Could Not Start Service On Local Computer

Error 0x80070005 “Access denied” is most often encountered in three cases. When installing Windows updates, activating the system, and restoring the system. If a similar problem arises in other situations, as a rule, the solutions will be the same, since there is only one cause of the error.

In this instruction, I will describe in detail the methods that work in most cases to fix the access error of system recovery and installing updates with the code 0x80070005. Unfortunately, the recommended steps are not guaranteed to lead to its correction: in some cases, you need to manually determine which file or folder and which process requires access and provide it manually. The following will work for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 and Windows 10.

Fix error 0x80070005 with subinacl.Exe

The first method relates more to error 0x80070005 when updating and activating Windows, so if you have a problem when trying to restore the system, I recommend starting with the next method, and then, if it doesn’t help, return to this one.

To get started, download the subinacl.Exe utility from the official Microsoft website: http://www.Microsoft.Com/en-us/download/details.Aspx?Id=23510 and install it on your computer. At the same time, I recommend installing it in some folder close to the root of the disk, for example C: \ subinacl \ (with this location I will give an example of the code below).

After that, launch Notepad and enter the following code into it:

In Notepad, select “File”. “Save As”, then in the save dialog box, select “File Type”. “All Files” and specify a file name with the extension.Bat, save it (I save to the desktop).

Could Not Start Service On Local Computer

Right-click on the created file and select the option “Run as Administrator”. Upon completion, you will see the inscription: “Gotovo” and a proposal to press any key. After that, close the command line, restart the computer and try to perform the operation that generated the error 0x80070005 again.

If the specified script did not work, try another version of the code in the same way (Note: the code below may lead to Windows not working, execute it only if you are ready for such an outcome and know what you are doing):

After running the script on behalf of the administrator, a window will open in which for several minutes the access rights to the registry keys, files and folders of Windows will be changed alternately, when done, press any key.

Again, it is better to restart the computer after it is completed and only after that check whether the error has been fixed.

System restore error or while creating a recovery point

Now about access error 0x80070005 when using system recovery functions. The first thing you should pay attention to is your antivirus: very often such an error in Windows 8, 8.1 (and soon in Windows 10) is the reason for the anti-virus protection functions. Try using the settings of the antivirus itself to temporarily disable its self-defense and other functions. In extreme cases, you can try to remove the antivirus.

If this does not help, then you should try the following steps to fix the error:

  1. Check if the local drives of the computer are full. Clear if yes. Also, it is possible that an error occurs if System Restore uses one of the disks reserved by the system and you need to disable protection for this disk. How to do it: go to the control panel. Recovery. Configure system recovery. Select a drive and click the “Configure” button, and then select “Disable protection”. Caution: with this action, existing recovery points will be deleted.
  2. See if Read Only is set for the System Volume Information folder. To do this, open the “Folder Options” in the control panel and on the “View” tab, uncheck “Hide protected system files” and also enable “Show hidden files and folders.” After that, on drive C, right-click on System Volume Information, select “Properties”, check that there is no “Read Only” mark.
  3. Try a custom Windows startup. To do this, press the WinR keys on the keyboard, enter msconfig and press Enter. In the window that appears, on the “General” tab, enable either diagnostic startup or selective, disabling all startup items.
  4. Check if the Volume Shadow Copy service is enabled. To do this, press WinR on the keyboard, enter services.Msc and press Enter. Find this service in the list, if necessary, start it and set it to start automatically.
  5. Try resetting the repository. To do this, restart the computer in safe mode (you can use the “Download” tab in msconfig) with a minimum set of services. Run the command line as administrator and enter the command netstopwinmgmt and press Enter. After that, rename the folder Windows \ System32 \ wbem \ repository into something else for example repository-old. Restart the computer in safe mode again and enter the same command netstopwinmgmt at the command prompt as administrator. After that use the command winmgmt /resetRepository and press Enter. Restart your computer as usual.

Additional information: if any programs related to the operation of the webcam cause an error, try disabling the webcam protection in your antivirus settings (for example, in ESET. Device Control. Webcam Protection).

Perhaps, at the moment, these are all the ways that I can advise for fixing the error 0x80070005 “Access denied.” If this problem arises in some other situations, describe them in the comments, maybe I can help.

Hello. Mail resets the Gmail account after rebooting (Gmail account settings are out of date). Asks to “indicate the correct account.” When I try to log in, it gives this error (0x80070005). Removing and then adding an account corrects the situation only until the next reboot. The firewall is disabled, the antivirus does not interfere, I tried to run the script, the correct servers are registered. Help, please.

Hello Dmitry. Help me please. I have this problem: I wanted to install Team Speak v.3 on my computer. After installing and trying to start the program, a window popped up saying “The program cannot be started because MSVCP140.Dll is missing on the computer. After reading your article on this subject (MSVCP140.Dll), I downloaded this library from the article link and tried to install. Then another message began to appear: “One or more problems caused the setup program to fail. Fix these problems and try installing again. For more information see etc. 0x80070005. Access is denied. ” What can you advise in this case? Thank.

03/07/2019 at 08:57

Hello.
And have you accidentally disabled Windows Update (or have updates been disabled in another way)? This may affect installation. In theory, you can use an unofficial way to install all these libraries, the last way in this instruction: https://remontka.Pro/visual-c-redistributable-download-methods/

04/09/2019 at 16:09

Thanks, the solution helped. And the cause of this error was the deletion of the msiexec.Exe file by the antivirus. Because of what, recovery points and all shortcuts stopped working.
To the creator of the article of good and all the best.

Hello everyone!
I need your help.
Yesterday the sound on the PC was cut off. (a red cross appeared at the sound sign; all sound devices disappeared. In windows audio gives an error 0x80070005)
He made a bunch of dances with a tambourine. The result is zero.
First dance:
– windows-services audio-properties-login. Checked “With a system account.” Rebooted. Launched windows audio. The cross disappeared and all devices appeared, but the sound did not return
Second dance:
– windows-services audio-properties-login. I checked the “With account.” Poked the review. Registered “local”. Clicked “check”. Clicked “okay”. Deleted passwords. Applied. Restarted. The cross appeared again and gives an error 0x80070005.
Third dance:
– through DDU in safe mode, removed firewood Realtek HD and reinstalled. Restarted. The cross appeared again and gives an error 0x80070005.
Fourth dance:
– The first option you proposed with the textbook. Restarted. Again, a cross appeared and gives an error 0x80070005
Fifth dance:
– The second option with a textbook. Restarted. Again, a cross appeared and gives an error 0x80070005
Maybe you have any other options?
Yes, there is still a wild dance with 2 tambourines, one is restoration, and the second is reinstalling Windows. But this is a wildly extreme dance, after which the spirits of the old Windows 10 will eat me up, and therefore for now I do not want to do this.

Hello.
They returned the Local Service account, how should it be by default?

08/29/2019 at 20:42

Demolished an antivirus. The problem was solved, the update became. Looks like he blocked, because even with suspended protection, it wasn’t enough to install an update on vin10.

09/04/2019 at 15:53

I got an error when starting the Windows Installer. Attempting to copy temporary files results in this error.
What can be done in this case?

09/04/2019 at 16:01

Are there any third-party antiviruses or any other things that could block access to folders? If there is, try disabling or deleting them.
And one question: how do you launch the installation? Not booting from a flash drive into BIOS, but simply from within the system?

03/09/2020 at 19:19

This error occurs when installing.NetFramework 3.5. I use the anti-virus built-in, I do not use third-party ones. I tried to disconnect. It does not work.

How can I restore permissions to the system volune information folder? Most likely, an access error is obtained when trying to recover due to damaged rights. I can’t give them out to anyone, even the system’s

If you see error message 1068 “Unable to start a child service or group” when starting a program, executing an action on Windows, or logging on to a system, this indicates that for some reason the service required to complete the action is disabled or cannot be started.

This manual details in detail the common variants of error 1068 (Windows Audio, when connecting and creating a local network, etc.) and how to fix the problem, even if your case is not among the common ones. The error itself may appear in Windows 10, 8 and Windows 7. That is, in all the latest versions of Microsoft OS.

Failed to start subsidiary service. Common 1068 error options

To begin with, the most common variants of errors and quick ways to fix them. The corrective action will be taken to manage Windows Services.

In order to open the “Services” in Windows 10, 8 and Windows 7, press the WinR keys (where Win is the key with the OS logo) and enter services.Msc and then press Enter. A window opens with a list of services and their status.

To change the parameters of any of the services, simply double-click on it, in the next window you can change the type of launch (for example, turn on “Automatically”) and start or stop the service. If the “Run” option is not available, then first you need to change the startup type to “Manual” or “Automatic”, apply the settings and then start the service (but it may not start even in this case, if it is dependent on some more disabled ones in present services).

If the problem was not resolved immediately (or the services cannot be started), then after changing the type of starting all the necessary services and saving the settings, try restarting the computer as well.

Error 1068 of the Windows Audio Service

If the child service did not start when the Windows Audio service started, check the status of the following services:

  • Power (default startup type is Automatic)
  • Multimedia class scheduler (this service may not be in the list, then not applicable for your OS, skip).
  • Remote procedure call RPC (default is Automatic).
  • Windows Audio Endpoint Builder (startup type. Automatic).

After starting the specified services and returning the default startup type, the Windows Audio service should stop displaying the specified error.

Failed to start subsidiary service with network connections

The next common option is error message 1068 for any actions with the network: sharing the network, setting up a home group, connecting to the Internet.

In the described situation, check the operation of the following services:

  • Windows Connection Manager (Automatic)
  • Remote procedure call RPC (Automatic)
  • WLAN Auto Config Service (Automatic)
  • Auto-tuning WWAN (Manual, for wireless connections and the Internet over a mobile network).
  • Application Level Gateway Service (Manual)
  • Connected Networks Information Service (Automatic)
  • Remote Access Connection Manager (manual by default)
  • Remote Access Auto Connection Manager (Manual)
  • SSTP Service (Manual)
  • Routing and remote access (by default it is disabled, but try starting, it can help in fixing the error).
  • Network Participant Identity Manager (Manual)
  • PNRP Protocol (Manual)
  • Telephony (Manual)
  • Plug and Play (Manual)

As a separate action for problems with network services when connecting to the Internet (error 1068 and error 711 when connecting directly to Windows 7), you can try the following:

  1. Stop the “Network Participant Identity Manager” service (do not change the startup type).
  2. In folder C: \ Windows \ serviceProfiles \ LocalService \ AppData \ Roaming \ PeerNetworking delete file idstore.Sst if available.

After that, restart the computer.

Manually searching for necessary services to fix error 1068 using the example of the print manager and firewall

Since I cannot foresee all the possible variants of the appearance of an error with the launch of subsidiary services, I show how you can try to fix error 1068 manually yourself.

This method should be suitable for most cases of a problem in Windows 10. Windows 7: for firewall, Hamachi, print manager errors, and for other, less common options.

The error message 1068 always contains the name of the service that caused this error. Find this name in the list of Windows services, then right-click on it and select “Properties”.

After that, go to the “Dependencies” tab. For example, for the Print Manager service, we will see that “Remote procedure call” is required, and for the firewall, “Basic filtering service” is required, for which, in turn, is the same as “Remote procedure call”.

When the necessary services became known, we try to turn them on. If the default startup type is unknown, try “Automatically” and then restart the computer.

Note: services such as “Power” and “Plug and Play” are not indicated in the dependencies, but can be critical for operation; always pay attention to them when service start errors occur.

Well, if none of the options helps, it makes sense to try recovery points (if any) or other ways to restore the system before resorting to reinstalling the OS. The materials from the Windows 10 Recovery page can help here (many of them are suitable for Windows 7 and 8).

Cool article, thanks! I always thought that the Telephony service in Windows was not needed at all, so I always turned it off. But this time, when I turned it off, the “Remote Access Automatic Connection Manager” service stopped working. And I need this service to connect to the proxy. Everything is working well now and I’m just happy)

I did everything as in this article, but error 1068 remained. Until I launched “Windows Search” in local services. Set it manually

Thanks buddy! How this article helped me!

Thanks for the article, I solved the problem with sound! Article helped out)

01/02/2020 at 13:33

I turn on the “WLAN service” and write “error 1068”

01/02/2020 at 15:57

Also, as described, look for what other services are on which the WLAN is dependent and enable them.
If you used some third-party software before disabling the services, try to start it again, maybe there is an option to return the start of all services to the default values.

01/08/2020 at 21:58

Did not help! Only I have error 1058, not 1068! Windows 10.
