Android applications do not work

If applications are not installed on Android, the first thing to do is restart the device. Perhaps the cause of the error is a system failure that will be fixed when you restart Android.

If after rebooting the programs from the Play Market are still not installed, look for other causes of the malfunction. We will discuss this later.

This article is suitable for all brands producing phones on Android 10/9/8/7: Samsung, HTC, Lenovo, LG, Sony, ZTE, Huawei, Meizu, Fly, Alcatel, Xiaomi, Nokia and others. We are not responsible for your actions.

Attention! You can ask your question to the specialist at the end of the article.

  1. Why is the application not installed on Android?
  2. How to install applications?
  3. Manual application installation

Why is the application not installed on Android?

The main reason is the lack of internal memory of a smartphone or tablet. If the phone does not have enough memory, it cannot save the installation file of the application and perform installation (installation). There are two ways to fix the problem:

Clean internal memory. Delete unnecessary files and unnecessary applications, erase the cache and temporary files (read How to set the cache for the game on Android).

Zoom Install the application on a microSD card. In this case, the transfer of the installed program is implied. In this case, the application must support transferring to a memory card.

To see where the applications are installed, go to the “Memory” section in the settings. At the top there will be an item “Installation Location”, when clicked, a list with available options will appear. To install applications on a memory card, you need to select it in this list. In this case, the system will download the installation file and store application data on microSD. The storage location does not matter. Both Flash Player and Viber will work equally well on a memory card.

This option is not available on all devices and depends on the shell provided by the manufacturer of the smartphone.

Another possible reason for the installation error is unstable Internet when downloading the installation file from Play Market via 3G. Connect to a Wi-Fi point to provide a connection at a normal speed.

If the application is not installed from the Play Market, but simply from the Internet in the form of an.Apk file, then the reason for the failure of the system from installing it may be incompatibility of the firmware or blocking by the antivirus. It is recommended to install applications only from the Play Market, which are suitable for the Android version on the phone / tablet.

In addition to problems with the application, errors may occur in the operation of your Google account. To fix them, delete the account and add again.

  1. Open the settings, find the “Accounts” section.
  2. Select “Google.”
  3. Click on the account you are using.
  4. Open the additional menu and select “Delete Account” (note that the data associated with it will be deleted, you need to make a backup).

After deleting the account, restart the smartphone. The next time you turn it on, add the account again and try downloading applications from the Play Market.

An extreme measure in case of problems with installing applications will be resetting the device to the factory state or flashing the device (relevant for phones with custom rather than official firmware).

How to install applications?

Each user should know how to install the application on Android in different ways. Through the Play Market (Google Play) and the APK file. This allows you to reduce the number of errors during the installation of programs and makes it possible to choose a more suitable method for each specific situation. To install the application from the Play Market:

  1. Launch the Play Market app on Android. If you have not added a Google account yet, the system will offer to create a new account or enter the details of your existing profile.
  2. Type in the search bar the application you want to install.
  3. Open the page of the found application. Make sure it is compatible with the device, and click Install.
  4. Accept the required permissions.
  5. Wait for the download and installation of the program to complete.

After a successful installation, a notification appears that the application is installed. Open it to check the work. Similar actions can be performed on the computer using the Google Play website.

  1. Open the Google Play website in your browser. Log in to the account that has been added to the phone.
  2. Find the application, make sure it is compatible and click Install.
  3. If the account has been added to several devices, select the phone on which you want to install the application.

The main condition for installing the program remotely is connecting your phone to Wi-Fi. Through mobile traffic, the application will not be downloaded from Google Play.

Manual application installation

If you want to install the application from a third-party source, and not from the Play Market, then the first thing you need to do is prepare the system.

  1. Open the settings, go to the “Security” section.
  2. Find the item “Unknown sources” and check the box next to it.

Now you can download the application’s APK file to your computer and transfer it to the phone’s memory. You can transfer the file in any way. Through a USB connection, by mail, via Bluetooth. The main thing to remember is the folder where you sent the APK.

To install the application from the APK, use any file manager. Find and run the APK file. The system will install the application and inform you of the successful completion of the operation with a notification.

To simplify the procedure for installing the application from a computer, use special software. For example, the Install APK program. When using such software, you do not need to transfer the APK-file to the phone’s memory. You simply add it to the program interface and install it on the device connected to the computer.

For these utilities to work, phone drivers must be installed on the computer, however, it will still fail to work with some models.

Many Windows 10 users are faced with the fact that tiled applications do not start, do not work, or open and close immediately. In this case, the problem begins to manifest itself, for no apparent reason. Often this is accompanied by a stopping search and the start button.

In this article, there are several ways to fix the problem if Windows 10 applications do not work and avoid reinstalling or resetting the operating system. See also: Windows 10 calculator does not work (plus how to install the old calculator).

Note: according to my information, the problem with automatically closing applications after starting, among other things, can occur on systems with multiple monitors or with an ultra-high resolution screen. I cannot offer solutions to this problem at the current time (except for a system reset, see Restoring Windows 10).

And one more note: if when launching applications you are informed that you cannot use the built-in Administrator account, then create a separate account with a different name (see How to create a Windows 10 user). A similar situation is when you are informed that the Login to the system is performed with a temporary profile.

Reset Windows 10 Application

In the anniversary update of Windows 10 in August 2016, there was a new opportunity to restore the functionality of applications if they do not start or do not work in another way (provided that specific applications do not work, and not all). Now, you can reset the data (cache) of the application in its parameters as follows.

  1. Go to Settings. System. Applications and features.
  2. In the application list, click on the one that does not work, and then click on the Advanced Settings item.
  3. Reset the application and storage (note that credentials stored in the application may also be reset).

After performing a reset, you can check whether the application has recovered.

Reinstall and re-register Windows 10 applications

Attention: in some cases, following the instructions in this section may lead to additional problems with Windows 10 applications (for example, empty squares with signatures will appear instead of them), keep this in mind and, for starters, it’s probably best to try the following methods, and then come back to this.

First of all, start Windows PowerShell as an administrator. To do this, you can start to enter “PowerShell” in the Windows 10 search, and when the application is found, right-click on it and select start as Administrator. If the search does not work, then: go to the folder C: \ Windows \ System32 \ WindowsPowerShell \ v1.0 right-click on Powershell.Exe, select run as administrator.

Copy and enter the following command into the PowerShell window, then press Enter:

Wait for the team to complete the work (while not paying attention to the fact that it can produce a significant number of red errors). Close PowerShell and restart the computer. Check if Windows 10 applications are working.

If the method did not work in this form, then there is a second, expanded version:

  • Remove those applications that are critical for you to launch.
  • Reinstall them (for example, using the command specified earlier)

Learn more about uninstalling and reinstalling preinstalled applications: How to uninstall embedded Windows 10 applications.

Additionally, you can perform the same action automatically using the free program FixWin 10 (in the Windows 10 section, select the Windows Store Apps not opening item). Read more: Fix Windows 10 errors in FixWin 10.

After completion, try starting the application again (if it doesn’t work right away, try restarting the computer).

Checking the integrity of system files

In the command line launched as administrator (you can start through the menu using the WinX keys), run the command sfc / scannow and if she didn’t identify any problems, then one more thing:

Dism / Online / Cleanup-Image / RestoreHealth

It is possible (though unlikely) that problems with launching applications can be fixed in this way.

Additional Ways to Fix Application Launch

There are also additional options for fixing the problem, if none of the above described could help in solving it:

I hope that one of the suggestions will help to deal with this problem of Windows 10. If not, let me know in the comments, there are also welcome additional features to cope with the error.
