Where do the Central Asian turtles live?
This representative of the family of land turtles can be found in the southeastern regions of Eurasia, in clay and sand deserts, foothills, river valleys, on agricultural lands. The Central Asian land turtle prefers a relatively humid area, where it boldly begins to equip its home – dig holes. Central Asian turtles can also settle in other people’s burrows.
How many years have Central Asian turtles lived?
Life span of turtles in the wild is about 50 years old. At home, the tortoise lives on average no more than 15 years. But if the conditions of her detention are ideal for her active existence, the turtle can live up to 30 years.
How to determine the age of the Central Asian tortoise?
It is the Central Asian turtle that can be called the classic representative of the family of land turtles. From childhood, we saw such turtles on the pages of our favorite books – with a rounded, low shell of olive-reddish color with dark spots. The dorsal shield or carpax is divided into 13 horny scutes, and the abdominal plastron is 16. On the side of the carpax there are another 25 small scutes, and on the central 13 plates there are grooves. It is by their number of mono that you can easily determine the age of the turtle that is in front of you.

Central Asian turtles do not reach particularly impressive sizes. Most often, turtles grow up to 15-20 centimeters in length. It is also worth noting that males of this type of turtles are much smaller than females.
When does the turtle hibernate?
The turtles go into hibernation early in the early summer, but before that the females have time to lay their eggs. Such an early departure is due to the fact that the most arid period begins and most of the vegetation that this species of turtles eats burns out. But this is not the only time of numbness in turtles. Central Asian turtles fall into longer hibernation.
The mating season of the Central Asian turtles
At the end of hibernation, mating begins in Central Asian turtles. It is in the early spring that females make their first egg laying. There can be two or even three such clutches per season. The incubation period ends just in time for the end of summer, but the babies Central Asian tortoise remain burrow until next spring.
