortunately, you cannot switch between them using a special mechanism in Control Center like on iOS. In addition, on Android you have two options: either noise reduction or “Transparency”, because you cannot turn them off and just enjoy passive noise reduction without impurities. Fortunately, the Airpods Pro have no problem with gestures on Android. With their help, you can switch between tracks, rewind them, pause and answer incoming calls without taking your smartphone out of your.

How Airpods Pro work with Android

Why do people love Apple? First of all, for the mutual compatibility of all branded products. All applications and devices of the company are able to work properly with each other, expanding the capabilities of each other. The result is a completely self-sufficient ecosystem, into which almost no one manages to get into from the outside. And if it succeeds, then you have to overcome a lot of obstacles before something starts to work properly. Airpods Pro is no exception.

Airpods Pro work with Android, but not how users would like it

Every time Apple releases a new accessory, Android users wonder if it will work with smartphones running Google’s operating system. But if everyone has long resigned themselves to the incompatibility of Android and Apple Watch, fans of the “green robot” are often interested in Airpods headphones. After all, Airpods today are more of a sign of good taste and an iconic accessory peeking out of your ears in style than just headphones. Firstly, because they sound so-so, and, secondly, it is still impossible to implement all their capabilities on Android. Even if it’s Airpods Pro.

What Airpods Pro features don’t work on Android

Unfortunately, all other Airpods Pro tricks on Android do not work. Here they are:

  • Siri support;
  • Headphone fit test;
  • Ability to connect two pairs of Airpods Pro to one smartphone;
  • Track the charge level of each earbud and charging case.

It turns out that, although Airpods Pro are compatible with Android, Google’s operating system is unable to provide the functionality of half of the headphone’s functions. But this is also logical. If you look closely at what doesn’t work, it becomes clear that these are all functions directly related to the capabilities of iOS. And since Google is not obliged to optimize its platform for accessories released by competitors, then there is nothing to be surprised at. Therefore, if you want to enjoy all the benefits of Airpods Pro, you are dear to iOS.

    Connecting to Android

    • Make sure the earbuds are in the charging case.
    • Open the headphone case.
    • Click on the round button on the back of the case.

Wait until the indicator between the headphones inside the case starts blinking white and a Bluetooth pair is created.

Go to the Bluetooth menu of your Android phone and select the Airpods to connect. Done!

How to extend the functionality of Airpods with Android

You can expand the functionality of these headphones on Android using special applications. Take the Droidpods app, which offers us a constant notification showing the remaining battery life of the Airpods and telling us when it’s time to charge one or both of the earbuds. This app is publicly available in the Play Store for a purchase for just 2.49.

Or the free AirBattery app, which also lets you track the amount of charge on your earbuds and case. Another plus of this app is that it can also support other W1 wireless headphones.

How to connect Airpods to Xiaomi

When you turn on the headset, you need to go to the “Search for Bluetooth devices” item on the phone and select the connected device for pairing between the devices. Normal activation of Bluetooth will not give a positive result in the connection.

What features will work with Android?

Most of the Airpods’ functionality with an Android will work the same as with an iPhone. For example, the touch sensors on the headphones, which perform many different functions with just two touches. At the same time, without taking the phone out of your. Also, the headphones are equipped with a microphone, which is a huge plus for those who need to be constantly in touch. Especially during the cold season.

What features won’t work with Android?

But it’s still worth noting that when using Airpods with Android, you will not have access to the voice control function, since this requires the Siri voice assistant, which only works on Apple devices.

Also, you will not be able to observe the charging indication and control it without a specially downloaded application. At the moment of removing the headphones, the music will not be paused, as is the case with the iPhone.

    How Xiaomi Wireless Headphones Work

If you take the earpiece out of your ear, the music doesn’t stop like it does with Airpods. The devices are disconnected only in the case, and are connected back to the phone when they are taken out:

    • put only the left one in the case, it will turn off, and the right one will work;
    • remove the right one. both will turn off.

Headphones work with voice assistants Siri, Google Assistant, Alice. The controls are intuitive:

    • 1 touch. pause or answer a call;
    • double. call the voice assistant. The only thing that is inconvenient: when you want to fix the earpiece and inadvertently press the touch panel, the music will stop;
    • hold for one or more seconds. call cancellation;
    • double tap during a call. mute the microphone.

How to connect Bluetooth headphones to your phone

The Xiaomi AirDots feature is the touch panels on the outside of each earphone. They can be used to connect Xiaomi wireless headphones to the phone.

    • Press and hold both earbuds until you see a double purple-red blinking. This is a signal that you have reset the settings.
    • Put them in the charging box for a while, take them out and wait for the devices to “find” each other. As soon as this happens, you will see a pale purple blinking of the right earbud. He is in charge.
    • Go to the Bluetooth settings of your smartphone. Available devices will display the designation “Mi AirDots BASIC_R”. These are your headphones. The phone will connect to the right one, and that will connect to the left.

Sometimes AirDots sync separately. The reason. the left “ear” “loses” the right.

4 things to do if one wireless earbud does not work.

    • Unplug the two earbuds: hold down both touchpads until the red lights turn on.
    • Hold for 30-50 seconds: first, the white indicator will turn on, then, after 10-20 seconds, it will light up red-white. The indicator will blink 2 times.
    • Continue to hold until they flicker a couple of times and go out for a few seconds. Then they flicker a couple more times. this means that the settings have been reset.
    • Now put the “ears” in the case and take out both of them shortly. The left one will look for the right one, synchronizes with it, and you can connect to the phone.

How to use Xiaomi AirDots wireless headphones

If you listen to the “ears” in pairs, they work

4 hours. And if you listen to the tracks alone, then the device’s performance will increase by 1 hour. The Bluetooth headset is connected in the same way. both to the iPhone and to the Android.

    • Hold the touchpad of one earbud.
    • The phone settings will display “Mi AirDots BASIC_R” or “Mi AirDots BASIC_L”. whichever you choose. For example, the left one. While it blinks frequently, it means looking for the right one. After 15 seconds after activation, it will blink less often. from this moment, the earphone is activated as an independent device. It’s ready to pair with your phone.

And yes! The sound of the AirDots babies is what you need. With bass too. But only if you choose the right ear pads that come with the kit. They should fit snugly into the ear canal. A sure sign of “your” size. when “ears” are not felt when worn.

    How to charge wireless headphones

Xiaomi AirDots charges the case, and it itself is powered by micro USB. Not 1.5 hours. as the manufacturer says.

45 minutes. The case is equipped with a 350 mAh battery, it is enough for three recharges.

    • If the diode does not flicker and glows red, the battery is charging.
    • White color indicates 100% battery charge.

Redmi or Xiaomi? How not to be mistaken

It is worth starting with the fact that under the AirDots logo you can find at least 3 variants in 2 colors with different possibilities.

    • white Xiaomi Mi AirDots with touch buttons
    • black Redmi AirDots and Mi True Wireless Earbuds Basic with mechanical buttons

The first ones turned out to be the first for Xiaomi in the niche of fully wireless headphones (TWS). Cheap, simple. To make them more accessible (twice), there was a version with “clinking” mechanical buttons.

The second and third in black are the same, but for different markets: Redmi for export, Xiaomi Mi for their own. Differences only in the box and the inscriptions on it.

Except for minor points, all three are the same headphones. NFC and touchpads don’t always justify their existence. And they certainly don’t justify the two-fold difference in price.

Interestingly differently: Redmi AirDots are the most affordable TWS headphones with the price of a rootless no-name. you can find them on sales for 800 rubles.

“Mi Bend” in my ears number 2

Xiaomi engineers did not reinvent the wheel, and used the housings of the updated version of their old Bluetooth headphones with wiring for the AirDots: Mi Bluetooth Mini.

If someone has not guessed. yes, these are the scaled capsules of the first Mi Band. They clearly lack elegance. On the other hand, what to expect from an ultra-budget gadget?

The body is completely made of plastic. On the inside of each earphone there is a multipolar magnet and a sound guide, on the back there is a control button for the entire cover.

The key travel is small and pleasant. Interestingly, the volume or track controls do not work, so the possibilities are modest even at this stage of the review.

A long press is used to reject a call or switch the sound to the phone / headphones, a short press to answer or end a call, and a double short press to switch between interlocutors and turn on / off the microphone.

IPx4 splash protection is claimed, but it only applies to headphones. Even short-term exposure to jets will lead to breakage.

It’s all about diminutiveness: the requirement for comfort in constant wear has led to the fact that each earphone weighs only 4.1 grams.

Each earbud has its own noise canceling microphone. However, in public transport and on the streets of megalopolises, external sources will break into the conversation and interfere with the interlocutor.

How long does it work without charging?

Inside the case is a pair of magnetic slots for headphones and a 300 mAh battery. Each of the earbuds has another 40 mAh.

This is enough for 3-4 hours at a volume of 40-60%, after which you will have to return the headphones to the carrying case for an hour and a half. Total in total. up to 14-16 hours. A little, because in the cold this figure is reduced by almost 30%.

The case itself is charged for at least 2 hours using a standard microUSB cable and any suitable wire. By the way, there is no cable in the kit.

    Weekend with AirDots

On the other hand, Redmi AirDots are a simple and reliable way to try fully wireless earbuds as a class, and decide: do you really need these?

The lack of touchpads is surprisingly convenient. This allows for better touch control and no phantom clicks, which often happen with any headphone with gesture or touch control.

The controls are clear enough to quickly learn combinations. But with some Android smartphones, they do not work, and the ears themselves lose touch every other time. over, there is no pattern in this.

If they started working right away, then they will continue to work. Otherwise, you can clear the cache, change the firmware, connect them to the source several times. and everything will work. But unpleasant, horror.

The landing is quite deep, which, with the right choice of ear pads, gives good noise isolation. At 70% of the volume, the subway is no longer heard, 50% is enough for a busy street.

Even the mode of use turns out to be quite expected: put in an earpiece. listened, talked, put in another one. Thought, took advantage of the stereo. Easy and convenient, and everything is like clockwork.

    What is inside?

According to the tradition of the genre, Redmi / Xiaomi / 1 engineers did their best and tried to pull the sound of penny headphones to an acceptable level.

They managed to install 7.2-mm drivers instead of the 6-mm ones usual in TWS, and achieve a sensitivity of 93 dB ± 3 dB, which is not so bad for a reproducible frequency range of 20-20,000 Hz.

At least better than noname. The Realtek RTL8763BFR chip promises decent (for headphones without aptX and AAC) sound quality. But the lack of a published frequency response should immediately be suggestive

Why Xiaomi Redmi AirDots are better than Airpods, but you don’t need to buy them 07/17/2019 20:20

The combination of the hype theme and the “Xiaomi” lettering attracts the attention of even those far from gadgets. So the “Airpods killer” was very warmly received by users.

Fully wireless headphones for just a thousand rubles are needed even for those who do not use them at all. Perhaps, after Apple, no one else has made such a contribution to their popularity.

But can the AirDots somehow compete with the Airpods. Or is it just another Chinese thing with a famous logo, meaningless and merciless?

    A few words about sound

Redmi AirDots don’t sound bad. they don’t. After a couple of days you get used to it, and it seems like you don’t need more. But only until you hear normal “ears”.

The entire reproducible range plays without defects, although there is an overestimation of the upper ones. It’s easy to fix with an equalizer. There are not many basses, and bassheads will not like them: clear, dry.

The scene is compressed, the sound is dry and moderately detailed, equalized for the video sequence. So that the voice and the piled-up podcast are as legible as possible.

Otherwise, the younger AirDots sound no worse than the protected sports Xiaomi Mi Bluetooth and other analogues. And better than other TWS at a price of up to 3 thousand rubles.

Simply because, in fact, they are one and the same. Only Redmi has some kind of quality control and decent components.

    Case and all-all-all

The case used for charging and storing the AirDots also fell victim to miniaturization: without them, it weighs only 26 grams, with them. 34 grams.

In total, the set is not only invisible in the hand, it is easy to lose it even in your own.!

Everything is made of plastic again: the outside of the case is matte coated a la soft-touch, the inside is glossy. Both are very easily soiled.

Strictly speaking, the headphones retain even the prints of dry, clean hands. For scratches on matte, a sheet of paper or touching with a third-party hard object is enough.

Simply because, in fact, they are one and the same. Only Redmi has some kind of quality control and decent components.

Work together, separately and with whatever you want

Each earphone from a pair of Redmi AirDots can operate independently. It is interesting that if you connect the left earphone to the sound source, both will be connected, if the right one, you will need to connect the second one separately.

If you pull out the earphone for more than 20 seconds, the second one will not connect. We’ll have to insert both into the charging case and repeat everything.

No sensors: AirDots turn off after 5 minutes of inactivity or when connected to the charging base.

But there are no restrictions on connecting to sources. Although it uses an economical Bluetooth 5.0, AirDots work fine even with older dongles with version 2.0.

It is curious that the new codec made it possible to achieve a direct range of work with source of 30 meters. A pair of AirDots can be separated by 7 meters without breaking the connection.

In the list of supported codecs, which is not surprising at all, there is only SBC, SBC XQ. You can’t even dream of AptX and AAC at this price point.

    Factory reset

The consequence of the fact that one earbud is quieter than the other can be a software glitch, leading to desynchronization between the earbuds. To restore operation to the previous mode, roll back the headset to the factory state:

    • place the earbuds in the case and close the lid. Open it after 30 seconds;
    • go to “Settings”, from there go to the “Bluetooth” tab and remove the headphones from those available for connection;
    • hold down the setting button on the back for 15 seconds until the indicator flashes yellow.

Re-pair. On iPhones and other handheld devices from Apple, simply open the case next to the mobile device. On equipment from other manufacturers, go to the Bluetooth settings and create a pairing manually.

    Clean the speaker grill

During active use, the speaker mesh becomes clogged with dust, small pieces of tissue and earwax, which helps to reduce the maximum sound volume. To clean your Apple Wireless Headphones:

    • moisten the ear stick in an alcohol-containing solution and squeeze it out so that the solution does not get inside the case;
    • wipe the mesh with smooth movements until dirt accumulates along the edges of the recess;
    • remove debris using a toothpick.

Another option to remove dirt is to clean the blockage using a toothbrush.

The reasons for the formation of a mud plug may be hidden in the case. It collects dust from s or bags. It can be easily removed with a dry ear stick. Clogs at the joints are removed with a toothpick. If there are a lot of particles, wipe the case with a cotton pad moistened with alcohol solution, but avoid getting liquid on the charging contacts and the port for the Lightning cable.

    Discharged battery

If the headphones play quieter or turn off spontaneously, the earbud is not charged enough.

    • Place it in the case.
    • Wait 5 minutes.
    • Listen again.

Attention! Poor food intake could have been caused by lack of contact. Check the slot for the liner in the case: it could have accumulated debris.

    Why Airpods play quietly

When one Airpods starts to play quieter than the other, the reason lies in a clogged speaker mesh, a failure in the synchronization of the headphones, or moisture getting inside. Below we will tell you what to do if one of the Airpods earbuds emits a quiet sound.

    Sound setting

The iPhone has a number of settings that can make Bluetooth headphones louder. The first option is to change the balance between the left and right “ear”:

    • go to “Settings”, from there. to “General” and at the end. “Universal access”;
    • below there will be a scale for changing the sound balance between the left and right sound channels.

If the headphones play quietly initially, then your smartphone could be sharpened for the European market, where the volume of the device and the devices connected to it is lowered:

    • from “Settings” go to “Music”, there find “Volume Limit”;
    • turn off Volume Limit (EU) to make 1st and 2nd generation Airpods louder.

The final way to make your headphones louder is to remove the volume limitation on your iPhone. The coveted slider is located along the “Settings”. “Volume Limit” path. In the “Maximum volume” item, move the slider to the right.

Important! Do not perform this operation with headphones connected. High volume can damage your hearing.

If, when trying to restore one “ear” using the above methods, it continues to work in the same format, then the problem lies in mechanical damage or moisture penetration. The only option to return the second liner to service is to contact an official service center for help, where it will be replaced with a new one.

How to pair Apple Airpods 2 with Xiaomi Redmi Note 7

    Lost contact inside the cable

When using wired headphones paired with a Xiaomi phone, the most stressful and breakable place is the wire coming out of the jack. In this place, the cable is constantly bending and therefore the contact inside is broken faster than anything else due to breaking the contacts and therefore the sound disappears.

If you lose sound in one of the headphones when connected to Xiaomi, or if there is a hissing or crackling sound, this is the first sign of a broken contact inside the cable. And it is highly likely that it happened on the fold near the jack.

A similar breakdown will occur after a strong jerk, if you caught the wire on something and did not notice it. Inside the case, the cable is specially fixed so that the jerk does not lead to a violation of the soldering of the contacts to the driver, so breakage inside the headphones is unlikely.

Solution: replace the headphones, or re-solder the cable.

No access to sound effects in Xiaomi settings

Xiaomi phones have a special section with sound settings that are unlocked when wired headsets are connected. If the wire is not connected to the socket of the smartphone, this section is blocked.

Sound effects are not available when connected wirelessly.

If you connected the headset via a wire, the phone detected it and showed the corresponding icon in the status bar, but access to sound effects remained blocked, try restarting the phone. If possible, check on other headphones to rule out the possibility of incompatibility.

If the reboot does not help, unplug the cable, carefully blow out the phone jack, probably dust or a grain of sand has got inside, which interferes with normal contact.

Do not pour alcohol or other liquids inside. If the contamination is heavy, take a dry cotton swab and gently swirl around the socket.

If, after cleaning, you still cannot access the sound settings on the Xiaomi, there is a possibility of a serious software glitch. Provided that the headphones are working properly, the sound goes to both channels, without interruption and without distortion, and with a remote control, all buttons function properly.

If, after a reset, access to sound effects is not possible, you will have to take the phone for diagnostics to a repair shop.

What to do if earphones do not work with Xiaomi phone, or work poorly

Problems with headphones on Xiaomi arise for the following reasons:

    • Broken headphones
    • Poor contact inside the cable
    • Bad contact in the socket
    • Software glitch

I will begin the description of breakdowns with a simple case and move on to complex ones.

One of the headphones does not work when connected to a Xiaomi smartphone

If the sound comes from only one earphone, first of all check whether they will fully function when connected to any other sound source, it can be a computer, phone, TV, player or something else.

If, when connected to another sound source, there is also no sound, then the breakdown has occurred inside.

This can be caused by water ingress, if they are not protected from sweat and splash, strong physical impact or extreme high or low temperatures.

Xiaomi leaves the circle of suspects if the headphones continue to work poorly when connected to another source.

Solution: replacement of headphones, or repair at a service center.

Wireless headphones do not work with a Xiaomi smartphone

Before connecting wireless headphones to Xiaomi, you need to make sure that they support the following profiles:

    • A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile). with its help the phone transmits stereo sound to the receiving device.
    • HSP (Handset Profile). with its help, the possibility of talking on the phone is realized.

There are many other profiles of wireless headsets, but these two are the primary and most important, it is with their help that you can talk on the phone and listen to music.

Find out about profile support from the instructions for the headphones or on the packaging.

A prerequisite for the first connection is the pairing procedure.

Pairing is carried out according to the following aLGorithm:

    • Turn them off, then press the power button and hold it for 8 seconds or until the LED starts flashing in different colors
    • Go to the Bluetooth settings, find there the “Available devices” item, in which the model of the connected headset will appear. Click on it, after which the name will go to the section “Paired devices”.

The status will be indicated next to the name when the active work is “Connected”. In this case, the corresponding icon will appear in the status bar.

Find out more about this on the website: headphone-review.ru

If everything went smoothly, the wireless headphones should be working and producing sound. If it doesn’t, make sure the Xiaomi volume control is set to the middle position or higher.

If all else fails: try connecting another headset to prevent damage to the Xiaomi wireless module. If another headset also turns out to be inoperative, take your smartphone for repair, somewhere a Bluetooth error has crept in.

Not all buttons on the remote work

The remote control on the cable does not always work at full strength, this is due to the existence of two types of contact soldering standards: common and invented by Apple.

Headphones designed to work with Apple gadgets will play music when connected to Android smartphones, but the remote will not work at all, or partially.

This cannot be fixed, inside the cable the contacts are soldered in a different way, this cannot be bypassed by the software method.

Be careful when buying headsets if there is a label on the packaging: Made For iPod, iPhone, iPad. you should know that the remote will not work with Android.

Included with some models, if they have a detachable cable, there are 2 cables, one for connecting to Xiaomi, the other for iPhone. But that rarely happens.
