Review ASUS EeePC X101CH White Texture (X101CH-WHI009W)
Netbook Asus Eee PC X101CH (X101CH-WHI009W) White. One of the latest releases of the company. So, Asus X101CH and ASUS Eee PC Flare 1025C are not much different, just the first model has a smaller battery and capacity.
The netbook is built on a platform Intel Cedar Trail. By the way, one of the first on such a platform. Processor combination Intel Atom N2600 does not give any kind of super-performance. But Intel was able to reduce power consumption and increase graphics performance. This is very important for netbooks. Therefore, the device plays 1080p HD well (and even has an HDMI port). Acer, HP, Lenovo and other manufacturers began using the Cedar Trail platform a little later than Asus.

Design
Asus X101CH. thin and light netbook. Its thickness is less than an inch (2.2 cm) and weighs about 1 kg. So, it is easily transported and does not bother with its weight. Available in several colors. white, black, red and brown. Those. It has both a classic coloring and more focused on certain market segments.
The netbook does not have a single glossy panel, which makes the device more practical in terms of caring for it.
The battery protrudes slightly beyond the housing. But this is a plus, because a closed netbook, using the ledge, is very convenient to hold in your hands. There is a slight bulge on the top panel, so opening a computer is also not a problem.
Slim design was made possible due to low power consumption and the lack of a cooling fan in the design (Intel Atom N2600 processor has a TDP of 3.5 W). Since heat dissipation is negligible, the netbook may use other cooling methods (passive).
On the left side are the ports: VGA, HDMI, USB, SDHC card slot and power. On the right. a second USB 2.0, a combined microphone / earphone input and an Ethernet connector on a hinge for connecting a network cable.
There is a speaker on the bottom of the netbook. Although Asus Eee PC X101CH and has only one mono-speaker, but the sound is quite high quality. If the fact of mono speaker is disappointing you, then think for yourself how on a netbook you can get really high-quality stereo sound?
If most netbooks have free access to RAM and even a hard drive, then on the Asus X101CH there is no. To replace the RAM or hard drive you need to disassemble the case. By the way, there are no additional SODIMM slots either. Therefore, adding another mainboard does not work.
The keyboard, like almost the entire body, is made of matte plastic, does not shine and does not collect dirt. The buttons are pleasant to the touch.
In general, the Asus X101CH implements a new proprietary, so-called “Flare” design. Its essence is that the height of the zone in front of the keyboard is slightly higher than the buttons on the keyboard itself. Is it convenient or not, it’s hard for me to say. Probably a matter of taste for everyone. The keyboard is 10% smaller than on similar netbooks. The meaning of many keys is combined.
The touchpad, like the entire case, is matte. It may seem too small, but in operation it is very convenient. The mouse buttons are replaced by a one-piece chromed plastic panel.
Asus also equips the netbook with a WiFi module and a 0.3 megapixel webcam.
Display
The display on this netbook is matte. This is convenient, because no glare from external light sources is practically not visible on it. Rubber fuses on the display frame protect it from contact with the keyboard. 10.1 LED display” has an extension of 1024×600.
Performance
As mentioned above, the Eee PC X101CH runs on an Intel Atom N2600 processor. This is a dual-core 1.6 GHz processor (1 MB L2 cache) with support for Hyper-Threading and a maximum TDP of only 3.5 watts.
The N2600 chip is based on a 32 nm process technology, which is more energy efficient than the previously used 45 nm.
At first glance, the performance of the Asus X101CH is no different from the company’s previous netbooks.
But still, this model has several obvious trump cards.
First, Intel was able to improve graphics performance so that the netbook easily plays 1080p HD. files play well both through Windows Media Player and from YouTube. Although Adobe Flash does not really support hardware graphics acceleration for the integrated card in this netbook.
It’s best, of course, to output the to an external monitor or TV, because netbook screen resolution is not enough for a full display of HD-format.
Secondly, Asus X101CH has special Asus Instant On software installed. This program wakes the netbook from sleep mode almost instantly. It loads from 2-3 seconds to a maximum of 10 seconds. In any case, it is much faster than older Asus netbooks.
Quick web browsing, image editing, multimedia playback. All these operations are easy to do with the Eee PC X101CH. True, if you open more than five tabs in the browser (we used Google Chrome), then the netbook starts to work more slowly. However, this is not surprising, since it has only 1 GB of RAM.
